Flynny Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I honestly thought so. Was it just me? I had to pinch myself. Chambers' positioning was woeful and he did the exact same thing Stearman USED to do (but does a lot less these days) and let the man running at him advance a good 20 yards before he tried to put the tackle in. Didn't see a lot of his pace, either. Stearman's better going forward, too, and crosses better.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Stearman was far worse than that when he first got in the team this season. This is why there is no stability at this club, because of attitudes like this. Stearman has had a decent run in the team and has found some form. Chambers has proven in the past he can be a part of promotion-winning sides and would do the same if given the chance.
Simi Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I still think Chambers is better going forward, he runs at defenders and puts them under pressure. Whereas Stearman just tends to go backwards or put a cross in which isn't consistent enough. Given a run in the team, I do still feel Chambers will be the better player for us. However he was one of a number of players at fault for the first goal, but don't forget that's one of, if not the first time he's played right back for us.

So have Oakley, Clemence and Howard but they aren't showing it either, having done it is no guarantee, in this team at least that they can repeat it. I'll stick with Stearman thanks.
Webbo Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I didn't think Chambers was awful, but I think Stearman would have done better. I'll be surprised if Stearman isn't playing Tuesday.
Narborough Bod Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I didn't think Chambers was awful, but I think Stearman would have done better. I'll be surprised if Stearman isn't playing Tuesday. The right back position is the least of our worries.

But Stearman is playing well now, and Chamber's hasn't taken his chance. Hell, if we're going on past glories, Kish in!

Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I was thinking the same whilst watching the game - Chambers blew his chance to impress there. Might be interesting to persevere tho and try Stearman in for MacAuley?
Flynny Posted 10 February 2008 Author Posted 10 February 2008 Kish at right-back Exactly. Why didn't I think of that? I was thinking the same whilst watching the game - Chambers blew his chance to impress there. Might be interesting to persevere tho and try Stearman in for MacAuley? Possibly. Alternatively I'd stick N'Gotty in for him. He might be just as slow but his experience shows and he can spot a good pass.
Durnerz Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Stearman lacks the steel at the back, Chambers has the jump on him, strength and acceleration to get back should be he caught out, and to get forward. Yesterday Chambers had Shush! syndrome of not getting close enough to his man on the cross which annoyed me. However I still think he can be a valuable asset.
mat_j101 Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I have to admit Chambers wasnt very good. Until about 2/3 weeks ago, i was pushing to start him instead of Stearman, but he has played much better the last couple of games, and Chambers was poor yesterday, and its true, had Stearman played like that, people, probably myself included, would have slated him. So its humble pie for me. I dont think he would have dropped Stearman if he hadnt been suspended though. BRING BACK RIC!
