Champions League Final 2007

Well, tonight's the night. Will history repeat itself? You can get odds of 2007/1 apparently for a repeat of two years ago. I want Liverpool to win, I presume most of you lot do aswell. So come on Liverpool, win it for a 6th time and make England proud!

Also, apparently there is a dancing bear outside the stadium in Athens wearing a small top hat. More on that later.

Worthy of being made twice?! :P

But seriously, i hope most people will be rooting for the scousers. They are a great club and i do not like Milan. Especially that tw@t Gattuso, he is a reet nob. Did anyone read what Gerrard said about him in the Daily Mail today?

Quote: STEVEN GERRARD

"I wasn't worried about Gattuso before the game, during the game or after. People rate the Italian for some reason. For me, he is all mouth. He looks aggressive, but he is scary as a kitten.

"I swear I wouldn't mind playing against him every week. He doesn't hurt you. I have never seen Gattuso play a killer ball. He won't nick a goal either.

"Gattuso just plays for the fans - theatrical and emotional. He was also the one Milan player who had a smirk on his face leaving the pitch at half-time. I saw it, f*** you."

I love Gerrard! The bloke should be knighted for a comment like this! 'He is as scary as a kitten'!! :worship:

I'm torn between supporting Liverpool and Milan tonight. Usually I would support the British team, but for Liverpool to beat Milan again would be a tragedy for football I think - Milan are a great team, and play some very nice football, and knocked out our Premier League champions in impressive style, whereas Liverpool have played some very dull football this season and I would have much preferred any of our other 3 English Champions League teams to be in the final rather than them.

So who should I support - Milan for the good of football... or Liverpool for the good of half of merseyside?

I don't really get on bored with this whole "support them 'cos they're English!" lark. Probably because I'm not English, like, but still I'm not quite sure I understand it. So they're English, they're still not your club - are they? As for Gattuso, he's a fooking workhorse mate - what's not to like? Yes, he winds his opponents up but so does Robbie Savage, and we love him! Gerrard's just trying to get in his head, which is fair enough, it's gamesmanship - but I'll be the first to cheer when ol' Ivan ploughs straight through the gobby Scouse. ;)

For the record, I do want Liverpool to win, like. But not just 'cos "they're British."

Italian crooks or Scouse murderers?

Gosh, it's a tough call.

Couldn't give a monkey's who wins it.

i'd love to see 'pool win it but i just can't, especially if milan played as they did against utd. they've just got too much quality i fear, the only weak part of the team is perhaps up top, but kaka is scoring for fun in the Champs league. 2-0 milan

I want Liverpool to win. Always had a soft spot for them

But I think Milan will be to strong tonight. The midfield is where it will be won tonight.

Looks that way as both teams will probably line up with 5 in midfield.

Could end up being a flop like the FA Cup final as both teams could cancel each other out.

I think it will be 1-0 Milan but i want Liverpool to win

"The dancing bear is called Terry." "What is Gattuso doing outside the stadium? I hope he's not dancing later!" "Never mind the bear's hat, has he got a spare ticket?"

Told you there'd be more on the bear :P

Would be amazing if the game's anywhere near as good as the one back in 2005. Like most I'd like Liverpool to win.

Oh, and I have Dirk Kuyt in a first goalscorer sweepstake with some mates

Gattuso is an arse. Perhaps leaving the pitch with a smirk after leading 'pool 3-0 after half time in '05 have something to do with the dislike of him? Well, the smirk wasnt there at the end ofthe game was it?

And as for Stevies comments, they were made after the Champs League Final, not recently to wind Gattuso up.

Its quite strange actually as Gerrard normally stays quite tight lipped, so i dunno where you get Scouse gobshite from?!

If Liverpool try to man mark Kaka out of the game it could turn out like the cup final.

I'm confused by the whole smirking thing. Surely you would be if you had basically won the Champions League Final?

I don't get what's NOT to understand about the "support cos they're English/British" thing.

They are based in England/Britain, with English/British fans and play in the English Premiership. As far as I'm concerned they're representing English football in the biggest domestic football competition there is.

Plus they have a number of British/English players that I want to see do well.

For me it's akin to England vs Italy, just on a domestic football level. In this sense, I would call it patriotism.

And I love their fans, their city, their history, etc. All of which are British "things".

Personally, I'll continue hoping that AC Milan lose due to the fact they shouldn't be there after their involvement in the matchfixing, rather than any liking of Liverpool.

I think Liverpool go into it as the underdogs which is good. Would be fantastic if they win it,the Italians wont be as cocky this time im sure.

No, you'd wait til the job was done, then smirk as much as you want - not at half time.

I'm sure the rat faced pr1ck has learnt his lesson.

Yeah but he'd be pleased with the performance etc. it's not exactly offensive.

AC Milan to be 3-0 at up HT

FT it is 3-3

Liverpool to win on penalties, after Kaka misses an open goal in the second half of extra time.

Yes i agree, but for Stevie to get so worked up about it, the smirk must have had some big headedness/cockyness about it, which is why he was so pi$$ed off.
