Canaries most probably, for warmth anyway. I've never been but its probably the warmest place to go, which isn't tooo far at that time of year.

The missus likes Prague.

EMA is not ideal for us though, should have said - I'm based in Maidstone, Kent.

You can just put in the dates you want to go and the airport you want to fly from and choose anywhere.

You then have 200-300 options-It's good because you can then eliminate the options by de-selecting the one's that don't appeal to you

I'm looking myself for a week in Jan

Thaliand, India, Sri Lanka? :dunno:

Should be able to grab a bargain at that time of year. (Just avoid half term or everywhere will be teeming with kids). Ugghhh.

I usually pay a bit extra to guarantee the hotel I stay in won't be teeming with kids. Thomson's Gold etc.

Was looking at the Maldives but that's way way way out of my budget.

Phuket looks nice, will have to check out prices.

Phuket's nice, but very touristy. Avoid Pattaya like the plague. Nicest parts of Thailand are the island areas down south... Krabi, Phi Phi etc, but you tend to have to pay a premium for 'em. There have been good deals to Malaysia recently - very nice... cheaper generally than the nicer Thai resorts.

What about Mexico? Mind you, Cancun's starting to resemble the Costas so maybe not, unless you can find a quieter resort.

Playa del Carmen it is then-spent 2 weeks there in May and it's gorgeous.

It'll never get as brash as Cancun but it won't be long before the developers spoil the place.

Two options here, you can book your own flights and get dirt cheap digs in Playa or book an AI in one of the hotels which of course means your away from the main town, but cabs are dirt cheap.

http://www.playa.info/ is a good site if this floats your boat.

I wanted to go to the Far East, but was overwhelmed with the choices; Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan. In the end, I thought Phuket.
