Super Arj Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 People were doubting Ben Alnwicks ability after the Coventry game because of that mix up with Stearman... but after todays performance vs Norwich i can safley say that i am delighted we got him.... according to the match report, he was oustanding... Norwich should easily have scored 3 maybe 4 goals if Alnwick wasn't so good i think he is just as good as Fulop... with room to improve because he is still very young for a keeper.... Hopefully this one will be permanent

David Guiza Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 noriwch fans seem to think he should have been sent off i dint see anything after that russel guy slid in so i cant comment but other then that i thought he playe well and thats 2 clean sheets in 2 games cant be bad

Haha!
Jon25747 Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Agreed he looks like a quality keeper to me! Kept us in it today and anyone who smacks that pillock Russell is good enough for me!
potter3 Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 He jumped onto Russell and clearly smacked him! Haha! Yeah I can't believe he wasn't sent off
Bert Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Next time Alnwick takes a goal kick, watch his left leg. Bizarre.
Jon25747 Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 Next time Alnwick takes a goal kick, watch his left leg. Bizarre. Yea i spotted that in the Cov game, weird! (can still kick twice as far as me so shut my mouth)
lildave3 Posted 19 January 2008 Posted 19 January 2008 I personally felt he didn't look too good. The saves he had to make seemed routine saves to me, and he'd have been slated had they gone in.

Made a good 'un when Fez disappeared I thought. He can catch a fucking ball, and when he did punch it it went out for a throw in. I'll take that over Sir Flap-a-lot anyday.
Stuliasz Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 At the end of the day Fulop was of a standard that is better than this division and we were very lucky to have him for the period that we did. Had we not had Fulop before Alnwick's arrival, I'm sure everyone would be raving about him now compared to the likes of Hendo.

Irrelevant really, because we did have Fulop, and he set a very high bench-mark.
Stuliasz Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Irrelevant really, because we did have Fulop, and he set a very high bench-mark. I think Fulop went comfortably over the bench-mark which is expected of a decent Championship keeper - goalkeepers of his standard don't come to Championship clubs all too often, so why should we expect someone of his calibre again? If you have any ideas for goalkeepers who are as good as Fulop that would come to us, I'm all ears.
MikeyT Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 He kept us in it, but he was nowhere near as commanding as Fulop, needs to keep calm in heated situations... and also needs to know when to hit the ball first time, instead of taking a touch. I agree with that. I didnt see the Norwich game but i was at the Cov game and i think your spot on with your analysis of him. Obviously i am only basing my opinion of seeing him in 1 game though, so it may change again!
sdb Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 do people who saw the game think he may be banned for this punch that keeps getting mentioned? sounds like the sort of thing the fa will look at
