Ultra Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 dodds has made noises about possibly moving to the Imps permanently and It's extremely unlikely Shush! will stay while Holloways at the helm I think AS will stay at Leeds, whatever happens to Holloway.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 Hasn't Maybury already gone to Aberdeen? Loan til the end of the season.
Ric Flair Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 I cannot believe Stearman & Kisnorbo only have a year left on their contracts. I'm sure they both signed extensions last season for 3 years?
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 I cannot believe Stearman & Kisnorbo only have a year left on their contracts. I'm sure they both signed extensions last season for 3 years? ....should think we will be offering them both contracts, if turned down they could well be off in the summer, if not January without question.
Thracian Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 if we let shush go we will only have mattock unless we offer clapham a contract probz a 1 year contract just for next season I doubt we'll have any option with Shush!, especially if Holloway remains.

I'm amazed both deals are to run out in 2009, i'm sure Kisnorbo signed an extension last season worth 8 grand a week. Stearman perhaps has gone 2 seasons without an extension, so that is in depserate need of sorting out.

Thracian Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 So of the loanees who would you sign? Whats happened to Etuhu? I'd keep Bell and Hendrie if we can. The rest can return home. Of our players out on loan I'd keep Gradel and Odihambo. Maybe keep Hayes but the rest I'd ship out asap. Gradel's the only one of the ex-Academy players I'd keep of those who I think would stay. Bell and Hendrie as well.

I can't guarantee the accuracy of the info, I just update whenever info becomes available. but I do remember some change to Kisa's contract.
Daggers Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 I think AS will stay at Leeds, whatever happens to Holloway. I thought he went off on loan after turning down a contract offer? My understanding was that the line had been drawn?
El_Thief Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 I thought he went off on loan after turning down a contract offer? My understanding was that the line had been drawn? he turned down a 3 year contract and is leaving in the summer, said he had to many arguments with people here and needs to get out anyway
gibbom Posted 22 April 2008 Author Posted 22 April 2008 Hasn't Maybury already gone to Aberdeen? he only went on loan i think until the end of the season
Thracian Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 I thought he went off on loan after turning down a contract offer? My understanding was that the line had been drawn? I don't expect he'll be the last to leave either. While City prefer to play average-at-best imports ahead of our emerging players then you can understand em being pissed off. Apart from the money I can't understand why any youngster would be keen to sign a three year deal when it is so easy for them to be made scapegoats and forgotten while the latest loanee or foreign flavour of the month gets his chance.

More money than lower league clubs (no youngster is yet to leave here and play at the same level or even higher) and some youngsters have proven themselves here recently, more so than at some clubs. But there is definite room for improvement on the way we develop our youngsters.

Fat Ron Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 Personally I think that our Academy lads get a good crack, over the last few years we have seen Logan, Stearman, Mattock, Heath, Porter, Shush!, Weslowski, King, Chambers all see a reasonable amount of action (some more than others mainly due to the rate of thier progression) Being a proffesional Footballer isnt just about talent, its about maturity and proffesionalism as well. Players need time to adjust to first team training, levels of competitive contact and most of all they must have time to bond with the senior players at a club. If (as some suggest) it was as easy to drop a group of 17 year olds into a First team set up then why doesnt any English club do it? Even Sir Alex brought players through sparingly, ensuring that he had senior players in those positions his kids were breaking into. As for a young player leaving because he isnt guarenteed first team football then as far as Im concerned good riddance. The last thing this club needs are more tits that think they deserve more or think they are better than thay actually are.

But there is definite room for improvement on the way we develop our youngsters. I'm quite sure Beaglehole does his best to push the youngsters but, Stearman apart, I don't believe any one of them have been given the chance to make the progress they should have done this season, either before or after Christmas. If the time City have wasted on including seemingly unresearched no hopers in first team and reserves were added up this season and translated into potentially lost development time for our fringe youngsters it would be embarrassing. The sooner this season is over and someone, hopefully, devises a proper, rational plan for through-the-club success next season the better. And that needs to include a properly conceived finishing school for the top youngsters who really shouldn't be getting sidelined while we conduct unnecessary and unproductive experiments with chancers. It's high time there was some achievement attached to wearing a Leicester City shirt - any Leicester City shirt. Yet I could count at least 12 players who've played for first or second team this season who never deserved to step over the club's threshold. That's 12 players who have stood in the way of people who've come years through the system and could rightly have expected efforts being made to give them a final polish.

If a young ski jumper doesn't believe he can make the next leap he's likely to break his neck and if young professional footballers don't think they're good they've got no chance. Any idiot can give people a game or two. The worth of a manager is being able to get them playing at their best, to improve them and to show the confidence necessary for them to build-up their experience. I wouldn't count Chambers as ready - he was just used in an emergency. But Mattock, King, Shush! and even Wesolowski have been messed about no end - in the team, out of the team, a few minutes here, half a game there. Shush!'s doing well at Leeds and Gradel's done well at Bournemouth because they are playing regularly and feel appreciated. Only Stearman has had luxury at Leicester and he's arguably Player of the Season as a result. It's not an accident.

But, in reality, instead of pushing through King, Gradel, beswick etc, we will probably just buy or get the odd free transfer here and there and get experience in, rather than giving our younger players a solid chance.

Not only this season but last as well, many have had chances but due to inconsistent form or injury a few have fallen by the wayside. You cant just persevere with players because they are young and they have "done it" against other players of their age group. You always have such a one sided argument to this debate which is a shame as it spoils and decent arguments you have for a particular individuals involvement in first team. As far as your concerned, they all deserve a start and you can sling Beaglehole into the mix as the man who should be manager. For once try and be less blinkered and stop pushing for them all to be starters at the expense of others.

The People's Hero Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 I could imagine Andy King maybe getting a bit upset - came in to the side, did well, certainly didn't disgrace himself. To see Hendrie and Oakley acquired mid-season must have been a bit of a kick in the balls. I would suggest he's now behind these two and Clemence and Wesolowski in the order. I like Andy King.
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 What a new and totally unrepatative debate. I tell you what else we haven't even discussed ever, lets swap the kop with the family stand.
The People's Hero Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 Jason Koumas on a rolling contract loan anybody?
