This fan thing is really getting on my tits. It's so boring now. Every time i read the same things. Stand up and support. Rah rah rah.

If people want to sing they will. If they don't then, they won't.

If people want to stand they will. If they don't then, they won't.

No shitty campaign is going to change it all either.

Well that's not really true is it.

There are a lot of people at other grounds around England that can't stand because they get ejected etc.

If you don't agree with the campaign, fine, but there are people that want to stand, that can't.

Maybe some of us should have done the same.

A tour of the Midland Alliance grounds would have been a lot more fun than what we've had to suffer this season..

Could we start at Owen Street as i live just round the corner lol

Doesn't make sense really. They must be standing up in the first place or doing something wrong to get ejected in the first place.

It's not that i don't agree with the campaign as such. I think it's a decent campaign, but a campaign that will not take off, and people should at least start realising this by now.

Might just be me, but i get bored about standing and singing every other post or what no.

You know, that every game i go to, i stand and sing, because that's simply the most that i can do.

If the campaign is successful then that's brilliant, but i really cannot see it being that.

Dont quite understand what you mean mate. You say that they must be standing up or doing something wrong in the first place to get ejected and that completly is what we are trying to get at, why is standing wrong?

Then you go on to say you stand and sing at every game, but some feel they can't.

Why don't you think the campaign will be successful? Hardly the right attitude you've got.

Cavalry has arrived.

Hardly the right attitude? who are you to tell me about a right attitude? I don't believe the campaign will be successful because of what at happened at Hillsborough, the "authorities" are too bothered about financial implications if something does happen, then questions will be raised on "why was standing allowed again after Hillsborough?" and so on, families will sue etc. It's all about money these days.

Why is standing wrong? Personally i don't think it is, but stadiums have rules (Might sound a hypocrite here because i stand in L1, but i go to the game with my mates, everyone else stands so why shouldn't i?) and some are more strict than others. Take Hillsborough for example. The stewards there kept telling everyone to sit down, a few didn't and got ejected.

Most places do let you stand, but that's because of the large number of people that are there standing, and 5 stewards cannot control 100+ fans who could just kick off. If you've been told to abide by a rule and continue to dis-obey, then you're going to get ejected aren't you?

The obvious reason why standing is deemed wrong is because I'm sure no-one would want to see another Hilsborugh disaster. (even though, many people believe the police were at fault for letting in too many fans.) i

Yeah, they're standing up, because they want to. But then they get thrown out, so they can't stand. From reading Standupsitdown, there are a lot of fans who don't stand because they can't afford there ST taken off them, but they would like to stand in safe standing areas.

Which is why they campaign for safe standing areas.

If you don't support/care/bothered about the campaign fine, but I am so I'm still going to post about it.

So strange that standing at a football match in england is considered so bad. I know it all stems back to hillsborough but how on earth could anything like that happen again in an all seater stadium with no fences?

Health and safety gone mad.

The Hillsborough disaster was entirely unrelated to the fact that the end was a terrace. It was caused by a poorly designed expansion of the stadium after which no new safety certificate had been issued which resulted in there being far too few turnstiles. When a large number of people gathered outside them and tried to get in, there was crushing there which resulted in the police opening the main exit gates. This led to a flow of people who got "swept" in. As it had been divided into pens, people got forced by the flow of bodies into the central pens. There was also nobody on duty to stop anyone else entering the central pens when full, and the situation inside could not be seen from outside the pen. The crushing inside the pen was then caused by the rather basic fact they were penned in by fences that the police didn't open for fear of a pitch invasion. You would have had exactly the same situation occur if it was a fenced in seated area.

"The people in charge don't want to change it, so it won't happen" doesn't quite strike me as a reason not to try, even if it is an uphill battle. While I understand the opinion of "well, its against the rules, so of course you'd get chucked out", surely that makes having a campaign to change these stupid rules all the more important.

Fair play Ched, you know i respect you and all that, i was just stating that i think in every post that it gets boring. I would support the campaign if i believed something good would come out of it, but i just can't see that happening.

The beautiful irony is that by complaining about too many posts on standing Bert has, in fact, started another debate on the matter.

If I could sustain myself on irony alone I reckon this would last me a good few days.

Unfortunately I'm still going to have to buy a pizza from Costcutters on my way home.

I am in no position to tell you what attitude to have, I just thought that as you stand and like a sing-song at most games you'd be behind this campaign.

The problem is nothing to do with financial implications, being involved in teh campaign has shown me that the authorities don't really have a limb to stand on as to why we cannot stand at games. They first said it was safety but realised that this was complete bollocks and now admit it is safe to stand on a terrace. They are now saying it is crowd control (Or along those lines) which is basically labelling us all hooligans and saying we can't behave.

The stadium rules are stupid, that's why I don't abide by them, and I realise that this is putting me at the risk of an ejection, but I guess it was how I was brought up. Why should I sit down? Because some twat like Kevin Barclay thinks I should? Erm no he won't tell me what to do.

I don't know wether it's your ill-knowledge of the hillsborough disaster (As has been pointed out already by others so I won't bother going into it) or wether you just don't feel like putting a fight up against the twats that govern us but this campaign will keep fighting.

On the other hand I agree with you in some ways, so many articles & posts etc but not enough pro-activeness and action being taken. Ferguson is just a hypocrite.

Btw, I'm not trying to start an argument with you, but as you said - The Cavalary has arrived ;)

Hey, we're both on here to put or opinion across mate, I'm not falling out with anyone.

The bit in bold, you pretty much hit the nail head, but if you and your "cavalry" can convince me it's a worthwhile campaign I'd happily back it as you've had my support on things that you've started before.

Did you hear about them Boycotting a game last week?

The League moved the K.O to 12:45 for an Internet TV channel, so the club said boycott (Away game). 200 odd turned up which was the usual for that team (Curzon Ashton) but just 20 FC united fans showed instead of the usual 1000!

They all went to the reserves instead!

Have a read on StandUpSitDown

Aye, i heard about it. I can't wait for FCUM to get bigger and jump the leagues. And playing against other non leagers that sing. No competition yet. Theres a video at Kidderminister that you might like, taking the piss out of music after goals. Would like to go to one of their games one day.
