arab83 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 A few names back at ya, Rab Douglas, Stephen Hughes and Alan Maybury Douglas, absolute rubbish, was never rated. Maybury, did a good job for Hearts but cant say i was overly impressed. Hughes, again never impressed me but to be fair he has done well this season at Motherwell.
arab83 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Momo SyllaJoe Hamill Peter Canero All terrible! Sylla, terrible, f*knows why martin o'neill signed him, not like he was that good for St Johnstone Canero, yes we know he is crap, he came to United from LC Hamill, left such an impression i cant remember what he was like.

Hughes, again never impressed me but to be fair he has done well this season at Motherwell. wasnt he the scottish international keeper for awhile? If he was the best keeper your country could produce and he was never rated then you have proved out point with your very own words! And if Hughes is doing well at Motherwell and was so crap for us then that again proves our point. Thanks for your help!
arab83 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Barry ferguson was never the player he was at rangers for blackburn.petrov hasnt really hit it off at villa Boumsong.......enough said really! considering that these three were dubbed as "world beaters" in the SPL just shows how cack the division is. Barry Ferguson, actually was a good player for Blackburn, was nothing to do with not hacking it that he returned, i was disappointed he cameback, very good player. Petrov, good energetic player, but went missing in a lot of games when up here. Boumsong, ehhh never hailed as a worldbeater except by Rangers fans when he first arrived, they were laughing they got 8mil for him as he was being found out bigtime uphere. Still your trying to compare the Premiership and the SPL. Championship and SPL there isnt a lot in it outside the old firm, bigger more athletic players is the difference, skill levels no, better football played, no. SPL is good standard a league for a country like Scotland and cant think of a better top league of a country with as small population like ours, or better attendances, and remember the money thats pumped into english football compared to ours aswell is night and day.

Yes he was, and to be fair he did have a couple good seasons but he was always a bit dodgy aswell, we didnt have any other good keepers around then for whatever reason, Goram was well past it, however we are in safe hands now with Allan McGregor & Craig Gordin(overrated as he is but still when in-form like he was in 2005 then very very good), it doesnt prove any point as you should check out some of the crap keepers playing down south, english born aswell. Hughes is actually playing in a good team that plays very attacking and attractive football, but then they have a good manager in Mark McGhee, could be the difference, up here although the game is physical, the players arent as big on the whole, but we play football on the deck more than the championship sides seem to do, better on the eye.

To be fair I quite like the Scottish League, only because I love Celtic. They have probably produced one of the best natural strikers ever though in Henrik Larsson.
Babylon Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 THIS THREAD IS ABOUT ODIHAMBO AND NOT THE MERITS OF SCOTTISH FOOTBALL.
Master Fox Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I think the SPL is proabably the 8th best league in Europe
woznotwos Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 was just getting annoyed reading this thread but babylon has just put things right!!!!
Geo V Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 As long as he plays regularly, its a good move but Im not convinced that CL will pick him for every game? Anyway, lets hope he shows enough to end the season in form and able to challenge for a first team place with us as we need some of these kids on loan to actually come good because none of them are really shining apart from maybe Gradel who obviously had his form effected when his mum died after a bright start. I wont bore people with the Scottish footy arguement as it needs a thraed of its own but loads of quality players like Gattuso, Di Canio, Viduka etc have done well elsewhere after leaving that division. Its not as shite as it used to be but its the top sides would be mid-table Prem sides never mind the Championship.
Mark Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Chance to see Eric in action tomorrow night as Dundee Utd are away to Clyde in the Cup, games on Sky.
