I really thought we had a chance last night with Fryatt back in.

Why?! :dunno:

A lightweight, slow and pretty much ineffectual striker isnt going to help us... the likes of John and Campbell when fit perhaps, but frankly Fryatt has never done anything to warrant the love-in he gets.

Im in a way annoyed that the penalty decision masked what was a piss poor performance from certain members of this football team. Heres my ratings anyway.

Fulop 6 - Dodgy kicking including the one that lead to the goal but made some smart saves.

N'Gotty 5 - Some crucial tackles but always a mile behind his man and passing was sloppy at times.

Mcauley 6 - Dodgy distribution but made some timely interceptions showing coolness on the ball at times.

Kisnorbo 6 - Wasn't doing too badly and was unlucky to get sent off, grew into the game after an iffy start.

Mattock 7 - The star man on the night I felt, stuck to his task well after the first goal and showed an attacking option from full back.

Kaebi 6 - Didn't get the ball often enough but what a jump this lad has, isnt afraid to stick a tackle in, showed classy touches and kept the ball well, looks promising.

King 4 - Awful display, never put his foot on the ball, forget when he made a pass if indeed he did and was like a headless chicken.

Clemence 3 - Pants. When your team go down to 10 men its up to the captain to keep his head and encourage those around him, Clemence did nothing and if anything lost his head as well as Owen Garvan, time and again. Strip this clown of the captaincy so he can concentrate on learning the basics again.

Sheehan 5 - In and out of the game, much like Kaebi, was alienated out on the flank.

Hume 6 - Good finish for the goal but wasn't having it all his own way up front against some physically strong defenders, doesn't help when its being hoofed either.

Fryatt 6 - In and out of the game, neat touches and passes when he got it, looked tired up front alone though.

In which case, he deserves to be shot!!:angry::angry:

There is NO excuse whatsoever for his behaviour tonight. He should face a lengthy ban until he's proved himself capable of learning the basic laws of the game.

But knowing the fcukwits at the FA, he'll probably be fast-tracked for promotion into the Premier League, even Europe!

Says it all.

I wonder about the bloke who oversees refereeing standards too.

Because the standards are bloody awful in general.

Right i wont bother rating everyone as i'm too knackered from the trip last night. But some observations...

As already discussed the penalty looked dubious, the linesman gave it but even if it was a pen the decision to send Kissa off was ridiculous. Thereafter the game was over as a contest and became an exercise in damage limitation.

However we didnt help ourselves through passing awfully for most of the game - the person i hold most responsible is our captain and our so-called 'class player' Stephen Clemence - he should be using his experience to help knit an inexperienced midfield together but his inlfuence on proceedings was non-existant. Holloway needs to sort him out.

Was very interested to see Kaebi start, a brave decision by Holloway. Whilst be no means looking the world-beater that some seem to think he is, he at least showed some promise that if used in the right way could be an asset to this club. Problem was his team-mates didnt seem to trust him enough with the ball, twice in the first half he made great runs down the right only for the player on the ball to ignore him and switch the ball the other way into a congested part of he pitch. He needs to hug the touchline a bit more and play as a winger, his pace could make him an excellent outlet on the break for an early ball over the top of the defence. But his team-mates need to trust him and learn to exploit his abilities.

Hume had an excellent match, and his goal was fantastic...deserving of a bit more praise than its had on here so far, felt it was a mistake to take him off instead of Fryatt who had a pretty ineffectual game.

Glad you made me smile.... I feel so sodding depressed about yesterday.

I know the feeling. I always think a red card should be a last resort but referees these days seem to love wielding them for anything. You should be 100% sure about something like that and to have to consult a linesman, it seems ridiculous to give a red card AND a penalty. The red card just imbalances the game so much and we've had a few hundred fans there who have gone to see us play, not to see the game changed by an awful decision. And they're not accountable either, seemingly. With the money in the game these days, matches appear to matter more and something's going to have to be done before a wrong decision affects the title race in the Premiership and the media implodes. I've never been in favour of video replays myself but if officials are willing to ruin games completely like last night then it's the only option.

Red Cards should only be used for dangerous and violent behaviour. I don't even like the 2 yellows sending off. There are alternatives, it just needs a bit of imagination.

He shows some nice touches I think - there's better to come. Ollie knows how to work with strikers apparently

I dunno, if you heave someone down in the box to stop them scoring, its not dangerous or violent but most likely it saved a goal being conceded??

I do agree on the whole though that less red cards should be given out. It completly changes a game.

Award a penalty goal if it's so certain and either sin bin the guy for a short while or introduce a card where they are banned for the next game but stay on the pitch. There's lots of options to immediate and final dismissals.

or a yellow card perhaps???

why does everyone constantly feel football needs to be changed into something else???

IF any rules get changed, it won't be until the start of the new season anyway.

Fryatt on his own up front was never really going to work for us yesterday I didn't think. Maybe Holloway left his shubs a little late, I would of gambled with Cort on, just for something different, apparently he had a decent game at Burnley so why not.

As soon as it got to 2-1 though I never really visioned a way back for us.

We were lucky to keep it to 3 to be honest. There no mugs and they made us look a very very poor side. I was disapointed with the lack of effort from most of our players last night.

But that's not going to happen, In reality he be "punished" by being demoted a few leagues (How that's a punishment to the referee i'm not sure - The way I see it, it's punishing the teams in that league :dunno:) and be sent to officiate a Notts County game no doubt.

I was there, and lets be honest, it was an even game until the sending off and penalty. we were right in it.

I went to the post match press conference, and ollie was over half an hour late because he has been talking to the ref. and he wasnt a happy chappy in the conference. Having said that, he managed to throw in about five ollieisms!

He emphasised the fact that he would be strengthening the squad, and said that kaebi had a good game. I was impressed with him i have to say.
