lildave3 Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Derby to team up with sports giants adidas for next season: The Rams have entered into a five-year agreement with the world's leading sports brand who will supply team and staff kit and branded merchandise including replica kit. "We are absolutely delighted," said Derby County managing director Mike Horton, "as adidas is a brand renowned for quality and that will appeal to our fans. "This is a tremendous opportunity for the club and adidas to work together, and marks the start of what should be a long and rewarding relationship." Gavin Thomson, sales director, adidas area north, said: "We are very excited about our new relationship with Derby County. This comes at an exciting time in Derby's own development." Top Premiership clubs Chelsea and Liverpool wear adidas. Next season's Rams replica kit, made by adidas, could be available to fans from August. Derby are believed to be half way through a four-year kit deal with Spanish company Joma which they inherited from the previous board. It is understood the Rams are in negotiations to terminate the contract. They encountered problems with the Joma kit last summer when 1,700 of the new home shirts had to be sent back to the manufacturer after faults were discovered. Staff at the club shop at Pride Park Stadium noticed that the logo of sponsor 'The Derbyshire' was coming away at the corners. This led to a shortage of new shirts and left fans struggling to purchase them before the season's opening game against Southampton. They get Adidas, we get Jako
Joe. Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Stupid sheep <_< Bet that's a great earner for them...
Tommeh Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Adidas may be about the biggest make available but I personally dont like heasea or liverpools shirt, I'd prefer Puma / Nike
Simi Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Adidas may be about the biggest make available but I personally dont like heasea or liverpools shirt, I'd prefer Puma / Nike Puma do some great shirts. The Liverpool kit would be a lot nicer without that collar.
Tommeh Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 tbh I'd be happy with Puma and Diadora which seem to suit the championship level..please no Jako though, pompys shirt this season is sick
lildave3 Posted 25 April 2007 Author Posted 25 April 2007 tbh I'd be happy with Puma and Diadora which seem to suit the championship level..please no Jako though, pompys shirt this season is sick I actually think this season's 3 have been their best yet. The red one last year was woeful.
davieG Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Well it depends how much money they can make out of the deal, surely the only reason to have these agreements.
samingram_uk Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 it would be great if we got nike this season dream on sunshine
Wils Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 dream on sunshine Southend have though? And some other lower league club...Walsall i think? Adidas dont make that great football shirts anyway,i prefer Jako.
potter3 Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Who cares who Derby has got? Forest have got Umbro, who (I think) make nicer kits anyway...
The Reverend Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Bloody hell we get ****ing Jako and the sheep shaggers get Adidas. God!
Hereford-Fox Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Southend have though? And some other lower league club...Walsall i think?Adidas dont make that great football shirts anyway,i prefer Jako. hairyford united wear nike kit, would like to have anything other than jako this season, even jjb. i thought the designs were/are quite nice, well alot better than pompey's
Finnegan Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Well we've only been promised a decent German firm, right? And Adidas are German aren't they? You never know...
Geo V Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Lucky barstewards. I hope MM is watching and does his bit to get us a decent kit next season and not make us the embarassing kid on the street in Jako with the shite material whilst everyone else wears addidas and Nike
Micky Ruddle Posted 26 April 2007 Posted 26 April 2007 They get Adidas, we get Jako with milans money, im sure he can afford to ask nike or adidas to manufacture
mancunianfox Posted 26 April 2007 Posted 26 April 2007 I don't care who makes the shirts as long as the club has got a good deal and the shirts are well made. Having said that I wouldn't want Adidas though because the extra amount of white on the sleeves would detract from the royal blue.
Mort Posted 26 April 2007 Posted 26 April 2007 So long as we get rid of the fu*king pinstripes! I dont care who makes our kit... that and having a black rather than white away kit would be nice... but its a good call for D*rby, be interesting to see what there like next season.
