Obviously we've won some cups and England have done some stuff and everyone has already mentioned all of that blah blah blah but there's one moment that stands out for me in terms of pride.

Aston Villa at home in the League Cup last season - you can have pride in world-class athletes achieving success on the highest stage but it's something else completely when you can empathise with someone you've never met, someone you've talked about a lot and felt desperately sorry for, had high hopes for, sometimes been disappointed by. I'm talking about James Wesolowski in this game. Maybe he would have gone on to achieve greater things without his injuries, maybe he still will, who knows.

There's definitely a real connection between not only our fanbase but this messageboard in particular and Weso. This messageboard was the result of a split with Talking Balls and from what I've read, the faith in younger players displayed by some of the people who came over to form Foxestalk was one of the main reasons. We've followed the Academy and had high hopes for a number of players over the last two or three years. It's always nice to see Weso's name on the teamsheet especially given his injury problems and the economy of effort shown by other players in our midfield in the last couple of years. When his name was read out before the Villa game though I had to wonder whether he was up to it, he wasn't match fit and this was going to be a tough game against Premiership opposition.

I've never seen a player give so much before or since, over 120 minutes of fast-paced football. Biting into every tackle, emerging with the ball more often than not and then setting off upfield determined to prise open the opposition defence. He went on one run I remember from right to left as you look out from the Kop up the other end of the pitch at the end of extra time, possibly something like 40 yards? To still even want to do that never mind be able to at the end of a match like that was incredible. I remember literally shaking my head in disbelief.

When Agbonlahor's winner went in it was the strangest feeling in the world. I didn't care. He ran off celebrating, the Villa players joined him, the Villa fans all went mental, our fans were in shock and none of it really mattered to me in the slightest. We'd given it such a go, made such an effort and actually worried the Villa players, fans and of course manager. Maybe it was the night-match atmosphere, or MON's return, or the shock of actually seeing us score a couple of goals but I enjoyed it all so much that I didn't mind that we went out. My chest was bursting with pride for those players, especially Wesolowski but also Henderson, Stearman, Hume, Kisnorbo and practically everyone else other than Josh Low.

One of the all-time classic cup ties I've seen us involved in (and I'm not a little kid either, I remember the Bristol City FA Cup 3rd round defeat when Junior Bent - surely broke the land speed record that day - and Jacki Dziekanowski tore us to pieces!!)

That for me was pride.

I'd agree with that. All i can remember feeling after the game was just immense pride.

S'funny. I just remember feeling the strong need to murder Josh Low.

Harsh. And about one of your own as well.

Rubbish. He was born in Bristol and he's never even been capped. At any level. You can't pin this one on us!

I thought Josh Low had a blinder. He put in one cross in particular.... oh shit that was the one that led to Gabby's goal. Wheres my good lynching rope? I'm off to Peterborough

Greece winning Euro 2004 against all the odds proving that in a team game if you have pride and passion, you can do it (unlike our overpaid monkeys who don't give two tosses about England and are more concerned about their bling). Greeks from all over the world from Canada to the UK were coming out in their masses to celebrate the success and it made me proud to realise how many of my people there are around the world.

I cant pick out one Leicester City moment because to be honest there are too many and I could list 20 on here just on them but actually sitting watching Leicester beating teams like Liverpool away and sitting in the stands in disbelief and having to pinch myself to see us become a really good side beating one of the best teams in the world and my boyhood favourites. to say it was emotional would be an understatement, especially to 35yo fans like me who never saw the good days of the 70s with Wortho and Weller and had been brought up on the cack that David Pleat was serving.

Winning the Ashes in 2005. I cant pick one particular moment from the tour but that made me proud to be an English born dude cheering on the lads against the over-confident Aussies. Its great having dual-nationality lol

Smashing the quickest 50 for the district when playing in Cambridgshire as a 14yo. 13 balls and I thought I was Ian Botham but then it all went tats up lol

When living in Leicester about 14-15 years ago. I used to play in some amateur footy team and we had a player who was about 4 years younger than all of us (we were 18, he would have been 14) who was awesome (and physically just as big may I add). He was a Leicester YTS kid called Ian Thompson who went on to play for England u-16s and one of my proudest moments, in which I felt almost big brother like to him (because I used to crunch the buggers who would try to foul him during our amateur games) was to see him pick up the ball on his own peno box for England against Scotland at Filbo, dribble past 7 players to score. I honestly felt that this lad could have made it but he obviously didn't.

Defo went City of Leicester School & lived on Rowlatts Hill I think. Has an older bro called Alan. Them two could feckin run. I know Alan could do the 100m in 10 or 11 secs. :worship:

Anyway, mine in no particular order:

  • The Hilsborough win vs Middlesboro (Got there by a fluke. A season ticket holder I worked with couldn't go & gave me his ticket  )
  • Scoring a 268 game in tenpin bowling in the league (Superbowl) :appl:
  • Representing Leicestershire in the tenpin bowling County Championships
  • Supporting Leicester City F.C when at school in the 80's. I got so much S*H*I*T for not being a Liverpool fan & for supporting a crap team. I'm so proud I didn't change teams. :scarf:
  • Leicester City in Europe :scarf:
