Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 King was training with the first team today, first time I've seen him doing so, and Joe Mattock was training with them yet again but I didn't see Stephen Hughes training at all. Hughes is possibly injured but the fact that King was training with the first team on Worthington's first day in charge may mean he gets a chance on Saturday on the bench?

Apparently he don't like playing youngsters especially not 16/17 year olds, but would still be great for either of them to have a chance.
Leicester Lass Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Hughes was probably out on the p*ss as usual.
lookwhaticando Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Apparently he don't like playing youngsters especially not 16/17 year olds, but would still be great for either of them to have a chance. King is about 18 or 19, I thought.
Sly Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Hughes was probably out on the p*ss as usual. Potentially the "quallity" he has spotted at the club? maybe?
Coxy Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 King is about 18 or 19, I thought. Not sure about King was just on about Mattock
Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 April 2007 Author Posted 12 April 2007 I've seen Mattock training with the first team before but not King. I don't get down that often though so King's probably been involved before now. Just thought he may get a chance under a new manager.
lookwhaticando Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Not sure about King was just on about Mattock Ah. That'd explain it. I've seen Mattock training with the first team before but not King. Unless that Miller chap has been fighting King's corner the whole time.
City fan @ Aston Uni Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Sorry 2 ask guys, is he a centre mid?? If so who would u play partnering him in the middle of the park??

If Hughes is injured and with Tiatto suspended, Worthington has Jarrett, Wesolowski and Johnson to choose from for the centre of midfield. According to the resident canary, Worthington fell out with Jarrett at Norwich so that leaves Johnson and Wesolowski for the middle of the park... Step forward Andy King, maybe?!
Tevez Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Apparently, Mattock will be playing in a first team match before the end of the season.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 April 2007 Author Posted 12 April 2007 Sorry 2 ask guys, is he a centre mid?? If so who would u play partnering him in the middle of the park?? Tiatto imo but he's suspended. Wesolowski's the next best option as a partner but then the middle of the park will be very inexperienced which could be seen as a good thing or a bad thing. They might feel the pressure or play without fear.

Dunno what I would do if I saw Johnson on the pitch again. Kill some bears probably.

It's a long shot... let's not get our hopes up. Besides, our resident birdy also told us Worthington isn't averse to playing players out of position... let's hope Miller doesn't tell him that Stearman's capable.

Yeh could possibly be a good idea if Nils is off at the end of the season anyway. Taggs seemed to think very highly of him when he was on Radio Leics commentating!

Good job Miller wasn't at the club when Kisnorbo was being played in midfield!!!
City_4_Life Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Apparently, Mattock will be playing in a first team match before the end of the season. If he does it will be more then likely the last game of the season. I would also like to see a couple more younsters playing then, considering how well they have played for the under 18's this season. If we are safe by then that is.
Head Honcho Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 I doubt NW is that much in the wilderness regards our youngsters. They've been playing for England youth and under 18's regularly and I doubt he's been sitting on his arse since his departure from Norwich. He's bound to have been doing a bit of scouting at the very least and talent that young is always closely watched
lookwhaticando Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Good job Miller wasn't at the club when Kisnorbo was being played in midfield!!! Oh dear god! The mind boggles.
Thracian Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 King is certainly 18/19 and a six-footer. If he does play it's vital to play the 4-3-3 I've mentioned elsewhere but with Mattock instead of Tiatto if the latter's suspended, which would be a pity. The point is that the attacking full-backs would enable the system to move fluidly through 3-4-3 depending on which side play develops and even into 3-3-4 if we're confident enough. As Stearman or Mattock move forward to support so King could join the other three attackers from midfield. The team would have eight potential scorers - our most all season - and lots of mobile support and movement, the sort of team I've wanted all season. Logan; Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Mattock (assuming Tiatto out); King, Wesolowski, Porter; Hume, Hammond Fryatt. The thing about King is that he must have licence to drive into the box. That is his big strength. If he's restricted to a general midfield role he'll be wasted. King is a good passer who brings people into play quickly. He works hard, looks fairly comfortable out wide, does his share of tracking but his gift is the way he drifts into the box unseen and looks for shots. Don't expect a spectacular-looking fancy dan. Even his attacking strength would be countered if there weren't numbers around him in support as he gets in the Academy but we can have those with the above line up. Stearman/King/Hammond on the right and Mattock/Porter on the left can provide width between them and Hume can support a bit in midfield when they do. It's not flawless and there are risks - more so cos it's not practised as it should have been last July. But it is the basis of a decent team. At least the best we've got right now. Good enough to win against Norwich? I don't know but I do think they'd play a bit. And seeing that the seniors haven't taken much off Norwich lately what's to lose?. They wouldn't half need some support though - and that's a big ask. Especially with Hullfox and TPH in the crowd.

He's bound to have been doing a bit of scouting at the very least and talent that young is always closely watched I agree. And MM wouldn't have happened on him by chance. He'd have sounded him out weeks ago, offerd him some videos, asked him to brush up on our players etc.

By the sounds of it NW got a phone call sometime between yesterday and the Plymouth game.
Milky Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Some academy lads train with the first team players quite often. A couple of years ago my bro took part in attack V defence. The academy lads were in defence and in attack was De Vries. He just couldn't score, so embarrasing.
