Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 This is garbage. This is appalling. My god, this is rubbish. F**k me, they're useless. Wow. That was really, really bad. I'm disappointed. I'm frustrated. What am I doing with my life? Why have we bothered coming here? We're really going to trouble this depressingly mediocre opposition with all our pace and creativity. I'm bored. I really wish I wasn't here. Ah, "small town in Luton", what an insightful observation. Wow, those chants about Al Bangura are really clever. What's the point? NB - Some of the above were not actually said. Watford, fair play to them, had to do whatever it took to win the game after the red card - so they relied on the most blatant and continued timewasting I have ever seen in my entire life. It's difficult to feel any sort of respect for the opposition when they do that, although we win so rarely these days that I've forgotten how I feel if and when we do it ourselves. I suppose there were positives but when you look so screamingly unlikely to score a goal - or test the keeper - or have a shot - or worry the opposition defence, especially when they play with ten men for nearly an hour, you wonder what hope there is for the rest of the season. I feel a bit like a beleaguered wife who keeps going back to her husband despite the numerous beatings he gives her. Sooner or later she's going to walk out that door and not come back.
Scow Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I couldn't think of any positives to be honest. No shots on target and one corner against a side down to 10 men for 50 minutes says it all. Some argue we passed the ball well (not hard given Watford sat back and allowed us to do it) - fine, but we did fook all in the final third. Players were devoid of any ideas.

If we, as supporters, know this I presume the coaching staff at City must also know it. This begs the question, "What are they doing about it?" Either it is ineffective coaching/tactics or ineffective players or a combination of the two. I went to watch Blackpool last night vs Wolves. It was interesting to see how they defended in depth with 8 players dropping back but also attacked in strength pushing 6 men forward in and around the penalty area. This is in marked contrast to City where we are lucky to see more than 2 in the area for the ball coming across and nobody to pick up the cleared ball. With due respect to Blackpool their players are hardly household names in the football world and have come on frees etc from the lower leagues yet they perform as a unit. City need to do some pretty hard thinking if they are to make use of the undoubted potential they have at their disposal. Hoof it and hope is clearly not the way forward.

What is worrying is that I'm not even entirely sure Holloway is aware of the problems as from what I read on here he thought our performance was largely ok... Now THAT is worrying.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 February 2008 Author Posted 13 February 2008 Good post. What is worrying is that I'm not even entirely sure Holloway is aware of the problems as from what I read on here he thought our performance was largely ok...Now THAT is worrying. It is. It concerns me that we have only briefly looked like functioning as a normal football team should - the idea as the guy said above of attacking and defending as a unit. We certainly seem to defend as a unit but when it comes to attacking, we never have players breaking from midfield to support the attack. And when these things do happen, they don't seem to have the ability to pass the ball under pressure without surrendering possession.
Raj Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I didnt realise you were that demoralised Fezzler. Thats why you didnt text me back. Or is it just cos im a twat.

Raj Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I was too depressed. I'm going to get completely Cappuccino'd before the Norwich game. Tis bad vibes at the moment. Im going to log off FT, work hard today and not think about City til Saturday!!! Up the Shitty!
Finnegan Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I'm fooking ecstatic for Warren Gatland, I can't tell you. The Six Nations has seriously stopped me committing sporting suicide. Leicester are so disgustingly depressing at the moment.
lildave3 Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I must have been watching a completely different game
harpendenfox Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 although according to the Ollie reportage, we bossed the game when it was 11 on 11, Clem was certain to score when the guy tugged him back, and the sending off hurt us more than them. at straws clutching

I could see this going on for quite some time, losing 1-0 after defending fairly well for most of the game but still conceding one goal while never looking like scoring ourselves.

Now he did look a tricky character. Was glad (from a fans view) he went off, but was also disappointed (from an entertainments view) to see him go.
