He did have faith in him, he played him every game! Be it up front, right wing, left wing.

MA never fancied him up front though - his best position, and always went for Deane/Ferdinand etc instead - another short-term fix of his. Lo and behold, when he does get a run this season, he's up front in the worst LCFC team for some time.

Part of my argument on the captain thing was based around the loyalty/professionalism thing. JS doesn't go round kicking people up in the air a la Tiatto, letting off fire extinguishers in bars or whinging to the media about playing wide left.

Connolly !

He gives 110% every game no matter what the score is or how we are playing ! Also will most likely play alot more games than Tiatto. Tiatto is rash & will be suspended alot of the time .... A true captain is someone that is respected by the players ,management & fans and sets a good example ,where as Tiatto gets booked alot and is also a dirty fecker ;)..Connolly would be a great captain !

Good point. He's been a good signing, but 10 or so bookings before Xmas!!! And he's committed some of the worse tackles I've ever seen whilst at Man City.

our last two club captains have been Steve Walsh and Matt Elliott, both were Leicester through and through and you could never see them turning their backs on us. Tiatto has already said he wants to go back Oz so he is a no. Id love it to be one of the young lads like Williams or Heath. If Walker signed another contract though id make him it for the loyalty he has shown to us.

I think we need some definition here Club Captain or Captain on the pitch.

For me Walshy was a cracking captain on the pitch if a tad hot headed (understatement) he had passion led by example and was experienced enough to let the intelligent players like Gary Parker influence the game like slowing it down etc.

Matty was an excellent Club Captain as in spokesperson, stature etc but IMO was not that impressive as a Captain on the pitch.

I think, to take us through the next few years until we get well pass this panic syndrome we have we need a Captain on the pitch -

So my view for what it's worth,

Walker - passionless - no way - loyalty my arse - money is what's kept him here

Maybury - Who knows not us

Dublin - no way too short term

Dabizas - You're taking the piss

Heath - lacks presence and authority - future who knows

Stewart - see Heath

Gillespie - hasn't got the character too old

Nalis - on his way in the summer I believe

Williams - in time maybe

Connolly, Scowcroft, MDV - IMO Strikers don't make good captains, I'm sure someone will quote one, they are by nature, quite rightly greedy selfish individuals

Joey - lacks presence and authority

Hughes - See Maybury

Makin lol

Canero - Haven't a clue

Tiatto - not the best choice in the long run but should carry on for this season, maybe by the summer someone will show they've got what it takes or perhaps a new summer signing ;) .

Loyalty, as in been here a while is not a justification for being made Captain

Being a Leicester Fan is not a justification for being made Captain

Let's stick with Tiatto for now and see what the Summer brings.

Don't need a Club Captain just one who can do the job on the pitch.

Agree

I disagree that Walker's in it for the money. He's made it known he wants to continue playing for the club, despite the fact he knows he'll be on lower wages. For me its got to be either him or Tiatto for now. I really dont rate Maybury that much at all as a player yet, and to me he doesnt appear that vocal on the pitch, but maybe it'll just take some time...

Walker is mr mogadon man he never say's anything on the pitch always looks totally disinterested - I can't see a single part of his character or game that indicates in any way he would make a good captain..

Of course he wants to continue now because he knows that nobody in the premier wants him, he's also got this mystery injury which will prevent him going anywhere for any decent cash. He stayed because he was on a massive wage even by Premier standards, his Mrs has been quoted more than once as saying that Ian will follow the money and was especially vocal when we got relegated with Bassett and Adams - admin time, but no one came for him then becasue of those hign wages.

Did he take a wage cut like Elliott and the rest? I thought he did (I'm not being anal just asking). I like Walker and think hes been a decent keeper for us. Dont know much about his wife though...

ok Mr. Alan Shearer! although i agree our strikers would not make good skippers!

61805[/snapback]

What has Shearer ever achieved as a captain? 15 million for what?

Very interesting that recent reports suggest he is hated at Newcastle by the players. Freddy Shepherd and the dumbass fat barcodes that follow that shower won't have a word said about him though.

But Gullit and Robson worked him out sadly leading to their downfall. His assault on Lennon showed the cowards true colours.

They all took a wage deferral, on the basis that they would get paid in full at hte end of the season, The PFA wouldn't allow them to lose one penny even if it meant the club went bust. Nothing personal against Walker, Im not evensaying that he is any more money grabbing than anyone else, even Muzz stayed for the money, and he's been my idol it's just not 'loyalty' in my book.

Everyone hates each other at the Mags right now. Fletcher, Souness, Shearer, Bellamy, Dyer, Kluivert all at the same club and all massive egos. Bloody hilarious for the rest of us though. Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

I'll give Tiatto the armband until the summer and then give it to Maybury. Although Alans position makes it a bit difficult to be influential all over the pitch I feel... out of the current crop I feel maybury may be best for his professional attitude and because he has experience under CL. He's been steady in the few games he's played already and he looks like a very good buy already.

Scowy for captain, you're having a laff! lol

He has been nothing short of woeful for most of the season and to reward him with the captain's armband would be an insult to Leicester fans. I like many others will be glad to see the back of him.

Steady?

His positional play defensively is woeful, he ball watches, and doesnt seem to want to jump to header the ball! TWICE against the Gills he got caught out of position. Great going forwards granted, but I'd like to see a little more defensively, after all thats what he is- a DEFENDER. And people give Jordan Stewart stick?!

Of course I'll reserve full judgement until hes played a few more games ;)

Has to be Tiatto for me, no one else shows as much fight. His leadership skills might not all be there but he leads by example. The dirty get :D

Certainly wouldn't say that Maybury seems like captain material yet...

Maybury was class against Gillingham and defensively sound. I struggle to understand what you are talking about. Anyway it's gone on record from Hearts fans how ****in good Maybury is. Never let you down, hard as nails and a natural born winner. I think Maybury was stand-in captain at Hearts aswell.

Williams captained Forest at times aswell, but doesn't seem overly vocal on the pitch.

Dawson needs to be introduced to the first team and watch a proper captain at work.

You think so? Not from where I was sitting... In fact he rather struck me as being a bit akin to Alan Rogers- OK so maybe not THAT bad but no, defensively I didnt think he was that great (and I have heard from one or two Hearts fans who thought the same). Of course as I say I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until he played a few games.

I've heard a lot of good things said about Dawson but as I dont live in Leicester at the moment the only academy info I get is from the OS , the matchday programme and now (hopefully) here. So hopefully he'll turn out to be as good as everyone thinks he is

Maybury was Man of the Match against Reading - Apart from a mistake where he let their winger glide past him on the bye line, he was excellent defensively and looked good going forward.

We should all just be grateful that Makin's not playing. :D
