Finnegan Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 So I owe Burton's about £90 and utilities about £60, which'll leave me with about £50 overdraft left. My remaining income for the month's about £280. My rent is £300, I have to eat, travel and generally afford to exist and have just been told we have to pay £1200 in Council Tax with our right to pay in installments revoked. Wooo! ....
Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 Council tax??? I thought students didn't pay that. We didn't pay anything like that I swear.
Guest Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 Change house every term. Sir Fynwy swore by it, apparently.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 I'm... a drop out. Christ alive. Are you still living with a bunch of students?
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 I'm... a drop out. Run back to Wales my friend, not even the bravest of debt collectors will follow you there.

And my dvd player just packed up. Oh and my laptop. Council tax, tv license people, insurers, utilities and mobile phone all want paying.
Finnegan Posted 9 October 2007 Author Posted 9 October 2007 Christ alive. Are you still living with a bunch of students? We've had massive turn over in our house over the last few months. It's four students and three normal-people at the moment. The third of the latter isn't on the contract yet, he might be replacing me - I'm planning to come home anyway. But obviously, what I owe I still owe.

Ring the council tax office and tell them your situation. They will help you if they feel you need help in paying. Same with your utilities, ring them too, they will assist. Wouldn't worry about the store cards until they threaten you with Bailiffs!
Finnegan Posted 9 October 2007 Author Posted 9 October 2007 Narh need to get the store card done first, really. Why heap further interest on when I can technically afford to pay? I didn't want it in the first place, I just needed a suit.

If your moving home do what I did, "Mum can I have a grand please, I'll pay you back in installments no interest charges please, tar"

Sorry just made me laugh describing workers as normal people, hence suggesting students are not normal! Cheers!

Finnegan Posted 9 October 2007 Author Posted 9 October 2007 The parental unit aren't too well off, they aren't really an option. My old man's already immensely uneager about me going back. One of my flatmate's parents pays his rent, his tuition fees and he still gets hugely overdrawn and his mam just bails him out. Cnut.

The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 Speak to your bank - they will sort out your overdraft, especially if you threaten to take out a credit card elsewhere.
Guest Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 The CAB are worth talking to as well, they can give advice on how best to prioritise and reorganise your finances.
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 Jan Aarne Lisa makes a good point. Whoever the CAB are.

I'm going to start asking them everything. What shall I have for lunch? Will I need a jumper today? Who's going to win the 4.05 at Kempton?
Finnegan Posted 9 October 2007 Author Posted 9 October 2007 Overdraft extention not an option? The A+L don't want to give money, in any form, to anyone at the moment. I've only had my shiney, new, not-student overdraft a few months I can't see them extending it, really.
Geo V Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 A quick way for anyone to make £100 and its legal One of the business I am involved in is one of these Claims companies that get you compensation if you were involved in some sort of accident. We offer £50 to anyone who refers someone to us and once one of our solicitors accept the case, we get paid and then pay you. People don't have to wait the 3-12 months for the client to get there settlement, all we need is the solicitors to say they`ll take the case and we all get paid If any Foxestalk member has had a friend or family member who were involved in an accident or even if you want to sit in the waiting room at the Leicester Infirmary bugging people who have just been knocked over by a passing car , just give me a PM and we`ll send them the relevant forms and you could be a week away from £100, not the £50 we usually offer people. Either that or sell your ar$es for the extra income!
Finnegan Posted 9 October 2007 Author Posted 9 October 2007 Have you had an accident in the last six months, Geo? I could arrange one...
Geo V Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 Have you had an accident in the last six months, Geo? I could arrange one... These companies make so much money its unbelievable and we put about ten claims a week and the bloke who I am partners with on this venture only does this as a sidetrack at present! Listen mate, it you don't know anyone who has had an accident, have one yourself. As a resident of London all you need to do is walk down Tottenham High Road after 7pm and you`ll sure have enough marks on you to make a claim yourself! Either that or walk down one of the craters in the pavement on Wood Green High road and your in.
