barmy76uk Posted 28 December 2007 Author Posted 28 December 2007 DUFC fan here, is this guy any good? could you give me some info about his strengths or weaknesses? Maybe Barry Robson is coming here,he looked the best player on the pitch against Celtic !
Steven Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 DUFC fan here, is this guy any good? could you give me some info about his strengths or weaknesses? Plenty of pace but he might represent a bit of a gamble.
Asha Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Never looked that special in the 30 minutes or so he's played for the first team.
barmy76uk Posted 28 December 2007 Author Posted 28 December 2007 Never looked that special in the 30 minutes or so he's played for the first team. Yeah but in a lower level of fooball like he spl he should look good! You don't have to be a good player to look good in the spl, look at Anthony Stokes,Petrov,John Sutton,Lee Naylor,Clayton Donaldson and many more!

I always believed SPL was a better level than the championship, but thinking about Stokes, Petrov etc and how they excelled in the SPL but haven't done much in the premiership. It'd be good experience for Odhiambo...but maybe on a 3 month loan deal to see how he adapts and then can be made permanent in the summer.

No way is the spl beter and the championship far richer, dundee get crowds like league 2 teams and wage budget would be the same as a league 2 england club! Look at Scott Mcdonald, not even good enough for the mk dons!Spl players joined wycombe for more money.says a lot about the spl! But yes could be good for Eric to get some first team games under there belt! Stokes done nothing in the championship and Naylor didn't. I hear Stephen Hughes is getting good reviews up in scotland, and how bad was he?

I guess when I thought SPL i always though Henrik Larsson, John Hartson, Jan Vennegoor, Neil Lennon etc.

I guess when I thought SPL i always though Henrik Larsson, John Hartson, Jan Vennegoor, Neil Lennon etc. Vennegor is very poor,Larsson was good,Hartson was good in the spl but not much better than average down here,Lennon was the best celtic player! Barry Ferguson couldnt hack it for blackburn,Beattie has been poor wba, booed by his own fans! Normally the spl is for hasbeens that cant hack it in england!

Beattie wasn't exactly special for Celtic anyway, great goal though at Walkers few weeks ago.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Dundee United hope to secure Leicester striker Eric Odhiambo on loan until the end of the season. (Daily Express)
The People's Hero Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 I wonder if we can get away with sending them Elvis.
Simon Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Never looked that special in the 30 minutes or so he's played for the first team. He didn't appear all that special when I saw him play for Southend either, he certainly seemed to have a way to go then. BUT, as we all know, the SPL is a completely different kettle of fish; it may do him the world of good.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 In answer to the Dundee United fan's question, Odhiambo is a very small, slight player with quite a bit of pace and good technique. He scored a lot of goals for our Academy side last year but they created a lot of chances. He still has a lot to prove because he couldn't really get into Southend's team properly while on loan there this season. Would be a good move as long as he gets some first-team action. Otherwise I would prefer to see him on loan to a League Two side where he would be guaranteed a run of first-team games to see how he copes with the physicality of proper football.

His lack of physical presence is a bit of a problem for him because he seems to get brushed off the ball too easily. He does make some good runs though and gets himself into good positions; he needs to be more clinical about taking them though.
Thracian Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Odihambo is set to join Spl side Dundee United in the next few days, read the link!http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2007/12...y10737023t0.asp Not the least bit surprised by this. He's needing some proper football and isn't going to get it here. He may be on loan but I cannot see him ever making a career here. He'll go the way of Dodds.
Thracian Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 I wonder if we can get away with sending them Elvis. Still wouldn't want to send Fryatt then!
The People's Hero Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Still wouldn't want to send Fryatt then! Erm no.
Raj Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 I thought the lad did well when he had his cameo against Villa last year. Good luck to him if he leaves.
ronnup Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Still wouldn't want to send Fryatt then! Why oh why? I bet you hated him being the best man on the pitch on boxing day. He was class, regardless of positional charcteristics, lifted our attacking options repeatedly. I bet you;d sell him too. Ridiculous. Liked Odihambo's attitude against Villa, thrown in at the deep end and didn't look lost against a decent defence. Good luck to him.
Leicester Lass Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Eric On The Move http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1201099,00.html Leicester City have today confirmed that young striker Eric Odhiambo will be joining SPL side Dundee United on loan for the rest of the season from January 1 2008.Odhiambo had a similar spell on loan with Southend United at the start of the campaign, before returning to the Walkers Stadium in October. The 18-year product of the youth Academy, who made his City debut in last season's Carling Cup tie against Aston Villa, has featured on the bench for the first team squad under Ian Holloway. Holloway said: "Eric is an exciting young fella. He's not somebody who I want to lose, but he might benefit from getting some games under his belt."He has scored some goals at a slightly lower level that we are at. I hope this will prepare him for when I need to throw him in here. "He has already been a substitute for me, but that was more to do with the fact that we had injuries rather than him earning it. I am looking forward to the time when he looks ready and feels ready to score some goals for us." The Tangerines are managed by former City boss Craig Levein.

Ridiculous.Liked Odihambo's attitude against Villa, thrown in at the deep end and didn't look lost against a decent defence. Good luck to him. Don't be silly. Although he wasn't best on the pitch I have no wish for Fryatt to fail but have detailed the reasons why he would fall short of being a top quality Championship striker many times over the last two years. I am not the only one who has maintained hope, in defiance of logic, that he will somehow prove me wrong, but that's not been the case and, after so long, I no longer think that it might be. Yes I would sell him if I could. Indeed I would probably have sold him in the summer. I would want the guarantee of far more goals than he could offer. Fryatt will never give that guarantee for the various reasons I've mentioned. He's quite a good player. Just not good enough.
