Babylon Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Why oh why? I bet you hated him being the best man on the pitch on boxing day Shame he only produces it once every 4 months.
Father Ted Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 I think this is a good move for him as long as he can get some first team football.
mickydeeeuk Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 granted i havent seen him play for the ressies or the acadamy but when he came on at the walkers he looked pretty crap to me, im not suprised he hasnt had a game for the first team since... infact his legs were so bandy he looked like he might actual snap!! ...part from that good luck eric!!
Ultra Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Don't be silly. Although he wasn't best on the pitch I have no wish for Fryatt to fail but have detailed the reasons why he would fall short of being a top quality Championship striker many times over the last two years. I am not the only one who has maintained hope, in defiance of logic, that he will somehow prove me wrong, but that's not been the case and, after so long, I no longer think that it might be. Yes I would sell him if I could. Indeed I would probably have sold him in the summer. I would want the guarantee of far more goals than he could offer. Fryatt will never give that guarantee for the various reasons I've mentioned. He's quite a good player. Just not good enough. Holloway clearly thinks differently - and has already got a couple of decent games out of him, which was more than several of his previous managers were able to do. Fryatt will, if fit, be one of the first names on the team sheet for the rest of the season. If he can find the scoresheet on a regular basis during that time, he may develop into the quality striker we hoped he would be when Levein signed him. But if he continues to underachieve, then Holloway should get rid.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 When I saw this: "Dundee Utd to sign Foxes striker" on the BBC website I really thought (hoped) Levein had gone for de Vries
DB11 Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Yeah but in a lower level of fooball like he spl he should look good! You don't have to be a good player to look good in the spl, look at Anthony Stokes,Petrov,John Sutton,Lee Naylor,Clayton Donaldson and many more! Such as Rab Douglas, Alan Maybury, Stephen Hughes and Momo Sylla?
barmy76uk Posted 29 December 2007 Author Posted 29 December 2007 Such as Rab Douglas, Alan Maybury, Stephen Hughes and Momo Sylla? Exactly, you can add Canero to that list and Liam Miller! Craig Gordon also, hes not a £9 million keeper! Mcfadden 8 goals in 4 years!
barmy76uk Posted 29 December 2007 Author Posted 29 December 2007 In answer to the Dundee United fan's question, Odhiambo is a very small, slight player with quite a bit of pace and good technique. He scored a lot of goals for our Academy side last year but they created a lot of chances. He still has a lot to prove because he couldn't really get into Southend's team properly while on loan there this season. Would be a good move as long as he gets some first-team action. Otherwise I would prefer to see him on loan to a League Two side where he would be guaranteed a run of first-team games to see how he copes with the physicality of proper football. Proper football in the spl? He would be there best striker, anyone ever seen spl games?its as bas as the blue square, definately less technical than the blue square, ithe spl makes Clayton Donaldson look like Pele its that bad!
Nick Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 SELL THEM. SELL THEM ALL AND BURN THEM. Happy New Futures, N. Edit: I thought he looked promising in pre-season, especially at QUORN, I am pleased he is going out on loan and not being sold. The youth in this football club needs experience and blooding in to a 1st team mentality. Loan him out, yeah. Sell him? Not yet. I think he'll do well in the North. Especially if they can teach him to play with his head up.

Nick Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 FFs you don't need to be good to look good against Quorn! Fair point. Or is it? All I'm saying is that he has a degree of promise and that I don't think we should sell him yet. Were you at the game? Have you seen him play much through his time in the academy? I'm just interested as it's easy to say that looking good against Quorn means damn all and punctuate it with "FFs" its just that he stood out a mile from everybody else with the exception of Bruno N Gotty who also looked good that day....... against Quorn. Because on that day, the rest of the city side looked like a shower of shit....... against Quorn. FFs. N.
Samilktray Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Looks like he came on today in there 4-1 victory over Hearts as a late minute sub.
reynard Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Probably found his level as eventually I fear will most of our supposedly star young players.
Nationwider Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Started at Ibrox today in front of just under 50,000 odd. Only lasted 52 minutes but it beats warming the Southend bench - or worse, a run out at St Marys.
arab83 Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 No way is the spl beter and the championship far richer, dundee get crowds like league 2 teams and wage budget would be the same as a league 2 england club! Look at Scott Mcdonald, not even good enough for the mk dons!Spl players joined wycombe for more money.says a lot about the spl! But yes could be good for Eric to get some first team games under there belt! Stokes done nothing in the championship and Naylor didn't. I hear Stephen Hughes is getting good reviews up in scotland, and how bad was he? Barmy the fud, DUFC may not get bigger crowds than engliush clubs but thats because England have 55mil people and Scotland has 5 mil. DUFC are still a better club the most mediocre clubs in England, many of whom get bigger supports but non of whom have played over 100 european games, played in a uefa cup final or european cup semi final. tore andre flo excelled in the SPL did he? franny jeffers was one of the worst players ever to grace the SPL, both did better in the premiership. sutton was a very good player down south, one bad season at chelsea aside, he was hardly prolific up here, not like he was larssonesque.

Fox You Forest Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 A few names back at ya, Rab Douglas, Stephen Hughes and Alan Maybury Dont forget the Legend that is Mark De Vries.
newms Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Dont forget the Legend that is Mark De Vries. Na, he was obviously premiership class after that goal against Spurs
BedsFox Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Momo Sylla Joe Hamill Peter Canero All terrible!
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Barry ferguson was never the player he was at rangers for blackburn. petrov hasnt really hit it off at villa Boumsong.......enough said really! considering that these three were dubbed as "world beaters" in the SPL just shows how cack the division is.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 Be nice to hear how he's getting on instead of wheeling out the usual tripe about the quality of the SPL.
