Ha Ha.... a classic Daggers response!!

I quite like that!!

Not to flash and plenty of power up front....

I bet that would move quicker than geoff horsfield in a thai brothel!!!

Corsa, Fiesta, Punto, 106, Polo, cars like that. 1.3l engine at most. Something small, ie. a supermini rather than something like an Escort.

Get a Chavved up Corsa... Mmmmmmmmm...

fooking hate that bodykit. It's a proper bogstandard, everyone-is-the-same bodykit. Nothing custom about it.

My mate's got a Punto that he's done up properly that looks pretty nice, he drives like a cock though. Can't stand boyracers.

I would go for a 306. Good insurance group (4).

You sure you don't mean 206?

That one? Pretty sure the 306 is a saloon or a large hatchback? Anyway. 206s are really, really nice to look at, perhaps the best "small" (though they're a bit bigger than the cars I listed above) car around to look at, but they're not the most reliable and they're a little more expensive than other cars.

If you really want to upset someone with a motor like that, look really worried and say to them 'your mum's going to go mad when she see's what you've done to her car'

I can only say from experience, stay away from Fiat Panda's! lol

If you buy a 306 make sure you get a diesel one. I had a petrol one and it was probably the worst car ever made in terms of reliability, and the numerous AA men called out to it all agreed that if you want a Peugeot then you should buy a diesel - the best diesel engines, the shitest petrol ones.

For cheap running costs and low insurance you cannot do a lot better than a Fiesta or Corsa, and for the last few years they've been pretty reliable as well, although if reliability is most important to you then Honda and Toyota are hard to beat

Bigger engine though, it does make a difference. I think they're hard to find in anything smaller than a 1.4l engine which does put a couple of hundred quid on at least, and for a first car, for I assume a male though I may be wrong, these things are important because the insurance is a ****er already.

I don't think there's one smaller than a 1.4

The insurance on 'Foreign' cars is often a bit more expensive as the parts are pricier when compared with your Fords and Vauxhalls (so fixing them if you crash them costs them more) and some insurers take this into account

How much have we got to spend? Not that WE are going to spend it

No neither did I, but I looked it up and the very old model did indeed come in a 1.1 and a 1.2 variety.

Bloody hell, mine wasn't exactly a rocket with a 1.6! Mind you, I can quite believe it - when the Sierra came out there was a 1.3. They must have sold about 10 of them

A 1.3 Sierra! haha

In my opinion you want to buy a piece of crap car that you can run into the ground for 6 months or so. Its a well known fact that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first 6 months of driving than any other time. So my advice would be to get something old and cheap to run which wont cost you much. Drive that around for about 6 months and then save up for something decent to replace it when your ready and have more experience.
