Thracian Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 If Chambers and Kaebi have been training on the left, this might mean Allen thinks he doesn't need anybody else to come in as cover for the left side. Or perhaps it's just in case a deal falls through. From the clips I've seen I can't see Kaebi playing on the left. Don't know about Chambers but if he eclipses Sheehan at his best he'll be one good player.
LCFCIMPS Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 McAuley a legend n said in today lincolnshire echo sheehan would do well in league two. hope we can get him on season-long loan. Havn't seen anything on redimps yet to say he's joins us. McAuley says he's good n would do well.
Simi Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 From the clips I've seen I can't see Kaebi playing on the left. Don't know about Chambers but if he eclipses Sheehan at his best he'll be one good player. I can't see him playing down the left either, just going from what Sly said in his post. From looking at the videos I'd hope Allen would play him wide right, he looks most dangerous from that position.
lookwhaticando Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Of the opinion that his younger team-mate, a midfielder, would gain an excellent footballing education at Lincoln, McAuley believes the move could bear fruit for both parties. There's me thinking he was a defender.

Try and get that message through to the Lincoln City board loud and clear!.
LCFCIMPS Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Manwell's a legend too and he says he's crap. Try and get that message through to the Lincoln City board loud and clear!. From what i'v heared he sounds a good player. Hope we can get him cos we need some left sided players at the moment.
Thracian Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 From what i'v heared he sounds a good player. Hope we can get him cos we need some left sided players at the moment. No, no, no...... You take my advice and listen to Manwell. Look at the Foxestalk awards. "Most Knowledgeable About Football", I think it was. There is very little Manwell doesn't know about football and footballers. I was just one of the throng that voted for him. Listen with Manwell could well follow the legendary Listen with Mother on Radio his knowledge is so highly respected. Ask about a Mongolian midfielder or a Siberian striker and Manwell will give you chapter and verse. And Manwell says Sheehan is shit. Do you hear that? Shit. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. And low-lying Britain has had enough shit for one summer. You don't want him. Tell the Lincoln management to look for someone good. If they PM Manwell he might even offer some alternatives but beware, he'd only suggest Sheehan as a ploy to get rid of him. Look at Manwell's posting history and you'll see what he really thinks. Little clubs can't afford bad decisions. Be warned! :D

Thracian Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 I thought that Dodds had signed a 1 year contract, in that case whats the point of loaning him out for a season?Surely 3 months max, if he can't impress in that time, sell him in January. Further to my initial comment, Dodds has signed but may well go on loan somewhere if he doesn't break through. However the provisional agreement of a six months loan to Notts County fell through a) because City gave Dodds a wage rise and b) City were so long appointing a manager.
davieG Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Conversation updateChambers and Kaebi have been playing on the left side in training and have both looked comfortable, so Sheehan wants to go out on loan to get regular first team football. You can't blame him for that. Lincoln have submitted a bif for a season long loan deal, which he is interested in. Stearman doesn't know where he'll play next season, as we've signed near enough a new side, he made a joke about playing up front?!? Stearman was unaware that we were playing Notts County in two weeks and didn't comment when asked about Newton's arrival at the club. Maybe not impressed? The lack of money being spent was discussed and apparently some will be spent at some stage. Not sure how they'd know that though? Both said that Mattock was as strong as a herd of ox's for his age. Oh.....and they were both being good drinking bottled water. Both prefered to go out in Loughbourgh as Leicester is dodgy for a night out. Well as your first statement can be classed as a load of bollocks what faith can we put in the rest. How can Kaebi be playing on the left in training he isn't even in England never mind Belvoir Drive, he was on a plane and straight back out oof the country as soon as he signed on the dotted line. Porkies are being spread!
Thracian Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 And bit of a difference between being not good enough for one LCFC and the other. Yes, the Imps did nearly beat us in last season's friendly. :D

He'll be a decent player in League Two though. Even I'll admit that.
Thracian Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Well word is that he's had a meeting with Martin Allen and been told he's no in his plans and can go out on loan. NormallyI'd give MA -1 for that but I'll surely be acused of bias and will simply indulge myself with -0.5 (Running total +12). If MA cannot make a damned good attacking left back out of Sheehan he's not as good a manager as he's made out. It's one thing losing shunters like Hughes, Jarrett, Maybury or Nils but genuinely sophisticated left -backs with the energy and ability to properly support the attack is another matter. Lincoln's gain though.
Flynny Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 I'd assume that MA is going to keep one of Sheehan/Mattock and sign a more experienced left-back before the close season is up. Having two inexperienced players for a position could be risky and Mattock would seem to be the better player in the opinion of most. Not that I've ever seen Sheehan play, mind.
LCFCIMPS Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Yes, the Imps did nearly beat us in last season's friendly. :D Yes we did, we went 3-0 up or was it 3-1 but after half-time you scored 2 in like 2minutes. final score 3-3. Good match n some good football played. we also beat Notts Forest 1-0. Hope we sign Alan Sheehan cos he sounds good n like he could do well in league two.

Weren't we playing Des Wunderkids, i.e Sheehan Porter O'Grady Dodds etc.
LCFCIMPS Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Weren't we playing Des Wunderkids, i.e Sheehan Porter O'Grady Dodds etc. I do think a few of your youths/resvers started but some looked good. your winger n striker who came on 2nd half, think striker got 2 in 2minutes were ace.
Thracian Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Weren't we playing Des Wunderkids, i.e Sheehan Porter O'Grady Dodds etc. Yes, I also think we were playing our golden oldie goalkeeper Rab Douglas - at least for the bad part!.
Mort Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Yes, I also think we were playing our golden oldie goalkeeper Rab Douglas - at least for the bad part!. Yeah Douglas had the first half and was promptly (considering it was K*lly it was an amazingly timely substitution!) replaced by Logan or Hendo (think it was Logan... but I'm not sure).
LCFCIMPS Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 To be fair we were just outstanding in the first-half but 2 of your players who came on turn the match around but it ended 3-3. I hope Sheehan joins us. havn't signed yet but could join later in week.
davieG Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Link Schofield hopeful over Sheehan move Lincoln head coach John Schofield is hopeful of landing Leicester defender Alan Sheehan on a season-long loan. Schofield believes the 21-year-old is the ideal replacement for Paul Mayo, who was offloaded to League Two rivals Notts County last month. Sheehan, capped at Republic of Ireland youth level, has yet to make a decision but Schofield is optimistic he will make the switch. "We've made an offer to Alan, who has been told he can go out on loan to allow him the opportunity to play first-team football," Schofield told the Lincolnshire Echo. "Alan wanted the weekend to think about the move, which I can understand, because it's a drop down the divisions." While Lincoln's hopes of clinching Sheehan's signature appear to be promising, the hopes of Peterborough striker Danny Crow joining look increasingly remote.
dandannieldanok Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 He may as well go and play for Lincoln, it is obvious he is not thought of as first team by Allen or why would he accept Lincoln's proposal.

BigGibbo Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 He may as well go and play for Lincoln, it is obvious he is not thought of as first team by Allen or why would he accept Lincoln's proposal. send him on an initial loan til january he might end up being one of there best players if he gets a consistent run in the team then we can bring him back & give him a chance here it would be like signing a new player or on the flipside he could be a fairly average player there so we just send him back with a view to a permanent move win win

Leicester need another left-back as well as Mattock and Sheehan doesn't need to convince himself or anyone else that he's good enough for Division Two...not even Manwell! Indeed I wonder how MA's made his decision on Sheehan because he's had a whole heap of problems these last 16 months or so and I can't see how he would have ever watched him at his best. He sure looked a decent player today and cracked a quality goal, apparently. When did any left-back of Leicester's score? And, as I've said, he can make goals too - and regularly. Mattock is a good, potentially excellent player but I don't see him as being involved in goalmaking to the same extent as Sheehan and as I've said constantly, you need your attacks to start from defence. We've never had that these last two years and have never threatened to score enough goals. How much convincing do people need?. We also need someone to take free-kicks. Porter can do it, no question, but Sheehan is something of a specialist and certainly the best I've seen at City including Gudjonsson.
