The Stig Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Does it matter?None of them are good enough. Yes. It does matter. I'd prefer to play with shit players than no players.
Blue Bob Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Bit of a tough one on Dowie, I believe he was promised that there would be new owners who would clear the debt and give him loads of money to spend and it never happened. I hope Milan does not think of trying to get him.
Maybes Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Hahahaha comical. Surprised at this to be honest. Never really considered him to be doing a bad job there.
Asha Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 They are 19th. Nothing special, they obviously just cracked. Hope we can now ease the away game.
MC Prussian Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Although we are rivals we are very similar in certain ways!! That just occurred to me when I was watching the coverage on SkySports a few minutes ago. Same behaviour by the chairman, same comments from the fans, same old, same old. Inconsisent, blahblah, no passion, blahblah, wishful thinking, blahblah. Wouldn't surprise me if we both went down simultaneously. Blahblah.
lookwhaticando Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 lol Quit Palace, joined Charlton. Sued for quitting Palace, soon sacked by Charlton. Joins Coventry, loses court case with Palace. Sacked by Coventry. What a shit couple of years he's just had.
Ultra Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 It's a reflection of the dire football in this league, plus the arrival of some trigger-happy chairmen, which has led to so many sackings in this league. It won't end with Dowie. Both Bryan Robson and Mick McCarthy could be picking up P45s before the month's out..

joely22 Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Yes. It does matter. I'd prefer to play with shit players than no players. Obviously not been down Pride Park this season then have you!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Bryan Robson is certainly on borrowed time. He has started criticising the fans up there, a lot of whom even wish Warnock was still manager. He's a goner.
The People's Hero Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Bryan Robson is certainly on borrowed time. He has started criticising the fans up there, a lot of whom even wish Warnock was still manager. He's a goner. Yep. Bet it'll be a nice fat settlement when he goes though.

Joe. Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Coventry are interested in bringing in Nigel Pearson as their new manager. (various)
lookwhaticando Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 The old Director person at Cov was saying that the average time a manager lasts in the Championship is 13 months. It's falling fast then. Last time it was mentioned, I swear it was 15 months.
Thracian Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Martin Allen could get the job? Now that would be funny!
Darkzzz_ Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Dowie is yesterdays news!! But if we did not have Ollie i am convinced he would have been our manager!
DB11 Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Unsure if it's been mentioned but he's the 30th manager to be given the boot this season!
Guest Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Unsure if it's been mentioned but he's the 30th manager to be given the boot this season! Bloody hell, 30??????
DB11 Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Bloody hell, 30?????? Yep. I read it in the paper this morning. It gave the dates of all the managers. MA was the second
lookwhaticando Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Is that just football league clubs, or conference and lower? 30 league managers (from 92) would be scary turnover!
DB11 Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Is that just football league clubs, or conference and lower? 30 league managers (from 92) would be scary turnover! There is probably an easier way but I am going to type it all out. I'm starting this at 18:01 lets see how long it takes :D 30 Bosses Bite The Dust August 13: N McDonald (Carlisle) August 29th: M Allen (Leicester) September 9th: R Jepson (Gillingham) September 20th: J Mourinho (Chelsea) September 26th: M Foyle (Port Vale) October 1st: J Gregory (QPR) October 2nd: J Ward (Cheltenham) October 8th: P Taylor (Crystal Palace), W Donachie (Millwall) October 9th: P Grant (Norwich) October 15th: J Schofield (Lincoln) October 16th: S Thompson (Notts County) October 17th: S Lee (Bolton) October 25th: G Megson (Leicester), M Jol (Tottenham) November 5th: C Hutchings (Wigan) November 8th: S Cotterill (Burnley) November 13th: P Simpson (Preston) November 19th: S Bruce (Birmingham) November 21st: I Holloway (Plymouth) November 26th: B Davies (Derby) November 27th: P Sturrock (Swindon) December 11th: T Butcher (Brentford) December 21st: L Sanchez (Fulham) January 9th: S Allardyce (Newcastle) January 14th: C Casper (Bury) January 15th: K Blackwell (Luton) January 24th: G Burley (Southampton) January 28th: D Wise (Leeds) February 11th: I Dowie (Coventry) Finished at 18:06. 5 minutes to type that lot
lookwhaticando Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 Not all of them are sackings, really, so the real number is slightly lower. Bolton wanted Megson, Megson wanted Bolton, so we let him go and took some compo. Blackwell quit Luton when they went bust. Didn't Cotterill walk, too? How about Mourinho and Grant? I thought Mourinho had 'resigned' - similar to Grant. Grant was effectively sacked, if I recall, but formally didn't he resign? Still... 30 managerial departures in 7 months across the 92 football league clubs... that's special.
Bryn Posted 12 February 2008 Posted 12 February 2008 It's falling fast then. Last time it was mentioned, I swear it was 15 months. I'm pretty sure we've got a lot to do with that.
