Bojimha Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I'll be there too, I won't be happy about it but I'll be there!
lcfc_jme Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I've been there as much as I could this season, though it's less than I'd have liked to have been there and certainly less than last season. I'll be there as much as possible next season as well, be it in this league or League One. This was being discussed yesterday on Fox Travel and the consensus seemed to be that we'd probably have bigger away followings next season if we did drop to League One than if we stayed in this league - new grounds to visit and the possibility of maybe scoring some goals, and all that. Hmm..
MikeyT Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I think this page title needs to be changed to "When we get relegated".
Blarmyboy Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Morning All, Just joined here but used to be on the filbertsst forum a lot some years ago, so hello ! I wish I could have added Good to the Morning - but it isnt bvery appropriate given the present circumstances....... I have only made it to a handful of games this season and on each ocassion I was : 1) Still encouraged by the support 2) gobsmacked at the apalling offering from the team We are now teetering on the brink and if something doesnt turn around fairly sharpish we could lose our position as being one of only a handful of teams never to have played outside the top 2 leagues - something I honestly thought would never happen. There are 2 schools of thought : 1) We survive and given the very close call, MM and Co will have to spend the Summer months completely re-asssesing what the hell is going on at the Walkers, and not least find some pretty serious investment to put his promotion plan back on track as the wheels have well and truly come off. 2) If we go down, and there is some who believe it may be the best thing, we would be a prime target for yet another takeover from anyone wanting to get a great club with great support in a great location etc. at a complete snip and then initiate a proper turnaround and re-investment programme - something which i dont believe MM is entirely capable of. In a perverse way, I believe that in the long run scenario 2 would be better. We need to attract serious investment, and by that I mean real money not what MM actually has available - not least because we will be under even more stringenet financial constraints due to less TV income, sponsorship etc. I very much doubt that the current squad have a salary reduction clause that would kick in with relegation - this was always the case before PT arrived. There is no way we could afford the present salaries of such a large squad. Another financial issue is the mammoth annual payments to be made on the Stadium. This was always reduced should we leave the Premiership, but I cannot see how on earth we will be able to service this should we end up in League 1. I reckon that the Landlords (I believe still Teachers in the US) woudl have little patience if we were to be in defualt for the 2nd time..... MM being bought out would in my view be a good thing - the man is a loose cannon with little or no loyalty to managers. Look at how old Deadly Doug was viewed - yet he still commanded respect, somehtign MM doesnn have and will never be able to earn. MM doesn't instil any confidence in me whatsoever - I dont believe that he "invested" in City for any other reason than to turn us around with the least posible investment from his side. The man is a very unsettlign influence in all aspects of the club and how on earth will we ever attract any truly capable management team if he is still at the healm. I am prepared to be shot down completely, but in my view the best scenario would be: a) Relegation b) MM sells out to an entity with REAL money c) We undertake a proper re-build d) Championship in 2009/10 e) Serious promotion contenders in 2010/11 If Man City can do it - then I am sure as hell that we can - so long as we have a new owner and some sensible and experienced leadership. Leeds were lead into their catachlysmic freefall by Bates though he got hold of them in a very poor state and wa a devious bugger when the went into admin, and Forest have lacked any serious investment for many a year. We on the other hand are in a different scenario - ripe to be bought out should we go down and the chance for a re-build - 3rd Time Lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tilley Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I'll be there next season with the Yeovils away. Would love it if we stayed up but will go to every game next season regardless.
Tilley Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I am ready to get slaughtered with what I'm about to say but here goes.. Was last night the night Leicester City got relegated?? Ok people will say I'm being hasty but when the final whistle went & I looked around and the City fans, everyone had League One written all over their faces, there was even a few tears. Ok it is the first time we have dropped into the bottom three but Scunny will be on the same points as us if they win their game in hand, Sheff Wed have two games in hand, Preston are on a 3 game win streak, S'oton will probably do a Preston now they have their first win. Ok maybe Colchester & S****horpe are down but it then boils down to us or Cov. IF we play like we did last night at WBA we will get a spanking ( & we are lucky not to have been beat 4 or 5 nil this season ). Hull are quietly going about their business and we have those at home & then S****horpe. I just think with the lack of confidence, the lack of creativity, the lack of fight & passion, the lack of finishing that maybe just maybe our time has ran out. I will keep believing until its mathatically impossible to stay up but i think maybe the way were playing were down already.
wirralsimon Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I think the seeds of our relegation were sown long before Ollie arrived, and despite everything I still think he sould be given until Christmas. After the harm that has been done top this club by chopping and changing managers far to often, I have to wonder how you can come to the conclusion that aother 'quick fix' change of manager is the solution to our problems. Ollie can manage at this level, as he has proven. If and when we can get out of this bad run we will see that. The downside is we may be relegated by then, but a new manager at this stage in the season will not be able to transform our fortunes in 8 games. Simon
Ric Flair Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I'll be there. I really don't care if we go down or not anymore, we don't deserve to be in this league and it doesn't sit right with me that we should be given any more favours. We need to learn the hard way. Relegation, the majority of the over-paid useless fookers being booted out. Mandaric will probably try and get rid of us, we might face admin, we'll be lambasted by all in football, but we will come out the other side and re-build. I want to be part of something i'm proud of, irrespective of what league we are in. I'm one of the few fans that after the initial excitement of getting promotion, wouldn't enjoy being in the premiership, so unless we can start competing properly in the Championship we might as well leave that league as well.. I'm quite happy to be a supporter of a lower league club if that club has standards and morals that all involved buy in to. League One it is and let's hope we gain some fookin bollocks for it.

I agree, I don't want another season of 'fancied pre-madonna's', I would like a squad of real, 'hungry', 'die for the shirt' players!! Where it's not the fancy football but the passion that will enthuise!!!
Raj Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 On a positive note, the prices should be lower AND we wont have to wait too long for a coffee and a piss(NOT at the same time obviously!) .Actually it sounds better already!! Fcuk the Championship Bring on league One.

Where it's not the fancy football but the passion that will enthuise!!! My only concern is, in League One we'll be seen as the convicted bent policemen in prison, everyone wants to take their scalp and we really will need to grow some bollocks to make a fist of that league and rightly so. I'll start to regain some pride if we could take on that challenge and win promotion next season, not many clubs do that, Forest, Man City, Sheffield Wed and to some extent Leeds have proven that.
Raj Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I was gonna post something about it taking a long time for us to regaining any sort of winning momentum, even in Lg1. But it seems we are already starting to think about life in LG1 and i dont like it. I makes me feel even MORE depressed that we,as fans are happy to accept it. We shouldnt.(Although it is understandable and up until a few minutes ago i ws thinking about it too!) And with that im going to shout some abuse at someone. Im confused and my head hurts. Have a good day!

Awesome post. If going down means we re-emerge as a Club/Team with a real identity and passion, then it'll be worth it.
