He knows the players and i can't see any new manager coming in and getting us promoted straight away. No good managers will want to come to us now. Ollie got QPR promoted from League 1 so he is our best bet. Name me a good alternative that will get us out of League 1 in one season? Davies and Allardyce won't want to come here now. Now is the time for stability, i know some fans are saying get rid of all the losers that took us down but we shouldn't let them escape. They are all under contract and can get us out of this mess. Our strikers in League 1 now look superb, Fryatt, Howard, Campbell, Hume could all bag 20 goals easily in my view. I'm angry and devastated Ollie has took us down but we should stick with him. He knows the players and may even learn from his mistakes and sign players who are hungry to play for the shirt. I'm sure he will bring in more youngsters too. If we do stick with Holloway i think we can storm League 1 and come 1st but sacking another manager could leave us in more relegation trouble. If Dowie does come in and starts badly, signs the wrong players like Allen, we may end up in exactly the same predictament as this season. Stick with Ollie and we will come straight back up.

But now he is our best chance of getting straight out of League 1. He has done it before. My sig was done yesterday just after the game when i was devastated, but now after thinking about it we must stick with Ollie.

After the final whistle yesterday, I was all for sacking Holloway. But, Ollie knows the players, I would like to think he knows the youth team. He could have a pre-season, get new players in, ship out the shit. I am all for keeping him now, as I believe yet another manager will do our club no good whatsoever.

Benjani Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Mike Newell could be a good shout. Unemployed and probably wants to get back in the game. Has not been a manager for too long, but since he has he's got Hartlepool promoted from League 2 and Luton promoted to the Championship as champions of League 1 with 98 points. The following season Luton finished 10th in the Championship but left the season after because he wasn't happy at Luton selling all of there players. Im pretty sure he turned us down a few seasons ago but im not sure he would do the same now.

No i didn't say that at all. He will deserve another crack at the Championship when he takes us back up, if he remains in the job. Trust me on this one, i shall be going all stable for next season. Obviously i wanted him gone this season because he was doing so badly and i knew we would go down, but now we are in the League below we should stick with him. I'm certain he will learn from his mistakes, play the youngsters a lot more, and sign the right players. Bringing a new manager in just won't work, we will not be promoted in 1 season if we bring yet another new manager in. as proved in the Championship this season, changing the manager just didn't work.

Inept team selection (Howard and Hayles were terrible), inept substitutions (why wait until the 85th and 90th minutes??), inept tactics (we didn't leave our half of the pitch for the first 45 minutes in a game we had to win). I think we do better than someone who is completely incompetant tactically, has no idea to motivate the players and is tainted with relegation. I think Beaglehole would do a better job if it was really impossible to find someone from outside the club.

breadandcheese Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Holloway has been here since November. He has brought in 9 players. He has displayed tactical ineptitude. He has made error after error. He has taken the club backwards. On top of this, he still doesn't understand where it went wrong so cannot right the wrongs. He has been the worst manager in the club's history. That in itself is enough. Possible managers who are worth a look - Paul Lambert Mike Newell Tony Adams (a gamble - didn't do it when at wycombe but he's learnt since then. Not bad at picking a player having signed Nathan Tyson for Wycombe before Forest bought him) Dave Penney Steve Tilson

You look at Coppell at Reading who has done a decent job, and he wouldn't say boo to a goose. Managers need to have a bit of tactical knowledge as well as character.

If Ollie knows the players so well then how come we had our best goal scorer isolated on the wing? How come we had our second highest goal scorer playing in midfield? How come we had a geriatric has-been up front? How come we had our best battling midfielder sat on the bench while a completely inexperienced young centre-back took his place on the pitch? How come we have a quality left wing player shipped out to a second division club when we were so obviously in need of his services for large parts of the season? The list could go on and on. He could have a pre-season, get new players in, ship out the shit. The 'shit' being mainly players he brought in? I am all for keeping him now, as I believe yet another manager will do our club no good whatsoever. I'm absolutely not for keeping him. He's shown absolutely zero ability in being able to motivate the players, zero ablity in cultivating any sort of mental attitude except defeatism, fear and avoiding responsibility. If Holloway stays then we'll find ourselves in League 1 for several seasons to come. If Milan doesn't scak him now then he'll leave some time next season, leaving us in deep shit and having achieved nothing but getting us relegated.
