DB11 Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 In the Northern League 2nd Division http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7242810.stm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you really think the Ref's would enforce it if the player swore out of frustration? No, they wouldn't. That would make the player thing "He had to hear that yet he isn't enforcing the laws, this Ref is a walk over!" Then that player would get on at him, which would soon follow suit and the Referee would lose match control for applying common sense. Stupid idea, stupid law, never gonna work!

Simi Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 So this is the lower leagues acting as a guinea pig for the big boys?
Sparky Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Using foul and abusive language towards a referee has been a red card offence for years , referees wil NOT send players off for swearing in frustration (eg after missing a shot)
Darkzzz_ Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 i think it's a load of bollocks to be honest!!!
Moreton Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 they will see if it works there first then if i goes well it will hit the Prem and Footbal League. If this happens then there wil be a red card a game.
Nick Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 No talking No spitting No jewellery No amateur dramatics No handbags No petting No rubbing the ball in dog dirt and getting your mate to head it. There. Someone had to say it.
acooling08 Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 if you get a red for swearing at all then every player will be sent off!
davieG Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 They should be devising solutions to keep players on the pitch, I don't pay to watch the referee send players off so that we end up with a disjointed game.

DB11 Posted 14 February 2008 Author Posted 14 February 2008 Btw I know the Ref in the picture on that article of the link in the original post. Random but meh
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 if you get a red for swearing at all then every player will be sent off! They could cunningly avoid falling foul of the new rules by not swearing. It's just a thought
Phube Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 I think swearing is fine. I.e. "Oh f**k I missed the goal!" But swearing AT some one/the ref should be a red!: "Ref you're a f*****g numpty!"
purpleronnie Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Does that include swearing in different languages?
