Chromophobia Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 anyone like post rock? I love Mogwai right now. ten rapid and ep+6 in particular right now. Christmas Song is just perfection. Explosions in the sky too, love them, am going to the ATP festival in may too. Anyone like post rock? Let's have a love in!
Mark Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Me. GY!BE Meanwhile Back in Communist Russia Jeniferever Mono Port-Royal Hammock Are amongst my favourites, though the latter two verge more towards Ambience
hairy Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Mogwai are excellent. **** The Curfew is my fav. Not been as keen on some of their recent albums. Have you tried Godspeed You Black Emporer and Silver Mount Zion? Godspeeds F#A#oo album blew me away when I first heard it.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Post Rock all the way baby! Most of the best bands already mentioned, so I shan't add to the list.
Chromophobia Posted 6 March 2008 Author Posted 6 March 2008 yes I like Mono, got one of their albums, they're playing ATP too. I've just started listening to GY!BE more recently. I'm downloading F#A#oo at the moment actually. I've got a couple of silver mount zion albums too, but never really got into them. On the more ambient side of things Eluvium makes lovely music. And Dirty Three too, wasn't keen on them at first, but the album 'She has no strings apollo' has really grown on me. Also Tortoise and Do Make Say Think are awesome, both towards the jazzy end of post rock.
Nationwider Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 I used to like Bark Psychosis. Are they post-rock? What is post-rock? I'm confused. I got lost after the NWONW.
Mark Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 On the more ambient side of things Eluvium makes lovely music. Indeed, two of my favourite ever songs are from Eluvium. Indoor Swimming at the Space Station & New Animals From The Air. So good.
hairy Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 I used to like Bark Psychosis. Are they post-rock? What is post-rock? I'm confused. I got lost after the NWONW. Thats it, nearly. Bark Psychosis are still going. Used to like them too, not heard of any of their new output. I've got Street Scene on red vinyl, had a listen again the other day. Post rock is a little less indie, a little less twangy guitars
Finnegan Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 A Silver Mt. Zion are like fooking sex. Moya's Hrsta are worth a listen as well, imo.
Flynny Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Mogwai are fantastic, but I tend not to get into post-rock bands as much as maybe I should, because it can be fairly uninteresting if you pick a wrong'un, or while you're 'getting into' it a bit.
