Simi Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Sol Campbell says verbal abuse towards footballers and managers has spiralled out of control and it is time for the authorities to start taking action.Campbell says he has come under fire himself while Sir Alex Ferguson, Harry Redknapp and Avram Grant have all complained about crowd behaviour. "It's out of hand now," the Portsmouth and England defender told BBC Radio 4. "We can all take the booing or light banter, but when it gets to the realms of verbal abuse it's a bridge too far." Rest of article. What a big girl he is. I guess rivalry means nothing to this man? At least it never crossed his mind when he left Spurs for Arsenal?
Tommy G Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Rest of article. What a big girl he is. I guess rivalry means nothing to this man? At least it never crossed his mind when he left Spurs for Arsenal? Not surprised, doesn't he go for the brown? I'm sure I heard rumours he was...
Hullfox Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 The day he and his fellow mercenaries stop criticising and abusing the match officials and their opponents is the day I'll stop criticising the overpaid set of tw@ts.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 The day he and his fellow mercenaries stop criticising and abusing the match officials and their opponents is the day I'll stop criticising the overpaid set of tw@ts. Bravo!!

Exactly, what a joker Campbell is. If he wants to hear some abuse, go down to the non league games and hear some real abuse. Nice car you got anyway Campbell, where you get that from? Nice house as well mate? Nice wife as well, how did you get that you ugly nobber? Must have a good job.
Floating Fox Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Complete twat, and that nobber in charge of the PFA has got involved now. How exactly are you going to stop it and how do you draw a line between "light-banter" & abuse? Cu nt.

The voice of Sol Campbell will always be listened to. The voice of the average football fan wont.
filbertway Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 He's blatently the reason we didn't qualify for Euro 2008, bottled it and moved out the way of the Croats 3rd goal

Simi Posted 20 December 2007 Author Posted 20 December 2007 Never, were truer words spoken than this from Robbie Keane. Keane plays down fan abuse claimTottenham striker Robbie Keane believes footballers should not be too sensitive over verbal abuse from fans. Portsmouth's Sol Campbell called for the Football Association to act after claiming abuse has "got out of hand". But Keane told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Verbal abuse - I've had it, but nothing that would make me go crazy. "I don't know what has been said to Sol. It obviously must have been something that really upset him for him to ask the FA to intervene." Interview: Spurs skipper Robbie Keane Campbell joins a list of senior figures, which includes Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp and Chelsea coach Avram Grant, who have complained about crowd behaviour. The England defender felt so strongly about the situation that he rang the BBC to raise the issue himself. But Keane played down his experiences of abuse from the terraces. "Things like that don't really bother me," added Keane. "You get fans who say things in the heat of the moment. "Sometimes fans try to give you a little bit of stick and I give a little bit back to them. It's just a bit of banter really. "Fans say things they don't really mean. It's a spur of the moment thing, getting a little bit of stick here and there doesn't hurt anyone. "I don't like it when people swear when kids are sat beside them. You shouldn't swear in front of kids. If there are no kids there and someone gives you a bit of banter, I usually laugh and say something back to them." And Keane defended players who swear on the pitch, insisting it is not meant to offend anyone. "The fans are not giving abuse to ridicule you, they are saying it out of frustration," he stated. "It's the same for a player on the pitch. If a bad decision goes against you, you say something out of frustration in those few seconds. "We all do it. We are not doing it to upset anyone." Well done sir. A footballer with common sense.
DB11 Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Never, were truer words spoken than this from Robbie Keane. Well done sir. A footballer with common sense. 'Eh That don't make any sense. Footballer... common sense. Surely not?
Raj Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Listened to his intervies on radio 2 yday after work. Does sound like a whiging little wuss "all i want to do is playe Football,i dont deserve getting insulted" Im sure Spurs fans dont think the same sol...
Asha Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I think we can sing what the fook we want. I ain't standing at a match and instead of singing 'Who the **** hell are you' when an opposition player is taking a corner whatever, i aint going to sing, 'excuse me sir, but could you tell us your name...fook it no. it's just wrong. We pay, we sing what we want. Verbal abuse is part of football, footballers should deal with it, they get enough money. I'd take 30k a week to kick a ball for 90 minutes and then have everyone swear at me. fook everyone, i got 30k
Fat Ron Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 90K a week and he doesnt want to be insulted.... **** off Sol you dick, Pay me 90K a year and you can call me want you want!!! I pay £3 subs to play each sunday and probebly get called worse than him
Asha Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I mean OK, if it were racism i could understand. But im guessing he only means being called a willy puller (which he probably is) or a dickhead or something. Get over it jeez. I could get called that on this, water off a ducks back.
Fat Ron Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I mean OK, if it were racism i could understand. But im guessing he only means being called a willy puller (which he probably is) or a dickhead or something. Get over it jeez. I could get called that on this, water off a ducks back. If it is racism then Im sure he would have mentioned it... To be honest, I cant see how the FA getting involved with help anyway, If they start dishing out more banning orders for everyone thats shouts any form of frustrated abuse, the grounds would be empty... including the directors box and the Managers bench!!
Raj Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 To be fair, some fans probably go abit OTT. Just cos some geezer gets paid a bucket load still doesnt give others the right to abuse him does it? We only shout abuse at them cos we know they aint gonna do anything back to us. BUT remember Cantona's Kung Fu kick and ZZ's headbutt to Mazzzerati(!)?? Even Footballers have a limit to what they take..... However i will continue to abuse and shoot insults...and thats just to our fcukers!!!!
Staf Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Sol Campbell is pathetic loads of footballers get given abuse but none of them complain just this joker
purpleronnie Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 No wonder Sol never went abroad to play club football, englands nothing compared to what abuse he would have got elsewhere. WIMP!!!
