Kilworthfox Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 The major problem on the field is desire! In my opinion we have at most 3 players with real desire to win. Hendrie on loan, Hayles who is too short a measure, and Howard who relies on getting good service. The other outfield players just don't have it in them to be winners. Their levels of Intensity and desire to win game in game out are just not there. I have realised this since we played Bristol City @ home. The Bristol City side were 2nd best to us almost all day yet they are where they are we are where we are! There is a reason for this. Our players can get up for games like they were for 36minutes of the 1st half yesterday Yet their ability to be "up for it" fades as the game goes on. Yesterday for 36 minutes we were camped in Hull's half, they could not get the ball off of us and we looked a class apart as I believe we have one of the best collection of players in this leauge. However when our players don't have that fire in their minds to win the ball and give 100% without thinking about it we are lacklustre, and that is why I believe we are so inconsistent. The players as a collective don't have determination, Intensity and that "will to win" in enough concentration. In short the character of the side is not determined enough in this ultra competitive leauge.

Head Honcho Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 I'm starting to think we should get rid of Kisnorbo and McAuley OK! They put in some good performances but are these performance at the expense of the rest of the team? I don't get to see many matches so I'm open to criticism here but players like Kisnorbo and McAuley really need to be more then just central defenders-good distribution from these players is vital and in the games I've seen this season it just isn't happening. They may have one of the best defensive records in the league but what use is that when our midfielders have to run around like headless chickens trying to win a ball that should have been passed through to them!

I think that Kisnorbo and McAuley are ok but nothing special even in this Div. Then who is at CBK? the only player I have seen this season who really impressed me was Shittu at Watford Away. These are 2 players who have run of the mill personalities of witch our side I am sorry to say id ridden with.

It's a key point. We'd get away with keeping one of them but having them both is stopping us moving smoothly and swiftly forward when we win possession. Many people just won't seem to accept that our poor attacking record is connected to our woeful distribution from the back. Can you imagine Fergie putting up with continous hoof ball from his defence.
Kilworthfox Posted 23 March 2008 Author Posted 23 March 2008 I didn't read past Howard having desire Howard has desire! Howard is a very good player at Champioship level, he tho is not going to be the catalyst to reform a losing side as he does not the the athleticism that we need. We need a driven strong athletic midfielder to "boss" games.
Flynny Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 Our midfield need to take responsibility for our Defence's distribution. Half the time they've no option but the hoof or some sort of complex through ball that goes awry because they're just not capable of that kind of thing. Short options, movement, ball into space. It's all we need to do.

I've yet to see him show this desire, he looks like mogadon man to me never going out of his way and you have to say pea brained because how else can you explain the fact that he continued to commit petty fouls knowing that the ref was picking them out. We seem to have the thickest bunch of footballers on this earth!
Head Honcho Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 I can't seem McAuley or Kisnorbo being a Libero A sweeper wouldn't be a bad idea but who's capable of doing the job

Daggers Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 The major problem on the field is desire! It's a big problem off-field too. I'm sober now and yet I am still over-whelmed with a massive sense of apathy towards the team; I can't even bring myself to feel disgust with what I have suffered, what we have all suffered. And the big thing is - I don't think I am alone. The old lads that sit near us left early yesterday, the first time in their life, citing an abject loss of faith in the team. The missus phoned to say that Horton Hears A Who had finished and that they were walking back to the car...so I left 10 minutes before the end and joined them. God, I'm tired of all of this.

You left on 77 minutes I saw you from my seat! I too left early for the first time ever on 85 minutes. The team is full of balanced personalities with not enough determination to fight for the win
Daggers Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 I saw you from my seat! Well, I hope I was more entertaining than anything on the pitch
Kilworthfox Posted 23 March 2008 Author Posted 23 March 2008 Well, I hope I was more entertaining than anything on the pitch I kept throwing money at you and asking you to dance but you wouldn't
Daggers Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 I kept throwing money at you and asking you to dance but you wouldn't I was too busy planning my onfield display of high-speed nudity. It's going to be sexy.
Ashley Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 I think we are in our current position because: - Too many signings in the summer. - Fans expecting to much in the first season. - Too many Managers managed this club. - Too many players used in different games a squad needs time to bond. - Clive Clarke collapsing. - Players being told they are wanted by one certain Manager and not by the other.

How on earth can these be reasons for us being in the bottom 4? I think fans of this club can be forgiven for expecting to be a bit higher then bottom 4 with 6 matches to go!

I agree with all of that apart from the Clive Clark bit. Yes it will have affected the players but not sure why you are saying that is a reason for us being in our current position.

DB11 Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 When we play top teams our players want to win and show that they are better than them...
clazkel Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 It went wrong a while ago when Peter Taylor got rid of Cottee and Walshy, 2 players who meant alot to the club. Then the management changes this season haven't helped matters. I personally would've prefered Mandaric not taking over the club, i know he may have saved us but if we could've got through it without him then i think the spirit around the club would've been better. When we had a board to make decisions they knew abit about the club so would make decent decisions, whereas having Mandaric making the big decisions, he doesn't know that much about the club so how does he know what is best. Also when we went into administration and got relegated many of the players left and hardly any players left at the club had been with us for a while, there were too many new players. At the time Leicester didn't feel like Leicester because of all the new players (i know there was no choice) Then this season i think Holloway has changed the team too much, he should've stuck with what we had and motivated them, as he even said when he arrived their heads were down, he should've spent time motivating the players we had rather than saying they aren't good enough and he needs to bring in more players. Afew new players would've helped but not the amount he has brought he in. The youngsters such as King and A Chambers should've been given more of a chance, players who were keen to impress and probably would've given there all. The team keeps changing too much, it doesn't seem like Leicester to me anymore because of all the changes. And Holloway is right when he says we need legends at the club because that is what we are lacking, but we need to stick with the team we have and get the best out of them, they are good enough on paper to be at the top of the championship they just have to play together, if we stay up. If we go down (which obviously i don't want) the only plus would be that alot of the players will probably go which will let alot of the younger players have their chance.
davieG Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 Let's just hope Ollie can keep at least one plate spinning long enough to stay up
