Dr The Singh Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 What a new and totally unrepatative debate.I tell you what else we haven't even discussed ever, lets swap the kop with the family stand. God, wait till the seasons over, it will be ground hog day, over and over again!!!

Thracian Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 Its bollox mate. Not only this season but last as well, many have had chances but due to inconsistent form or injury a few have fallen by the wayside. You cant just persevere with players because they are young and they have "done it" against other players of their age group. You always have such a one sided argument to this debate which is a shame as it spoils and decent arguments you have for a particular individuals involvement in first team. As far as your concerned, they all deserve a start and you can sling Beaglehole into the mix as the man who should be manager. For once try and be less blinkered and stop pushing for them all to be starters at the expense of others. I tout for people I believe are the best alternatives and it is no use you trying to invent a different slant. Like Shush!/Clapham - no contest. Beswick/Laczko - no contest. King/Oakley (the way he's playing) - no contest. Gradel/Newton - no contest. And clearly your idea of what constitutes a chance is different to mine. I wonder how Oakley/Clemence/Clapham would have felt to be given a game here, a 15-minute substitution there and so on before they got a proper chance to settle in the side.
Daggers Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 Right - who wound up the clockwork Thracian? Have some of you not got work to be getting on with?
gibbom Posted 4 May 2008 Author Posted 4 May 2008 I could imagine Andy King maybe getting a bit upset - came in to the side, did well, certainly didn't disgrace himself. To see Hendrie and Oakley acquired mid-season must have been a bit of a kick in the balls. I would suggest he's now behind these two and Clemence and Wesolowski in the order. I like Andy King. yh i liked him as well, came on as sub against wolves, then started the next game against southamton and scored that great goal, won him supporters club goal of the year as well i think
Matt Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 So of the loanees who would you sign? Whats happened to Etuhu? I'd keep Bell and Hendrie if we can. The rest can return home. Of our players out on loan I'd keep Gradel and Odihambo. Maybe keep Hayes but the rest I'd ship out asap. Fulop.
gibbom Posted 4 May 2008 Author Posted 4 May 2008 I agree completely. But, in reality, instead of pushing through King, Gradel, beswick etc, we will probably just buy or get the odd free transfer here and there and get experience in, rather than giving our younger players a solid chance. if we get relegated then we probably could give people like king, gradel, wesolowski and beswick games regualy, because hendrie won't want to be playin league 1 football, bell will pobably stay as well as zsolt laczko, and clemence and ethuhu will leave because there shit
gibbom Posted 4 May 2008 Author Posted 4 May 2008 Fulop. if we stay up we should definatly try and sign fulop, pay what ever sunderland ask, because he was a class keeper
Matt Posted 4 May 2008 Posted 4 May 2008 if we stay up we should definatly try and sign fulop, pay what ever sunderland ask, because he was a class keeper Its easy to say and don't get me wrong Henderson has surprised me a very good deputy, but i'm fairly confident in saying if we still had Fulop (On loan or signed) we'd be safe, it'd have still been tough, we'd still have been in a relegation battle but I honestly do believe if we had Fulop we'd be safe. Surly that is worth £3M, Because I tell you if we do go down it'll cost more than £3M, Milan obviously likes a gamble though

He did say he'd like to come here but we weren't prepared to pay the price (3 Million is alot for a keeper but he is worth it!) Didn't he go to Stoke on loan with a view to move?

How would Fulop have saved us? None of the goals hendo has let in have been his fault, and we still have one of the best defensive records in the league with him in goal. He has made some astonishing saves aswell. I do not see why everyone is making Fulop out to be some sort of superlord! we would still be in the same position. It seems to me that people are just never satisfied with the players we actually have...... Hendo could play out of his skin, he could play like Petr Cech and people will still prefer Fulop, because they would be to blind to see that hendo is playing well, they have this inbuilt negativity towards the players we had last year.

The players we had last year made me more confident of survival. I always felt we had it in us last season to stay up. I haven't got that feeling this year

Yeah cos their all doing a great job. Keep it up lads I said originally Hendo hasn't done much wrong and has surprised me how well he's come in a done the job, but I was a hell of alot more confident with Fulop in goal and although Hendo hasn't dropped any clangers or done a bad job I believe Fulop could and would have saved 1 or 2 (Give or take) that Hendo let in which would perhaps have saved us by getting the extra point(s) Having said that if we went back Hendo might have saved one or two which may have gave us the point(s), all abit right time, right place really.
