Yes, its also funny that you reckoned that stoke striker was having a medical yesterday , funny that.

Well my source is proven as most know on here. You however, have just started posting on here and within 2 days you have contacts in Sunderland and at QPR?!?!?!?!

Do I smell fish? Yes and it stinks.

My wifes relations in sunderland tells us that kavanagh wont be coming to city, rumour as it that keane wants a million for him. :scarf:

He's available on a free :dunno:

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has admitted his surprise at the lack of offers for midfielder Graham Kavanagh. The 34-year-old former Republic of Ireland international is available on a free transfer yet no club has made a firm move for the player, who is highly rated by Keane. Kavanagh was a Premier League regular before dropping down a division last season to help Sunderland win the Championship. He has not featured for the Black Cats in the top flight this season but proved he still has the talent whilst on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier on in the campaign.

"We've had lots of inquiries about Kav, lots of phone calls but as yet no firm offer," Keane told the Sunderland Echo. "And I have to say that surprises me. We are not asking for a fee for him so there is only his wages to look at. "I have tried to be fair to players who can leave and I think I have been fair with Kav in not looking to stand in his way and in not asking for a fee.

"It surprises me because when we have inquired about quality players approaching the end of their careers we have been quoted one or two million - that just seems to be the standard response. "Whereas in Graham's case, he can go if the offer is acceptable to him yet we've still to receive anything from a club which looks like being acceptable. "Kav has been super professional through recent times and he remains a quality player. He has got a lot to offer the right club and hopefully his situation will be sorted out to his satisfaction in the next few weeks."

And 6m for Kenwyn Jones wich is equally as bad if not worse.

:crylaugh: We could double that now.

As for Fulop, no he isn't worth £3m, but have you actually considered that we don't want to sell him? He was sent out on loan to play games and get experience. If we hadn't of signed Gordon 3 days before the season started, Fulop would have been 1st choice. The idea was to bring him back at the end of the season so he could challenge Gordon for the No.1 spot. It just so happens that neither Gordon or Ward have been outstanding so we've brought Fulop back early. The £3m tag is there, so that if anyone wants to pay over the top, we won't stand in his way, but are equally happy for him to be here.

£12 million worth of goalkeepers in the Championship that's just crazy!!

come on admit it Roy Keane is one of the biggest cock jockeys and knows f**k all about transfer fees or players you must be gutted that he was wasted £40million to get a championship quality squad.

I understand some sort of option at 700k was in the loan deal but when Keane recalled him this was then no longer vaild so you didn't want him that much

Love your avatar work, Jay.

The Dan moment is undoubtedly one of the funniest in the second series........

For some reason Lynn's head in the background also makes me smirk......

Anyway Roy didn't want to sell Fulop in the first place so blokey here has a point. Though I reckon he's gonna need some funds to pay for some of his transfer targets and Fulop is not going to be happy on the bench as he needs first team football. I reckon he'll go late on in the window for 2 million.

N

Oh yeah, I'm also an old school Morris fan (Narrowly missing a woman stuck up a pole in a nearby field) : I have both brass eye and the day today on VHS ! Quality.

If we were relegated then I couldn't see us keeping Gordon for a start. Him and Jones would be the 2 that could get a move no problem.

We have payed over the top on a number of players no doubt, unfortunately other clubs know we have loads to spend and therefore wont let people go until we up the offers to an excess. We are also hampered by the fact that we have been a non-entity the last couple of times we have been in the Prem and therefore can't attract better atm.

Still, £40m is a bit off, £30m is closer, but the inflated prices on reflect the inflated TV deal that came in this season.

It is early days in the transfer window and Keane is playing his cards close to his chest. I would imagine he wants to get players in but needs to raise some capital. The chairman will be think of reducing the wage bill as there is a chance that they could be relegated at the end of the season and will need to balance the books. So at the moment Keane has the upper hand, towards the end of the month I am sure the chairman will be calling the shots and players will be leaving on frees or lower fees.

This is typical of all clubs every year in this position

true but so have man city who managed to sign players like Martin Petrov for less money than you paid for Michael Chopra!!

and Elano came for only a little bit more than you paid for Kenwyne Jones!!

money has been totally wasted but I have to admire you all for sticking by a manager out of his depth

They might need to keep experienced players like Kavanagh to help the team, if the rumours are true.

Has anyone else heard the alleged rumours that Sunderland have sacked Stokes, Halford and Harte? Obviously, it is all alleged and if moderators think my post should be deleted, fair do's, but I have heard a rumour they were caught in possession of illegal substances and so have been sacked. It's certainly quite coincidental that neither of those three are playing today.

Obviously, I have no source for this as it is all hear say. Have you heard anything Lost Mackem?

If I am correct they haven't played for a while

That's true, although I'm not sure when they were alledged to have been caught. To think, Roy Keane spent over £5 million on Halford and Stokes. Expensive for Championship level players.

As I say, it's just a bit of hear say and I'm wondering if anybody else has heard anything similar? I guess that question is aimed at the Sunderland poster as I hate posting unsubstantiated rumour.

sounds like to me that we are considering him as one of the options. We know he is available, we know we can get him for free, maybe they are waiting on a few other choices....

Without that manager, we would be in League One, I think he's earned time

Its all good and well saying players like Elano, Petrov only cost such and such, but neither of those would have joined us. People seem to bring up Santa Cruz as well but those have went to clubs who are established/playing in Europe. The players we brought in were far from 1st choice targets, we are a club with a battered reputation, so things are hardly gonna change straight away. I mean, we bid for Forlan in the summer :crylaugh:

On the other post re: Halford, Stokes, Harte. Halford and Stokes stories have been well known up here for a month or so, I don't think Harte is involved, he's just not good enough.

Anyway, back on topic, Kav was awful at the weekend, but always stood out when he played for us in the CCC. Well worth a chance for nowt if you can get hi playing well.
