Candidcamera Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Have to think Clapham was not Ollie's first choice but I for one welcome him. Mattock will have to watch out but I don't see him getting his place.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Asked Worley on cfcnet this afternoon when I relised it was him response as follows. Yeah, Worley is a good solid centre back who's shown a lot of promise. Some rate him pretty highly and hope he develops into a player capable of making our squad, but I think the general feeling is that he is in danger of hitting a brick wall if he isn't given a chance to shine somewhere in the near future. hmmm prehaps I was a bit quick with my Doncaster assumption.
Thracian Posted 5 February 2008 Author Posted 5 February 2008 Make sence to loan King out. Three of us were discussing this question at the reserves match. whether a player is better going out on loan to a League club for good level experience or whether he's better in the reserves with the sort of side we played today learning to fit into the style which we play and with people he'll be playing alongside if he gets a first team shirt. Our loanees are currently at Leeds, Bournemouth, Stockport, Lincoln and Tamworth. Do the last four represent anything much stronger than the reserves game today? I'd doubt it. But it isn't the players from those clubs the emerging young prospect will have to cog in with, it's the players from our club and we seem so disjiointed as a unit I'd have thought we could do with some continuity of style and personnel. Not that we drew lasting conclusions from the argument. seems to me there were points for and against just as there are points strongly for and against the loan system in general. I'd be interested in people's views though. To me the loan system is a get out as much as a work out for the players concerned. Of the players in exile just now I'd say only Gradel is likely to return with any hope of remaining. But we'll see.
Flynny Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Kish alright for midfield backup then? If he were just a little less clumsy than at the beginning of the season I'd play him.
Webbo Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 <Loans, for and against> I don't think that there is any substitute for competitive football. No one wants to get injured playing in the reserves, win or lose nobody gets sacked for a bad performance in the reserves. In competitive football mistakes can be fatal and the pressure is on, far better way to learn your trade I would have thought. Did you hear what Ollie said about Gradel Thrac? Sounds like he's got a future here after all.
Staf Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 So do you think we should sign Worley or not i know he has only played one game but what was your first impression ?
Thracian Posted 5 February 2008 Author Posted 5 February 2008 So do you think we should sign Worley or not i know he has only played one game but what was your first impression ? Already answered. I've give him an extended trial. Say a month to begin with. I don't think that there is any substitute for competitive football. He looked okay today. I was a bit surprised when he went to Leeds so soon. His problem is that he's a bit of a chugger. But he was still chugging gamely enough at the end today and I was surprised how much attacking he got involved with.
Calum McDermott Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 What happened to Sappleton ? Was scoring the in the reserves and then even made his debut for the first team but now it seems the lad has been pushed back and dropped into the youth team. Anyone honestly rate the guy ? (A real anwser would be nice i.e not the Sappleton fan club) injured
Thracian Posted 5 February 2008 Author Posted 5 February 2008 They've given him a 3 year contract. I know.

RowlattsFox Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 There was no andy King, either in the side or on the bench so I wonder if he's the next facing a stint on loan. Andy King was in Malta with the Wales Under 21s, was an unused sub, which is suprising considering the age of some of the Wales starting 11.
MC Prussian Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 King Baz wouldnt have missed. King Ricky can score 10 goals with one shot.
Geo V Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 I thought that strong side would have won this game but you cant win them all. Thanks for the report Thrac.
