Daggers Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 We've just swopped decent away form for decent home form as far as I can see. Someone give him another nudge, the old thing seems to have got stuck again
Manwell Pablo Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 We've just swopped decent away form for decent home form as far as I can see.And we're so bad away, so lacking in any ambition, that I've no longer any interest in travelling away. It all started at Burnley and just reading the results since is a nightmare. 1-3 0-2 1-1, 1-3 0-2 (Cup) 0-0 1-2 0-1 Goals for 4, goals against 14. Points for 2 Points lost 17. By any yardstick that's awful and the performances I've watched have been awful too. Consistent home form is the basis for any decent side, especially in this division, look at Ipswitch, absloutley dire away from home, unbeatable at Portman road, in the play offs. If Holloway can keep getting consistent results at the Walkers he will be the first manager since Adams to do so, and once we have that, the club as a whole has a base to work from. Picking up the odd win here and there away from home is no good to anyone.
The Stig Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 When your building a team at first things will never go 100% well. He's built a good team, and once he gets some consistancy out of them we be alreet pets.
Bryn Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Holloway: --------- +) He's shed some surplus. +) He's brought-in wingers. +) He bought in Oakley/Howard/Alnwick +) Presided over our two best performances in the League this season - Coventry and Norwich (home) - with the sort of football that offers some hope for our future. -) His results record -) His public attack on players. -) His obsession with experience. -) His questionable tactics at times. -) General lack of goals so far too many matches. -) Awful away form -) Took us as far down as we've been this season. Total 4.5/10. Outlook: Promising enough but I still have doubts. Anyway - it's a lovely day and I'm off to the golf course. I'd add our improved home form and the fact that he has vowed to stamp out hoofball as positives and the one in bold is clearly horseshit. I'd bump him up to somewhere between 5 and 6 and then I agree.

Actually it was 11 points from 8 games before Holloway arrived, compared with three points from the eight since, despite Daggers not really wanting to mention it. Never mind, from what you say, I should catch all the fun by watching the home games. Mind you we have lost two and drawn one of our last seven home games so the point about Ipswich seems a bit premature.
Koke Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Mind you we have lost two and drawn one of our last six home games so the point about Ipswich seems a bit premature. Or we've won 3 out of our last 5 home games. You can twist anything to make it look good or bad.

Which has improved under Holloway but hopefully will improve some more.

It could hardly get much worse. And four wins, nine defeats and four draws or 16 points from 48 in 17 matches doesn't convince me of anything I'm afraid.
STUHILL Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 I was very happy with his appointment, someone who brings experience, passion and real ambition. He always seems to talk sense and say the things we know and want to hear. He definately backed that up with signing players for our areas of weakness and moved on those who failed or were unlikely to succeed. So overall, an impressive start off the pitch, if a little controversial. As far as results go, well very average, and bar the Cov and Norwich games, there were few signs of improvements. However, in saying that, when he gets it right, like on Saturday, we look a very good and well organised team. So positive signs are there, talk of another change is crazy. Hopefully an interesting Summer with lots more smart spending. MM will have to spend big to get us to the Prem!
