I work on a trading floor, safely away from any kind of accounting! I did the qualification because it was paid for by my old department so made sense to just get it done. ACA is rock solid. Good luck.
The People's Hero Posted 20 February 2008 Posted 20 February 2008 Seriously, there are a disproportionate number of accountants on here.

Doesn't help either that most of the newly qualified staff have regional awards in the qualification
The People's Hero Posted 20 February 2008 Posted 20 February 2008 No wonder you're so good at selling.I'm in marketing for the moment. At a life insurance. I'm rubbish at selling. Doing a marketing module at the moment for my insurance qualification. It seems to me that its a modicum of common sense buried under a mass of complete guff and men with clipboards.

Clipboards rule. As do printers, paper baskets, parcels, ring binders, Outlook and coffee breaks. And let's not forget weekly meetings in blank spaces.

It seems to me that its a modicum of common sense buried under a mass of complete guff and men with clipboards. Put simply, when you're not busy analysing the Four Ps, or conducting your SWAT analysis in an attempt to find a USP for an already penetrated market you should be out channelling your focus groups, conducting your galvanometer testing and pupilometrics to ascertain whether narrowcasting really is the most suitable method of promotion, whilst taking into account the Eighty-Twenty rule. Combine this with your qualitative and quantitative research findings, lifestyle segmentation and motivational research and you should be well on your way to achieving maximum exposure assuming, of course, these are in line with the patronage motives. Hmm, and people wonder why I got out when I did. In reality it's all boozy lunches, backhanders, blackmail, rounds of golf, tickets to 'exclusive' events and cases of bubbly as small 'incentivizers'.
