grobyfox1990 Posted 30 July 2019 Posted 30 July 2019 Donate every 3 months, everybody able to should. It takes a few hours a year, nurses are highly professional and motivated, you can stuff yourself with free snacks afterwards and you get a text saying where your blood has been used. Example of one of the texts i've received: YOUR BLOOD HAS BEEN USED IN THE NEONATAL WARD AT CHELSEA AND WESTMINSTER HOSPITAL So I've likely saved someone's baby by giving up an hour of my time. And i hate and dread needles, but this is 1000 times less painful than an injection, you don't feel a thing. No reason not to donate, just think, if something happens to you one day you will be relying on the generosity of blood donors to save your life.

I haven't been for a couple of years but used to go regularly and never once received a text like that. Not that it matters.
walkerleeds Posted 30 July 2019 Posted 30 July 2019 As mentioned, worth it just for the free snacks at the end (and saving the odd kids life I suppose)

Suzie the Fox Posted 31 July 2019 Posted 31 July 2019 I started last year to donate and go every few months now, not sure if its just me but i get texts to remind me of every appointment and texts to say i havent booked yet etc. No chance of ever missing an appointment. Last donation was issued to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital
Free Falling Foxes Posted 31 July 2019 Posted 31 July 2019 Not painful? Ripping that plaster off my hairy arms at the end of the day hurts! Seriously, that is the most uncomfortable part. Give it a go and donate an armful!
