DanTheFox07 Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 After watching us play against Wolves I am A lot happier than the week previous when we were all disappointed by the way our team played. Now though i think we have reason to be optimistic, it`s clear we have a manager in place that is much better than the previous weve had here! he`s come and seen where the club is going wrong and made it clear that we have to move on and get rid of players that arent good enough to play for this club. Most people would say that anyone could see that we need to get rid of those players, we still need to rebuild and install confidence and stability to the rest of the squad that has been lacking for so long. Ollie i believe will get it right where so many of our managers in the past havent in the transfer market. From what ive seen of the players he signed during his tenure at plymouth I sure he will bring some much needed quality into the squad. People on this forum have said that well struggle to get the signings we need but were one of the best supported clubs in the division and im sure ollie will sell the club to perspective new signings well. All that said i am and i hope the rest of us our looking forward to the future!!! Onwards and upwards for us i think now. Keep The Faith.

I really hope that we do well in 2008 and make some progress in getting towards the play-offs but. . . (I deteste that word ) I don't see how this coming year will change from last year At the most we might sign 6 new players but at the end of the day the sqaud will still consist of players that are currantly playing now, so surely with the main bulk of the squad playing badly now that will continue into the new year. Then theres the fact that we should get rid of the shite before we start adding to that number and I can't really see which clubs are going to want to buy them quite frankly!! Add to that MM's cash, which compared to the likes of QPR and the other teams that are currantly having massive cash injections, seems quite pathetic don't you think? We could be out-bidded for every decent player we look at so it'll be just like the adams era seemingly with no cash. In all honesty though we shouldn't be needing too many new, fresh players because the players that are here now should be fighting for thier places in the starting eleven, not waiting to see if their going to be put on the transfer list and just be content to collect thier wages in the meantime!! Its an absolute disgrace I really do hope we hit the giddy heights of a promotion place next year but it looks more likely that we'll be seeing more of the same old city, just under a different manager
Dames Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 I'm looking forward to the new year this time around. Last year we didn't have much to look forward too with the Mandaric saga just dragging on and on and player wise we had to settle for Glombard, Jarret, Yeates and Horsefield. This January we have a manager that knows what he wants and what the team needs and we have a fair bit more money in the bank to attract better players. Hopefully with the new signings and a bit of hard work on the training pitch our league form will improve and we will have a platform to build upon for next season which will probably be alot bigger than this one.
Messi Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 New Year What Will The Future Bring... PROMOTION but not for us
davieG Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 We've had false dawns aplenty so I'll stick to my usual hope for this time of the year that we will avoid relegation.

Agreed, there's no point looking for promotion when we're in the bottom 3. It's like if your second you're not thinking oh i hope we're not relegated. We have to be more realistic, atm 21st would be a great place to finish.
Matt Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 We've had false dawns aplenty so I'll stick to my usual hope for this time of the year that we will avoid relegation. Thats exactly my thoughts, although I was waiting for someone else posted it before I got labeled as pessimistic/moaning again. As for playing well at Wolves and that has lifted spirits and optimism, correct it should but all I will say is don't get carried away we have actually played well a few times this season (You could count them on one hand) but then the next game they play awful. Also, Wolves = A good team in the league, Our players played well, coincidence? I stick by my comments on our players raising there game against the "bigger", "more challenging", "better" teams...coincidence?

In terms of raising our game against Premiership opposition fair enough (Fulham last season, Villa and Chelsea this season) but not sure if your argument holds water in the league. We saved possibly our worst performace so far this season for Charlton away. Also lost to West Brom and Southampton at home. Lost to Ipswich. And so on... The only decent team we've beat really is Watford and if I hear any more about that f**king game I'll start breaking stuff. Bristol City away I guess. Bottom line though is there's not really any evidence to suggest we raise our game in the league, particularly compared to the cup games.

I just wanted to slag the players off even more about basically raising there games when they want to.
