Brainy Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 It's normal to assume the Italians cheated... because let's face it, chances are they did anyway. Oh now for that annoying Milan anthem(?)
Dames Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Inzaghi Second goal was class. Can't stand liverpool fans, like today in town some random chavs singing you'll never walk alone and they have probably never been to a game in thier lives. Same as Man Utd fans in this city.
Sly Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 I was going to sat the first goal was hand ball!! Or maybe it was more ball to hand. Either way it was lucky. Milans second goal was a class above though. The ref didn't give the agreed minimal time, I think Rafa was annoyed abut that. Saw him doing a Fergeson at the end, pointing at his watch. All in all, tot the greatest game ever really.
lildave3 Posted 23 May 2007 Author Posted 23 May 2007 Probably a harsh scoreline on Liverpool but at the end of the day, to win football matches you need to take your chances and Liverpool just didn't do that.A great deal of luck on Milan's part, first for the goal just before half time and just generally for the ref's shoddy performance. Still can't quite work out how Jermaine Pennant managed to worm his way into Liverpool's first team. He's never been good at Liverpool, bar one brilliant goal against Chelsea. All in all, Liverpool will feel agrieved not to have won, but that's football for you I still say the defence was at fault for that goal anyway
Sly Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 I still say the defence was at fault for that goal anyway Jez has never lived up tp his potential, he was simply brilliant when he was at Notts County. I thought his chance at Arsenal had finally come when he got his first start against Southampton and bagged a hat trick but then he fell out with Arsene Wenger and had to move on. Arsenal was the wrong move for him, like it was for so many players before him. Theo Walcott will suffer the same. I'd have thought with him being a Liverpool fan he'd have played with more passion for them but he's never really shown it.
dandannieldanok Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 God they had 92 minutes to score more than Milan and you lot are nitpicking at 20 seconds, get over it. Benitez played Crouch 72 minutes too late. Liverpool had their chance, Milan played very poorly but they wasted it. And handball for the 1st goal, you having a laugh.
Sly Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 All very true, Liverpool have wasted chances. Benitez has got his tactics wrong for this one. I think Kuyts goal might have been offside as well having just rewatched it.
lildave3 Posted 23 May 2007 Author Posted 23 May 2007 And what was this the Curtis Pennant from Nottingham announcements?

I get your point and agree, but hey, if Liverpool are looking for excuses, they've got one
Brainy Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 And what was this the Curtis Pennant from Nottingham announcements? And the message from the 10 year old early in the first half? Or is that the same guy......
Joe. Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 And the message from the 10 year old early in the first half?Or is that the same guy...... Yup, same guy...
Wils Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Gutted. Really am. Liverpool could have won that game, far to negative they needed to get more players up. Putting all ten back for a corner?Thats Levein tactics! Crouch was brought on to late to make any sort of impact. The Italians knew how to win the game after taking the lead.
Mikey Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Milan must have paid the ref Maybe, as he was total shite. Also that seems to be the Italian way
Wils Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Inzaghi. What a twat. Pissed me off when he went down in the corner and wouldnt get of the pitch. Tosser.
Anish Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Filippo Inzaghi - the Elvis Hammond of the Champions' League. Yes he looks awkward in possession but he gets in the right place at the right time (somehow) and know where the back of the net is. He's got an incredible goalscoring record for someone with limited technical ability. Barton's going to have a field day with Gerrard's performance. No excuses, he was garbage. Absolutely. I know he wasn't played in his best position, but that doesn't excuse his poor control, bad decision making, rubbish passing and inaccurate shooting. His lack of a left foot was woefully exposed when he shifted the ball back on to his right foot and side footed at Dida - a naturally gifted player like Kaka would not have hesitated smashing it with his left foot.
Floating Fox Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Well done AC earned me a nice 50 quid I was rooting for Liverpool though
Master Fox Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Inzaghi. What a twat. Pissed me off when he went down in the corner and wouldnt get of the pitch. Tosser. Oh well. Still, at least his team won the match?
lookwhaticando Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 All very true, Liverpool have wasted chances. Benitez has got his tactics wrong for this one. I think Kuyts goal might have been offside as well having just rewatched it. AC player flicked it on - definitely not offside.
Ultra Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Filippo Inzaghi - the Elvis Hammond of the Champions' League. Is this the same Filippo Inzaghi whose goals tonight made him the highest scorer in Champions League history? If only Elvis was that prolific!
Spee-d Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Unlucky Liverpool, they did well. I dont know how people can say the manager got the team selection/tactics wrong. Liverpool controlled the game, it was up to the players to try and put some of the chances away. Although he did take Mascherano off, maybe that caused Milans second goal but you cant really blame him for that decision, they needed a goal and brought on a striker for the most defensive midfielder. I thought Pennant was the best player in the first half, had a real go. Zenden was woeful though, and Kewell did much better when he came on. Anyway well done to AC.
breadandcheese Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 Well done Milan. They were the better team and deserved it. I don't buy all this Liverpool dominated the first half, etc. Milan never looked trouble bar one or two moments. Liverpool were not penetrative enough. I still for the life of me cannot understand the desire to get to a cup final, with 90 minutes to really go for it, and then play one man upfront. Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Milan all did this. It shows what a lack of quality strikers there is in the modern game.
Trumpet Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 It wasnt as if they missed out on 20 seconds, because Milan must have wasted at least 2 minutes of the added time...
mancunianfox Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 Both finals over the last few days just go to show that playing the better football has nothing to do with winning football matches. Despite my (and UEFA's) view that Milan shouldn't have been allowed in the competition the right team did win last night because on the night they were more effective.
escape2victory Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 The Liverpool wingers cost it for them. Both Zenden and Pennant had good possession of the ball in good areas but their final ball was nothing short of shocking. Guarantee niether will be there next season. If Liverpool get their singings right in the summer, in terms of improving the quality in their final third then they will win the league next season, as in my opinion they are the best defensivly organised team in the Prem, but lack quality in attacking areas. Players like Crouch, Bellemy, Zenden, Pennent and Kewell arnt going to win you the league.
