stez Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/6267928.stm lovely news.
filbertway Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I thought this was about Andy Johnson then, not Alan Johnston Good news, saw it this morning on GMTV. Hopefully he can get back to doing his job and enjoying his life again. You did spell it Johnson, I saw it, you are abusing your powers sir. I'm not having this, making me look the stupid one now.
Guest Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I thought he was a goner after the last video. I'm pleased for him and his family, I cannot imagine what they've been going through.
Raj Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Will be very interesting to read about what he had been through. Atleast the 'Army of islam' did something good in releasing him unharmed. Just hope it helps make that area of the world a little more peaceful in the future....but me thinks not..

I don't think they had a lot of choice from what I hear from reports - release him or we will kill you! Glad there has been a happy ending here, you always fear the worst when people get kidnapped like this and like Lisa said after the last video - he must have been terrifed.

I don't think people like these are really that bothered if they themselves are killed do you?
Katy Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I don't think people like these are really that bothered if they themselves are killed do you? Well it got their arses into gear so maybe they are.
filbertway Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 That was me, and to be fair, it's not that difficult. What's not that difficult? Just to make sure you don't think I'm THAT stupid, I'm saying here, that that was a joke
dandannieldanok Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Very good news, with all the madaleine stuff he seemed to be forgotten slightly.
Daggers Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Lovely stuff. Innit. I was struck by his interview, how calm and considered he still was - when Terry Waite was released he was a bit of a shell for a while whereas Johnston seems really sorted. Good on him. Delighted he's safe and sound.
Head Honcho Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I don't think people like these are really that bothered if they themselves are killed do you? They were bothered alright. He was being held by a well connected tribal family and to continue to hold him captive would have seen their reputation in tatters. The family concerned are considered almost like royalty in Gaza and although they are well supported they could not afford to get on the wrong side of Hamas.
