Kilworthfox Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 The one thing that has pissed on all our cornflakes is the lingering knowledge that we lost yesterday, but also we lost with a whimper. I don't get how our players can do it for 40 minutes and be in complete control of the match and make 1 mistake and it's end game. We even had half time, what the fook happened? We were dreadful Fookin barstewards don't deserve to wear the shirt! After the match they were too chicken to come back out, and I was shouting at the stewards and they said they were not coming back out. They looked embarrassed to be representing the club as a steward yesterday after the game because of that performance. I was being loud and they did not try to shut me up as I was right. Chickens Now yesterday I got back and was raging inside and vented my frustrations at poor old Dicky. I must say I did go too far and I apologise if it upset some as to be honest, I did go too far with my criticism as he was no worse than the rest! My point was that he maintains this "city fan" image, and yesterday his performance was just as bad as those who we accuse of being shit or just coming here for the money. In my book that is inexcusable but so were my comments yesterday
Corky Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Well done for backing down and retracting your statements
Daggers Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Seriously, he was one of the better players - and that he was one of just two to remain on the pitch and applaud speaks volumes about him as a person. I still maintain that he should be given the opportunity to step up to the plate next season and given the Captaincy. Most of this current lot will be off and we've seen that buying in 'captains' has had piss all effect. If it doesn't pan out then that is just one more disappointment, but I reckon it's worth a go. Then I shall be proposing he becomes player-manager

It is a disease in our side, I think a whole new playing personnel is needed, spirit is only found in Hume, Weso, Hendire, I made the point before the match to you and it is consistently evident every week that our players don't have the mentality to keep the belief in themselves to win matches.

In my book that is inexcusable but so were my comments yesterday This a decent post and in the first paragraph the problem is highlighted. We had half time and, not only were we unable to become sufficiently motivated for the second half, a sense of panic ensued whereby Hume and Hayles were swapped even though Hume had been working well upfront. A similar panic to the Colchester game, and a feeling which transcends to the players and fans of wtf are we doing? I have backed Holloway to the hilt on here and feel a complete nopbarse for doing so. I wanted stability, but not at the cost of relegation.

I could not believe it when 7 came up on the board Hayles had to be taken off he had the touch of a rapist, everything seemed to bounce of him like he was controlling it with his knee. I don't blame Holloway, it's the players they are the ones who gave up when it became level. It is the players who have been awful for 5 seasons now. Something is rotten to the core mentally at this club
Ultra Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 You shouldn't have apologised. If Mandaric, Holloway and the players couldn't be arsed to express regret for their role in yesterday's events, then why should you? Stearman is a local lad, who many on here think of as "one of us". He lives the dream most of us have had of wearing the prized blue shirt, which until yesterday was a symbol of pride and distinction. But is he good enough to do justice to that shirt? Having watched the likes of Steve Whitworth, Pontus Kaamark, Simon Grayson and Andy Impey play in the right-back position for us over the years, I'm entitled to expect a certain standard, even quality. Sadly Stearman has proved all too often in the last couple of seasons that he is incapable of reaching that standard on a consistent basis. No amount of wishful thinking to the contrary will alter that, nor will any post-match Gazza-style histrionics. If Villa or any other club think they can get more out of him than we've been able to, let them try. I've seen plenty of real heroes in my time at City. Stearman isn't fit to lace their boots.

I apologised for annoying people with my singling out of 1 poor player not 11 Stearman IMO is a cretin who is living off of this "image". people want to believe this is a Walshy mark 2 that's up to them, hey we have to believe in something but god it makes my blood boil the effort that he puts in then has the balls to look sad and kick turf around, it's pathetic. I don't take back the anger but maybe I should have written another 10 not just the 1 topic on 1 player.

There's a lot of arse talked about Stearman and you clearly add to it, I judge my players on what they deliver and the circumstances in which they deliver it. It's insulting to those of us who defend Stearman to say we do it because he's a local lad, that's bollocks. As for Stearman no one saying he's world beater, no one's saying he's better than Whitworth, Kaamark or anyone else it's just that when people go over the top with their criticism, like Kilworth did anyone with a semblance of logic and fairness in their make up will come to his defence. Stearman's a young player, still only 20 that has some potential, which he may or may not fulfil, as of yet he's hardly had a calm structured introduction into professional football having played with about 100 players and 10 to 15 managers over 2 to 3 years (I can't be arsed to add them up) hardly a consistent basis on which to lay the foundations of footballing career. It beggars belief that there are people on here who believe they have the power to see inside someone's mind to such an extent that they can judge how that person feels and this from 30, 40, 50 + yards away.

That is a bit harsh. I saw Grayson, Kaamark and Impey play for us, they were quality right-backs. It's a bit unfair to compare Stearman to those players. He isn't the best player in the world, but I believe he cares.

Can't understand why this should be the case after they have watched Coach Carter. The fact that they have refused to employ a sports psychologist is quite simply amazing. Well that and still not knowing how to play an offside trap with only 2 defenders at the end of the game.
Nosowicz Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 But is he good enough to do justice to that shirt? Having watched the likes of Steve Whitworth, Pontus Kaamark, Simon Grayson and Andy Impey play in the right-back position for us over the years, I'm entitled to expect a certain standard, even quality. I remember many players who I do not feel are good enough, but I think you are wrong to make comments at Stearman, because he is a local lad and cares. Yes he gets paid too much, yes he drives a porche, but that is football. Full over overpaid-underperfoming players. As for players who are not fit to wear the city shirt, look at the rest of the squad listing and tell me which ones are then and if that will add up to 11 players and 5 subs. IF theb you can show me that in a squad we have you have better players more fit to wear the shirt who support Leicester as a team and club, then I may be able to accept your opinion Now that is a real challenge(are you up to it?) Squad List of 34 (I am sure there are more that can be added) Goalkeepers 4 to choose from Ben Alnwick Robert Douglas Paul Henderson Jimmy Nielsen Defenders 11 to choose from Kelvin Etutu Hossein Kaebi Bruno N'Gotty Richard Stearman Patrick Kisnorbo James Ashley Chambers Alan Shush! Gareth McAuley Joseph Mattock Jamie Clapham Harry Worley Midfielders 12 to choose from David Bell Andy King Jonathan Hayes James Peter Wesolowski Radostin Kishishev Sergio Hellings Stephen Clemence Lee Hendrie Levi Roger Porter Matthew Oakley Zsolt Laczko Ashley Chambers Forwards 7 to choose from Reneil Sappleton Dudley Campbell Iain Hume Barry Hayles Steve Howard Matty Fryatt Eric Odhiambo
The Stig Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Well done to Kilnworth for retracting his comments. I still however maintian that Stearman does not deserve extra critisism for showing some passion.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 What the hell happenned to Etuhu in the end?

eaststandtom Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 massive difference between now and 1991 is that most of those players played for a number of years for city and had an affinity with the club. our team now do not have that same link. we need an oxford like spirited performance on sunday but with our massive wage earners and loan players can they deliver like the players from 91? i do not think so

I keep thinking "it's just like.." but really, it isn't. I don't think we have the players who have the heart and desire to battle this one out. I so want to be proven wrong.

If he goes I'm sure certain people will criticise him for not staying and being 'loyal' etc. Unfortunately whatever he does he can't win. He gtes slated for staying yesterday for clapping the fans and looking genuinly upset at the loss. But then he would of got slated if he hurried down the tunnel with the rest of the wasters?

Something is rotten to the core mentally at this club The only thing about the substitution is that I think Hume had gone after the penalty, totally shattered him. He was in the dug out on his own, head in hands after the whistle. Now, I'm in the kop so I couldn't see if he was actually chuckling, thinking, I'll still get paid anyway...but I doubt it.

And out of those 3 he played 1 out of position in right mid when he's been no 1 scorer last 2 seasons and left 1 out of the team or bench since Xmas. lucky we put our trust in Ollie eh. Well done.
