Southampton Stewards

Is there a thread on this?

I've had a glance through the THREE PAGES of new posts since I left yesterday and couldn't see one.

God they're a bunch of tits.

003 and 110 in particular.

They were poor. As bad as Plymouth's I'd say. They took it too far when they ejected JME.

I mean there was only about 10 of us who wanted to stand, why kick up a fuss?

It was an absolute joke, especially when there were hundreds of Southampton fans standing either side of us.

As was Jamie getting thrown out after 12 minutes.

I saw this coming a mile off.

They tried it in the cup but there was just to many of us. With a smaller following it was always going to happen. Couldn't beleive Jamie was thrown out. But fair play to him for sticking to his morals and staying standing. If there were more like that there wouldn't be as bigger problem.

But still, c*nts.

you been onto SUSD about it mate?

Silly really, nothing wrong with a few standing, me and tevez were 2 of very few Lincoln standers at notts county last night but did the stewards kick us out? No they just left us to it.

soton is one of these shite grounds where they kick up a fuss about all this. Something we'll be fine with in League 1 next season

Total Wan kers. Had many an argue with them last night.

I counted 30 stewards surrounding and looking at us constantley. Surely a joke.

I asked numerous times why the Southampton fans were allowed to stand. Complete joke it was. Managed to stand most of the time anyway just to piss them off.

We will be, pisses me off so much. I bet there were no more than 20 people standing ridiculous. They love to manipulate small crowds, it makes them feel so big.

Let's not forget these are the same stewards that took a drum of Blackpool 'cos it was to loud.

Absolute fecking tw*ts.

Haha They seemed the type to do that.

Funny thing was a bunch of lads probably 15-16. Were being told to sit because they were standing in front of people, although they wanted stand. They moved to the back in for the second half, stood up, told to sit down. Stood up, told to go back to their sits.

Their was 500 away fans at the game in a 1500 allocation. Would unreserved seating cause to much of a disturbance? Ridickulous

We were at the back, on the right hand side of the away section. There was a load of netting and empty seats separating us from the Southampton fans in the same stand who were a good 30 or 40 seats away to our right. For some unknown reason a bloke and what looked like his disabled son had decided to sit on the back row (effectively as we weren't allowed on the back row itself, as at Watford) and promptly sat down all game, complaining about people being stood in front. If they were their seats then fair enough. Either way, we made an effort not to stand in their line of sight.

Steward 003 (the woman) and Steward 100/110 (not sure which, Lisa will be able to confirm - this one was a prize cunt who delighted in striding around as if he had an important job - get a fucking proper job you fucking appalling excuse for a human being) were asking us to sit down from the kickoff. I wasn't even allowed to sit on the top of my seat with it folded up. We pointed out the Southampton fans stood up to either side of us and were told firstly that it wasn't their section so it was nothing to do with them and secondly that stewards were going up and down the rows asking people to sit down (yeah, bollocks - they did no such thing and certainly never chucked any of them out). Obviously Jamie got chucked out after five or ten minutes of the game. We were trying to continue arguing with them about it but I wasn't going to travel all that way to get chucked out after five minutes.

At half-time I went down to the front and asked to speak to one of the head stewards about it. He repeated this idea that they were asking the Southampton fans to sit down as well which I said was rubbish. I can appreciate they are trying to get people to sit down due to rules and regulations but the key point is this - if you can let around 500 Southampton fans stand then I think it's pretty bad customer service to start ejecting away fans when there are only about 20 of them standing. To travel all that way on a Tuesday night and be more concerned about being thrown out if you stand when your team goes on the attack is appalling. In any other business, you will find the cliché "the customer is always right" - which personally I don't agree with but at least sets up the attitude that the customer should be respected. You couldn't find a bigger difference between that attitude and the one those stewards displayed last night. When I went down to speak to the stewards at the front, one girl stewarding at the bottom of the stand admitted it was "ridiculous" to be thrown out merely for standing.

I could understand if we'd been getting in someone's way or swearing at the stewards or threatening them or goading the Southampton fans in any way. All we wanted to do was stand at the back of an away section and sing about Barry Hayles in a light-hearted way while watching our team slide further towards seemingly inevitable relegation.

Hopefully we won't have to put up with any of these bellend stewards at plastic grounds in League One next season (apart from our own obviously).

A little common sense and discretion was all that was needed, but no, they wanted to flex their muscles in front of a small group of supporters. It's amazing what a very small penis and a lack of sex life does to some people.

By the way, no photos. :crylaugh:

Jobsworths.

Oh yeah, that was the other one.

"No flash photography inside the ground".

At this point I just started laughing. I couldn't believe it. Absolute cunts.

It's disgusting it really is.

Fez you mind if I forward this to Amanda on SUSD? That'll help a lot, especially with the steward numbers.

Steward 110

Unfortunately, I couldn't get an image of him gloating in his mirror, chest puffed out, in self-righteous smug satisfaction, out of my head as we travelled home. I bet he felt really proud of himself.

it is pathetic but i don't see why people kick up such a fuss. just sit down for a few minutes then stand again. i swear people love it secretly so they can get into an argument.

Stop with the ignorance.

It's just in some people's blood that they want to stand at matches.

1) When they're stalking around, chucking people out and saying things like "I've asked you twice", it gets more complicated than sitting down for a few minutes then standing again.

2) I just wanted to stand and watch my team - I didn't want anything at all to do with any stewards, much less get into an argument with them.

Please do. Feel free to take the swearing out, that's just me being angry but I was very reasonable with them at the time.

get a fooking proper job

The amount of people that say that is beginning to piss me off, do you think stewards don't have normal jobs?

The stewards don't make the rules at the end of the day, if someone upstairs is telling them to chuck someone out then they have to do it. Obviously there is a handful of stewards (response team) that enjoy chucking people out and the two in question look like they fall into that group but on the whole most stewards just do it because its their job.

The same process of two warnings and then your out will be happening at Walkers Stadium from now on, you can all blame Paul Aldridge for that.

People like you are the reason the country and specifically football have gone down the pan. Willing to accept decisions with no fight and no thought. Thick dummies i believe there known as. Some people are passionate about football and want to stand. Most prem away supports stand every week. Football doesnt need idiots like you who probably take there flask to the game and eat yes...a "prawn sandwich".

Very true ; the stewards ( like traffic wardens etc) have a job to do that involves telling a few people that the feckin world does not revolve around them and what they want to do

They seemed ok to me (no better no worse than any other ) it is , after all , a pretty standard job

We stood up a few times when the occasional excitement on the pitch causes that reaction to stand , and then sat again a few seconds later and none of us were spoken to by the stewards

Maybe the ones saying that the stewards should use more discretion ( and stupidly relating it to penis size etc) should look to themselves to use more

oh my god. were you there? i was standing and singing, and was told to sit down. it annoyed me, espeially as i was at the back so not obstructing anyones view. but i sat anyway seeing as they were polite and respectful, and when i spent the majority of the rest of the match standing afterwards they didnt bother me. trust me i was singing as loud and as much as anyone. if you think people like the man in front of me (telling the steward to fook off at first sight) are the ones flying the flag for football in this country than you're plain stupid.

totally fair enough but the stewards that dealt with me and those around me were really reasonable i thought. i don;t know why standing is so frowned upon but it's not their choice to give us such instructions, so it really annoys me when people get personal and mouth off at them.

Southampton is the opposite to practically every other ground.

They leave home fans to stand but target away fans, its the other way around almost everywhere else.
