Corky Posted 30 April 2008 Posted 30 April 2008 the avatar says it all, you are going to end up with dowie in league 1, good luck with that As a former member of the third tier of English football, can you give us an insight into what it's like? You should be used to it.

Corky Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 Holloway's Been Unusually Quiet This Week!I haven't come across a single comment. I wonder why He's lost his voice? Or maybe he's realised the fans aren't listening, or taking in, the crap he spouts on a weekly basis?

Kilworthfox Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 Something to do with Mandaric's final push? That is not a pretty image!
Tabou Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 He's lost his voice? Or maybe he's realised the fans aren't listening, or taking in, the crap he spouts on a weekly basis? Even his usually hillarious blog on the BBC doesn't have the non football bits???
davieG Posted 2 May 2008 Author Posted 2 May 2008 Ian Holloway column The Leicester manager talks about his team's fight against relegation on the final day of the Championship season in his weekly column. With the terrible 3-1 result we had against Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday, it hasn't been a very pleasant week. We had a chance of sorting our Championship fate; instead everybody has us going down this weekend because we have (second-placed) Stoke City away. There will be loads of Stoke fans ready for a party - they need only a point for promotion, but I'm sure they will be going for all three. So we have to upset their party, if we get a win it almost guarantees we stay up. I know that looks a tall order, but it's fact. We have to go the Britannia Stadium with the right mentality. That's absolutely vital, that's what we have been talking about all week. If you look at last Saturday, we went 1-0 up really early. But I showed the players videos of how we stopped closing down and pressing and you just can't do that at this level. And you can't miss your penalties either - if we had scored it would've changed the whole complexion of the game. So we've had to be tough this week; we have to show our mettle because the last game is absolutely crucial. This match is about those whose live and breath Leicester City - I have to ensure the players understand that. We have had some very good results away to the bigger teams this season - Bristol City and West Brom for example - but we're going to need to do that again on Sunday. However, It's not just about us and Southampton - I've had to remind people there are five other teams that can go down on one game. I still believe we can do it - and I have to make the players believe that too. But you have to be careful about how you drum that message into them because you don't want to create unnecessary pressure. Some players can cope with it, others aren't as good. But one thing is for sure, the players care. I have never faced a situation like this on the last day of the season. This club has a very proud tradition, no-one wants to go down. And my whole future depends on this match. I accept full responsibility for all the things that have happened, we want to make it right, but we have one game to make it right. These are the times you need to fight and battle - I can assure you that's what the lads intend to do. As far as I'm concerned, courage is doing what you are afraid to do. But there can be no courage without fear - so we have to feel that fear, the fear of failure. The match is on a Sunday at 2pm, which has slightly changed our usual preparations. We've looked long and hard about who is fit - we've got a fair few injuries at the moment, but that's irrelevant. The more you talk about it, the worse it gets - you just need to bring the game on.

Good time ahead, i hope Isn't there any chance we an feel sorry for him ?!!? the avatar says it all, you are going to end up with dowie in league 1, good luck with that The Cov fan )?) must have some recommendation at least? Over - ALL. Isn't there any chance we an feel sorry for him ?!!? L'es question is (why speak English at this time) ..... .. .. can we REALLY blame Ollie, all told, really?. L'es question is (why speak English at this time) ....... .. can we REALLY blame Ollie, all told, really?. So, who, blames, who? Our downfall.
Kilworthfox Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Can you make anything out from WiredTeary's post? Yes a miniature village but that's about it
lookwhaticando Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Can you make anything out from WiredTeary's post? It was even more confusing before I merged the four replies into one.

At least the "accepting full responsibility" is a step forward. Sometimes I get the feeling he wants to learn from his mistakes but then I felt that fleetingly about previous managers yet, when push came to shove, their natural self always got the upper hand. Take tomorrow. There is absolutely no way we can batter side-by-side with Stoke, not will we be able to mount a sustained rearguard action and just hope we pinch a goal or can resolutely defend a lead if we get it. We have to pass and move the ball fast. Keep possession, make their big guys move. And if we get ahead we must do more of the same. We have to support in numbers and we have to stretch their back line to breaking ensure their are gaps to exploit. I fail to see how anything else has a chance of working.

I agree with that Thrac, look at our goal against them at the Walkers. Good move, passing along the floor and well-finished off. They have a huge team, so if we try to play football, it would suit us and hurt them. Play them at their own game, we'll get hammered.

The only time we play football is when the opposition is down to 10 men. Which Stoke player do you think will have a "Luke Moore moment"?
