Tommy G Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Looking to sell my current motor within the next fortnight. (It's a T reg Black Fiesta, PM me if you're intersted/want details) Looking for an upgrade to perhaps a 1.6 Fiesta Zetec Sport. Im 19 so can't really afford anything above a 2.0L as the insurance would be horrendous. Anyone got a Zetec S? Or anyone got any ideas on a new motor, got around 3-4K to spend... Cheers

PM me for details if interested.
SystonFox Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Zetec S? i'd rather walk. go for a clio sport or saxo VTR/VTS
The People's Hero Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 The zetec S is a nice looking motor and not bad in terms of 'grunt' for a 19 year old.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Saxo VTR is your best bet, they are quick and insurance can be bought at a reasonable price. Just don't chav it up!!
The People's Hero Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Saxo VTR is your best bet, they are quick and insurance can be bought at a reasonable price. Just don't chav it up!! I'd steer clear unless you've got the money to get it lowered as they look about 5 cm too high! Looks like a boat. Of the Saxo's, surely the VTS is the way to go. That said, I'd never buy a citroen anyway.

VTS has double the valve of the VTR, will rape your insurance and will probably be the lads end on a bend in Brinklow!!
The People's Hero Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 VTS has double the valve of the VTR, will rape your insurance and will probably be the lads end on a bend in Brinklow!! Good point. If you can afford the insurance on a VTS, you might as well buy yourself a car which doesn't rattle when it goes round corners, instead.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Good point. If you can afford the insurance on a VTS, you might as well buy yourself a car which doesn't rattle when it goes round corners, instead. No, that's a corsa!!
The People's Hero Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 No, that's a corsa!! DON'T buy a corsa. Suddenly, the Saxo looks like a good option! Build quality on Saxo's is abysmal though. I've never seen so much plastic ever and none of it fits.
James. Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Tommy sir, just PM'd you. Let me know if that helps.

I've never seen so much plastic ever and none of it fits. Interior is guff too, but if you're buying a relatively new car (02-03 plate) for around 3-4k with a factory fitted body kit you can't really expect it to be as good as a corsa. Nippy little buggers though!! I'm going to buy myself a new car me thinks in Jan, are those Fiesta ST's any good?
The People's Hero Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 I'm going to buy myself a new car me thinks in Jan, are those Fiesta ST's any good? A few of my mates have them. They are quick. All of them have spent money on tarting them up though (up-rated brakes, lowering the car, re-doing the exhaust) - two of them are now looking to get FOCUS STs whilst the other has an order placed for a Subaru Impreza. They're nice cars and you can pick them up after only a few thousand miles as people seem to get bored of them! I'd go the whole hog and get the Focus ST though.

A am not looking to buy new obviously, like you say, a second hand ownership with a relatively low mileage is what I am seeking to avoid the depreciation value. Suckers

Suckers You're probably looking more at a Fiesta ST than a Focus ST then mate. You'll do okay in terms of picking up a lot of car for your money at a year old or so.. (perhaps a bit older) - I'd check the insurance premiums first though as they have gone and got themselves a really bad reputation as a boy racers' favourite (for obvious reasons - big engine, light car, reasonable price for the power, stripes as standard (if you want them), easy to mod etc).

Tommy G Posted 3 September 2007 Author Posted 3 September 2007 Zetec S? i'd rather walk.go for a clio sport or saxo VTR/VTS No thanks on the saxo front, ultimate chav cars im afraid. As for a clio sport, its something like insurance group 17 which would mean the insurance would be unbelievable at the age of 19. I will probably get a clio sport when im about 20/21..but if your looking for a quick car thats small go for a clio V6. Same build as your standard clio, with a bodykit (doesnt look chavvy though) very wide and the engine is in the back, hence no rear seats. Its also a 3 litre which makes the clio sport look like a baby.. this should give you more of an insight. Clio V6 3.0L I'd steer clear unless you've got the money to get it lowered as they look about 5 cm too high! Looks like a boat.Of the Saxo's, surely the VTS is the way to go. That said, I'd never buy a citroen anyway. neither would I, the build of them is shag plus there a bit takky when it comes to the interior. TBJS, when your talking about a focus ST, do you mean the newest shape them come in bright orange/metallic blue & red. There are the shit..
Maybes Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Dont buy french cars. I hate saxo's they are ghey. Im with a few of you on the fiesta ST...this is what I will be purchasing in Feb 08.
The People's Hero Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Anyone want to buy an MR2 for a few more grand than it's worth?
Sir Fynwy Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Anyone want to buy an MR2 for a few more grand than it's worth? It's not the best time of year to sell a soft top, but that spider may be cheaper now as well, good luck mate.

coale39 Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Anyone want to buy an MR2 for a few more grand than it's worth? Haven't ya just got it? Oh and Celica's are CLASS.
