Guest shearfox Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Good news we are getting some sort of form at home and to be honest we were a little unlucky to have not grabbed a point at least against Plymouth, so he has most definitely got our home form on track with three wins this year already which is all we had for the whole of last year. Away form is still terrible but I'm sure Ollie will get them playing more consistently at home and away, his buys have proved quite good despite the recent form they should offer much needed experience and they do have some quality about them unlike most buys in the past few years. I did question his tactics at times but he got it right against Norwich even with Hume playing on the right and it proved a good decision as he pretty much had his best game for us in quite some time.
FilboFox Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I personally think he was trying out different things early on to see what players worked well in certain positions... he knows that we should be safe and that we aren't likely to reach the play-offs so he's just testing it all out before next season when we will make the real push upwards. I really like him as our manager as he has a real charisma that we need around the place to lift us... and I think he's not doing that bad a job.
DB11 Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Well we have been playing like that for the past few games now. Some games we've had luck where the ball has gone in the net and others the opposition keeper has been unbeatable.
Zingari Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 from the people today :o WTF 17 February 2008 GLENN ROEDER TO LEICESTER By Les Walsh Glenn Roeder is being lined up to replace Ian Holloway as boss of Leicester City - despite yesterday's 4-0 win for the Foxes over the Canaries. Holloway was thrilled to see his side return to form after a disappointing run since moving from Plymouth in mid-November. Before yesterday's visit of Norwich, he had won just four of his 18 matches and owner Milan Mandaric is not a happy man. Roeder has done well at Norwich since taking over at the end of October. They were rock-bottom of the Championship but Roeder has steered them to within touching distance of the play-offs. Mandaric wanted Roeder as director of football, but the ex-Newcastle boss preferred management and chose Norwich. Another factor in Roeder's favour is former West Ham chief executive Paul Aldridge is now at Leicester and the two men worked well together at Upton Park.

DBEightyFive Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 4 steps behind every other newspaper, they have to print something to bring them back into line with the rest...even if it is a few days late!!
Matt Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 From News Of The World. It's boring, it's [probably] bullshit, but i'll post it anyway; IAIN DOWIE is waiting in the wings to replace Ian Holloway at Leicester. Club insiders have revealed that chairman Milan Mandaric has already had already held a secret meeting with the former Coventry boss.He will move if results do not take a turn for the better. Also in NOTW (Although this is old news, This was in one of Ollie's column a few weeks ago) Ian Holloway needs a lift, but all he got for mucking about with a fork lift at Leicester sponsors Topps Tiles was a ticking off! The Fork Lift Truck Association said "Fork lifts are not toys."

Just becasue we are, once again, in a relegation battle, there's no need for the newspapers to start transmitting crap last this, especially if it involves Iain Dowie.

I'd keep Holloway over all of those names being spouted. What a load of shit.
Head Honcho Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Ollie hasn't had it all his own way obviously but we have to keep him. I'll give him a 6/10 so far
Mickey O'Neil Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I don't give a fcuk about all that bollocks being printed/reported in the papers. I think Milan is happy enough with Ollie and even Milan must realise sacking another manager will not achieve anything. Saying that, I do believe Milan will be demanding promotion one way or another next year.

TrickyTrev Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 We've been eratic at best since Ollie has come in and some of it has been his fault. He moved away from the balanced side that beat Coventry and towards the 4 up front muppetry that was our tactical display against Plymouth. We are still dog shite away from home, never score enough goals away. Some of the signings still look questionable, Howard looks pricey at his age, having said that hes effective, and Barry Hayles was an absaloutely ridiculous purchase. Like someone said, 6/10 so far. Lets not get carried away after one convincing win. Holloway has underachieved so far, not to the point where we should even consider sacking him, but I think it is fair to say he has a lot to learn at this level.
Thracian Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Holloway: --------- +) He's shed some surplus. +) He's brought-in wingers. +) He bought in Oakley/Howard/Alnwick +) Presided over our two best performances in the League this season - Coventry and Norwich (home) - with the sort of football that offers some hope for our future. -) His results record -) His public attack on players. -) His obsession with experience. -) His questionable tactics at times. -) General lack of goals so far too many matches. -) Awful away form -) Took us as far down as we've been this season. Total 4.5/10. Outlook: Promising enough but I still have doubts. Anyway - it's a lovely day and I'm off to the golf course.

Manwell Pablo Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 The improving home form for me is one of the most encouraging signs we've had at this club in years, and while I might not agree with the fees we've payed for some of our players, I do feel that we've one or two clever buys and a good pre season behind him Ian Holloway can start to steer this club away from the bottom half.
Finnegan Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Does he have an obsession with experience? Richard Stearman, Joe Mattock, Zsolt Lackzo, Gabor Bori, Iain Hume, DJ Campbell, Paddy Kisnorbo, hardly old men are they? You need some experience in the side, you need a few old heads to hold things together and I don't think anyone will argue that Oakley and Howard have positive influences on the side, and you yourself count their signings as pluses. He might have an obsession with Barry Hayles, yes, but I think that's slowly coming to an end. In his post match conference after Norwich he finally said that Hayles will come in when Howard isn't fit. He's clearly a fan of Dudley and Hume and would apparently much rather see them in there when his wingers are the "finished product" (he warned from the start that they both weren't 'ready'.)

Just what I was going to say. I also doubt this topic would have been posted if we hadn't of won convincingly on saturday.
Babylon Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 -) His obsession with experience. Coming from someone with a youth obsession that's quite amazing. Starting 11 average age 25.8.... 24.8 if you have Zsolt instead of clapham.

We've just swopped decent away form for decent home form as far as I can see. And we're so bad away, so lacking in any ambition, that I've no longer any interest in travelling away. It all started at Burnley and just reading the results since is a nightmare. 1-3 0-2 1-1, 1-3 0-2 (Cup) 0-0 1-2 0-1 Goals for 4, goals against 14. Points for 2 Points lost 17. By any yardstick that's awful and the performances I've watched have been awful too.
