Head Honcho Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 Thanks for the info I've also had pm from a forum member. I actually had a letter from them the other day with a "fantastic offer" offering me £3000 worth of membership all I have to give them is £3750. Bargain The one I received was from a company called clubseasons.co.uk but Thommo's face is on the brochure I have in front of me so it must be the same firm. Spam spam spam spam..........

Head Honcho Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 Are you sure you read that correctly? I think so I've mislaid the actual letter that came with the brochure but I'm sure they were offering me a saving of £3000 but membership was over £6000. It's just another way to market timeshares I'll try and hunt out the letter. I was sent it a couple of months ago christ knows where they got my address as I'm on the list that stop me from getting all this crap

For that you get a 1 week holiday, nominally for 2 people but you can fit 4 in every year. So I guess it's down to whether £375 is good value for one of their holiday locations

davieG Posted 22 April 2008 Author Posted 22 April 2008 Is that for holidays abroad or in this country? Both although the first year is limited to 6 places in Britain and 3 abroad. After that where ever they have a properties.

This is the paragraph I find a bit disconcerting: In the unlikely event that Seasons is unable to honour any holiday request for you in your first year of membership, you also have our no quibble guarantee that you will receive 100% refund of your initial management fee. Simply provide Seasons with three resort preferences and three date preferences and we will do the rest! I think their need to even mention not accomodating you on three seperate occasions is something to worry about! ......................and have you ever tried to get a money back guarantee offer?

I guess it's a natural consequence of having to pay the maintenance before you book. It's a bit chicken and egg, the customer doesn't really want to pay before they know the holiday is available and the company doesn't want to commit dates to someone who hasn't coughed up the money. Any holiday you book is a risk because you invariably have to pay before you go, this is not significantly different but because they can't guarantee the specific holiday they have this clause. Any refund on any purchase is always going to have potential problems. I can't deny there's a risk involved.
Jay Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 having worked in the travel industry I lost count of the number of times people were set up by these sort of deals. even some of the biggest "time share" operators in the world used to mess people round on a regular basis, one of their best tricks was offering people holidays to say Tenerife starting on a Wednesday, a day they don't fly on and then when you try and change it BANG extra charges are involved!! or stating things like you HAVE to book your flights through this operator and so on. to be honest for that sort of management fee imo you could probably get similar standard hotels, apartments anyway without having to use them.

I guess that's what it boils down to, but for example a week in Early August in an apartment in England is likely to cost more than the £275 for the first year after that if the value doesn't equate then you could just lapse the membership. I'm undecided I must admit.
Daggers Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 I would never touch a timeshare or buy a property abroad through an agent... Ever.
AoWW Posted 22 April 2008 Posted 22 April 2008 WebsiteAnyone heard of these or know anything about them? I haven't heard of Seasons Holidays but I do know a little about this company who seem to offer a similar thing: Holiday Property Bond. Just thought it might be useful to you if you haven't come across them already - maybe as a comparison? Having said that, I haven't looked at their website closely and don't know how they compare pricewise or in terms of the accommodation they offer. I know a few people who've become 'members' with them and I haven't heard any complaints - plus, a friend of mine used to work for them and I've never know her to mention anything 'dodgy' with the company. Vague, I know...

Thanks Aoww, I have come across them before, this is not something I'd normally be interested in but I've just received this 'free' membership reputedly worth £3750 but you have to pay the maintenance charges every year to get your one weeks holiday. Bit of should I shouldn't I, what's the catch? situation.
