DB11 Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 League 2 for Leeds! I'm so happy Thank you to all the small minded chairman of the football league . I have felt sorry for a lot of clubs who have had problems in the past but not now . Next time they come cap in hand they can all get stuffed . They can go under because what go's around comes around . We will be back and all the jealous chairman of the little clubs will have to look on and we will be the ones saying up yours . Simi Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 STATEMENTLeeds United 0 Taxman 1 (og Football League) Elland RoadLeeds United are amazed by the perverse outcome of Thursday's meeting of Football League Clubs, which defied all logic, and we believe had arisen as a result of a serious misrepresentation of fact by the board of the Football League in their presentation. The only winner is HMRC and we believe the full ramifications of Thursday's decision will adversely affect football going forward for many years. "Football Family" seems to be driven by self interest. The Club is considering its options but in the meantime will be concentrating on starting its promotion campaign at Tranmere on Saturday.

Wycombe Fox Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 Start calling him Bob now 'cos he reckons he's had his arms and legs cut off as well as his balls. Taxi drivers across the land will sleep well tonight but they won't feel completely safe until his teeth are removed too! Joke; Ken Bates met with a particularly grizzly end which left him barely recognisable. The mortuary decided that it would take his best friend to identify the body so they called Dennis Wise. Dennis arrived at the mortuary and took a look at the body but wasn't sure it was Ken. He thought for a while and then asked the mortuary assistant to turn him over. Dennis spread his arse cheeks and very confidently announced that it couldn't possibly be Ken Bates. The mortuary assistant asked him how he could be so sure. Dennis replied "Well every time me and Gus walked down the street with him people used to say 'here comes Ken Bates with the two arseholes'. This body has only got one!"
Simi Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 As soon as he said "its not funny" I burst into laughter  That is so funny. "It's not funny" Oh but Dennis, it is.
Thracian Posted 10 August 2007 Posted 10 August 2007 It's amusing to hear Ken Bates complaining about fairness after he clearly sought to avoid just punishment - and the spirit of the rules if not the letter - by the timing of his decision to go into administration. That said, there must be something wrong with a system that allows any judgements like this to be made by people, in fact opponents, with such obviously vested interests. http://www.leedsunitedworld.co.uk/node/46
Daggers Posted 10 August 2007 Posted 10 August 2007 There's a bigger problem with a system that penalises clubs in financial trouble by almost condemning them to a relegation and even deeper financial trouble. Ignoring the fact that it's Bates/Wise/Leeds (which we can all have a good laugh at), deducting points from clubs for financial reasons is just plain wrong.

I've never agreed with this 10 point reduction for Administration, the first action should be to ban those responsible from any involvement in running a football club.

"Yes," said Karen Brady last night "there is a very rigorous process in place in order to prove that people involved with clubs are fit and proper." The point at which she said that she has had to go through it made me a touch incredulous as to its rigour. "I had to fill in a quite lengthy questionnaire." Hmm....

As if they're the first club it's happened to. Teams have been relegated for less. Look at Swindon in 1990 - or Boston who went down TWO divisions. Bates knew what the rules were, tried to fiddle them and failed. End of.
