Cracking Under Pressure

Recommended Posts

What struck me yesterday was the degree to which all three elements of the Club cracked under the pressure.A lot has been posted on here about the first two, but it's not been tied in with the obvious spilt between the majority"get behind the lads"support and the increasingly vocal(and running onto the pitch)minority. Our increasingly remote chances of survival depend entirely on all three elements getting their nerves under control for the next three matches.Whether Ollie can pick the correct team and tactics is, I'm afraid ,anybody's guess.Whether the team can play with passion, commitment and skill is perhaps, a forlorn hope.

The only certainty is that the away support at Barnsley will be 100% behind the team from start to finish,I only wish I could say the same for the home crowd the following week.

Now ,more than ever, the fans MUST hold their nerve and not be broken by the pressure.

so what you are saying is a family of say 4 should spend around £100 for a day out at the football and not voice the displeasure when the team plays crap :crylaugh:

If you believe, like I do ,that the team is underperforming because of tension and anxiety -yes.

the team are under performing because they don't really care mate. End of. they aren't getting motivated by the management and can still walk away with £5000 per week. Its about time people stopped making excuses for these over paid bunch of puffs

Supporters = Support the club. Go to games and support the team.

If you think that the lads played shit and you decide to voice your displeasure then dont bother going back again till they start winning. If the players and tactics are all that shit during games then dont bother coming to watch them play.

I wasn't at the game this weekend, and prior to lick-off, I was very nervous, but I'd sing in the bloody stadium.

I understand the point abput the team not performing but at 0-0 or even 1-0 down, when there are still points to play for, any nervousness or negativity transmitted onto the field will affect the team.

I can't make the Sheff Weds game either, but anyone who is better make damn sure they sing.

You may be right, but if I believed that I'd stop going at all.I think their shortcomings are more to do with a lack of courage, strength and manliness rather than cynical greed and dishonesty.

Or the constant Managerial changes, player turnover, defeatist mentality around the club.

these are professional footballers. they get paid to play football. they should not be influenced by the crowd. I support leicester city football club, doesn't mean i have to slap players on the back that have played crap because they need a hug

its easier for people to try and blame the fans so it doesn't look they are having a go at the club

This is not a"have a go at the fans" thread. The crap we are in is NOTHING to do with the fans. There is though, something the fans can do to try and get us out of it.

Not being funny here but why should we?

We've given them 4 years of loyal support and had fook all back. Its about time that overpaid bunch of muppets who are more than capable started to perform,

The supporters in my view should be given far more credit for simply turning up in the numbers that we do every week, you cannot get better support than at Sheff Utd last week given the score and performance and many more times, we as fans are performing, the players and coaching staff need to start doing that and fast.

I agree with your final statement there but, and quite rightly so imo, some fans have had enough of getting behind the team to be let down time and time again.

We saw this in so many different forms yesterday. Ok, so you've got 22500 roughly at the game, and not everyone is going to see the game in the same way, fact. I moved seats for this one, and was sitting near the family stand, and I could not believe the amount of negativity coming from that end. But then it came from all over really, behind me, to the right, to the left, never experienced anything like it. And then there's one out of 22500 who feels he needs to vent his frustrations on the pitch and throw his season ticket vouchers on the ground.

To be perfectly honest, I'm still fuming about it now. You can call it nerves, apprehension, or whatever you like, but I've had enough of seeing the usual 15 minute frenzy at the start and then the 5 minutes frenzy at the end with the rest total garbage. The players looked 'bothered' for the first 15 and the last 5. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Is that the managers fault? No, I don't think so. If they can perform like this for the last five, they ought to do it for the whole game.

I personally think half the players are a disgrace and I can't wait to see the back of them. If I was IH I'd be going raving mad.

Unfortunately, even at 0-0, the thought of this fixture being a league 1 fixture next season was looking all the more realistic as the game wore painfully on. At 1-0 down it was a certainty. At 1-1, there goes yet another opportunity to take the initiative against a team that has one of the worst away records in any division in the football league. Disgrace.

Because we're the ones who's lives are governed by the fortunes of the club and to who never being in the third tier MEANS something. It all boils down to whether you believe the fans can influence what happens on the pitch,if you don't then fair enough, but if we can then its partly down to us.

it makes me sick when people say don't slag the team and get behind the players. Lets have the players do something to deserve be applauded. after all the big wedge of cash in their banks is enough compensation for someone in a crowd shouting nasty things at them

im supporting the club by paying money for my ticket/season ticket. In my terms and conditions it mentioned nothing about singing. Am i not a supporter now?

I'm sure the club would be happy if you just sent them the money.

They seem to be doing everything possible to reduce the amount of singing, unless its the old Sing-Along-A-Max on the tannoy routine.

I used to sing throughout the game, then boo at the end if they were even more crap than usual.

Now I just want to get out of the ground asap.
