Thracian Posted 13 November 2007 Posted 13 November 2007 In deference to some of our more cynical posters and to show I have no desire to spoil their evening I would say the following about our emerging left-back Hussein Kaebi. 1) The lad had a tidy first half. He was crisp in the tackle, disciplined in his positioning and if he made mistakes I wasn't watching or I quickly forgot all about them. Leicester turned around 3-0 up and if you're generous he might, one or two steps removed, have played a part in the Chambers-assisted Odhiambo goal. 2) I forgot to mention this but Kaebi also played a part in the first goal. He misplaced a short, square pass but very cleverly because the Walsall player who collected the ball was too slow to prevent Hayes dispossessing him and, when this happened, Hayes quickly fed the ball to Odhiambo for goal number one. 3) In the second half it was Big Bad Beaglehole who took off the last our main midfielders and it was totally unfair of the Walsall manager to use Kaebi's size as a factor against him when they identified their preferred point of attack after that happened. Using a big attacker against Kaebi was blatantly heightist and not in the spirit of the game. The midfielder who threaded a pass behind him was hardly being reasonable either. That was spacist. It was late in the game and the move was clearly designed to make Leicester fans miserable, not to mention Kaebi. 4) In consideration of the above, and mindful that there is considerable demand for Kaebi to play in the first team anyway I wish to revive my ratings based on the unreasonable tactics employed by Walsall and the fact that Leicester no longer had their strongest team in the field during the last 20 minutes when Walsall scored. To Kaebi I award a 10. Quite apart from anything else that rating should inspire him, encourage him and make him realise that only Academy players should be critically rated by anyone because they have invariably been at the club longest, know the most about what's expected and should therefore face the harshest demands.

Controversial or not. It's a great fockin' post.
danny. Posted 13 November 2007 Posted 13 November 2007 he missed 1-2 tackles last night and was caught out once or twice positionally speaking, but I thought he had a very good game overall, he got back and put some fantastic tackles second half, one in our penalty area where the walsall striker looks pretty certain to score, ran back very quickly and got a great sliding tackle in. He doesn't look world class, but compared to the likes of stearman or mattock, I think he looks pretty good.

I don't know any first team full-back who gives tall opponents several free headers at the far post in one match or who's watched three goals conceded from their side of the pitch in 20 minutes, even accepting the first was a move which was followed by a corner. We were desperately exposed. It is so easy to gripe at first team plaeyrs like Stearman but our goals against record is perfectly good. Which is far more than can be said about the reserves' goals against. I wouldn't have one reserves defender anywhere near the first team right now. And if I chose another right back it would be James Chambers.
Thracian Posted 13 November 2007 Author Posted 13 November 2007 Not another thread about this fella Pity there's not the same determination to get King in the side.
danny. Posted 13 November 2007 Posted 13 November 2007 And if I chose another right back it would be James Chambers. I agree with you on that one

davieG Posted 13 November 2007 Posted 13 November 2007 Isn't he a right back? Or have I been misled all this time He's a right sided player currently playing left back for the reserves.

Thracian Posted 13 November 2007 Author Posted 13 November 2007 Isn't he a right back? Or have I been misled all this time Perhaps we should have a poll. He's only been here three months or so and the way we sign players there's no reason to believe anyone would have the faintest idea where he plays. Once we've voted on his best position perhaps we could convey that message to the club and get someone to play him there. After all this debate he might turn out to be a spring-heeled goalkeeper.
