The other Ollie Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Trust me, i sympathise... it did my head in. A number between 20 and 30... (divisible by 3 with 1 added) Thank you soooooooooooooo much !
The other Ollie Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Right. You have x amount of fish. But the can't be divided into 3 equal pieces. So by throwing one in, they can now take a share which divides into 3 equally. It works like that as each person chucks a fish back, and takes their equal share. Ta - got it - dohhhhhhhhh !.
AoWW Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Stuck on 25 Help please? Ok, you need to work backwards. Remember it takes one day to DOUBLE, and 60 days to be FULL. HALF - the opposite of DOUBLE - would mean you need to take away how many days?

AoWW Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 If it took ONE day to double, it'll take ONE day to half, right. So, how many days to you need to take from 60?

Asha Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 How often do you have post on a Sunday? I'm sure in 14 hours since his post he's solved it by now. That one stumped me too. I kept guessing stuff like 'in church', 'praying', 'the vicar' Got it now though.
lookwhaticando Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Who also had trouble with that question and had to ask me for the answer. But don't let that sway you. Not for the first time, either. I seem to recall being asked for assistance on matters mathematical, as a matter of urgency in fact as the answers were required for the next day's class.

Im off work till 11 now but if anyone has any clues for me theyd be gladly appreciated. i thought that itd be 171-201 added up to 3800 but apparently not. The sum of each line is the line number cubed. e.g. 1x1x1 = 1 2x2x2 = 8 etc. so 20x20x20....
