SamL Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 I can't actually believe he hasn't got rid of him yet, the useless 'David Brent' of the footballing world... Give the man a chance. Isn't he still in America? After all of this, it'd be funny if Ollie stayed.
wurmer Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Give the man a chance. Isn't he still in America? After all of this, it'd be funny if Ollie stayed. Fair point, sack him by phone, even better.... Or by text...
maddog Posted 5 May 2008 Author Posted 5 May 2008 Fair point, sack him by phone, even better....Or by text... And bring who in? Ollie should be given until Christmas.
davieG Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 And bring who in?Ollie should be given until Christmas. So you're already prepared to sack him at Christmas, that doesn't show a lot of confidence and will leave us in a similar position to this year. Anyone suggesting getting a new manager in and giving them until Christmas would be considered foolish why do you think it's acceptable to suggest Holloway on those terms.
Chimp Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 And bring who in? You keep asking this despite many, many suggestions being made as to who could potentially replace him. Ollie should be given until Christmas. Then what? Another season lost? No. Get rid of him now so a new manager has the summer to bring in players and prepare for the the new season.
MikeyT Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Once you have lost the dressing room, you have lost the dressing room.We should look at bringing in an unemployed manager this time. Like Megson was who is determined to do well. And you know he has lost the dressing room how?
Tilley Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Everyone get real. Paul Ince, Why would he leave a stable job at MK Dons. Look at what happened to MA. Darren Ferguson, Why would he leave what he is building at P'boro. Bill Davies, OK clubs aren't queuing up for him. But we've messed him around before & does he want to be in L1. Allardyce. GET REAL! He was being touted as England boss not long ago. So that leaves Dowie. Great, fcuked up Charlton, fcuked up Cov. Great lets have him.
Fox You Forest Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Then what? Another season lost? No. Get rid of him now so a new manager has the summer to bring in players and prepare for the the new season. It looks like he's gone either way so why keep banging on about it, and can we please get rid of a few before we start thinking about thinking about signing more.

Mike Newell, Paul Lambert, Steve Tilson. All of those would do a good job for us.
Tilley Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Yes. But MM <3's Dowie. IF Ollie goes, Dowie WILL be in. Be careful what you wish for.

It's a pretty exhaustive list. Davies and Big Sam are the only ones I would even consider approaching. And chances of getting them in? Well, money talks but it would have to be a quite lucrative offer and a big risk to bring them in. I guess you could side with Dowie. Fantastic. Let's have him. Like you say. What a joke he is. No, stick with Holloway. Holloway all the way. You've got one fan Ollie! Kilworth Fox will back me up - there's two of us!
wurmer Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 And bring who in?Ollie should be given until Christmas. So you mean the same routine as this season then... Oh but wait, we can always rebuild again at christmas... that worked well before didn't it....

From the realistic candidates who would come here, I would take Ollie over them.
maddog Posted 5 May 2008 Author Posted 5 May 2008 In a previous poll 62% wanted Ollie in charge if we went down. Now we have a lot of fans have shown how fickle they really are.
The Shreds Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Our strikers in League 1 now look superb, Fryatt, Howard, Campbell, Hume could all bag 20 goals easily in my view. Howard is rubbish to be fair, the only reason he has been praised and stuck in the first team is because of his lucky hat-trick.
Tilley Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 In a previous poll 62% wanted Ollie in charge if we went down. Now we have a lot of fans have shown how fickle they really are. Naive idiots. Think we can just go & get our own Jose Mourinho. Were in Division 3 now. Not as attractive as the Championship.
filbertway Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 No. I was one for stability, but he's got to go. He had more than enough time to turn things around and he didn't do it. He didn't get performances out of his players on a regular basis. New league, fresh start. Fcuk off Holloway, Holloway, Fcuk off Holloway LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA. Yep that's pretty much what I was going to say. I said something like a manager needs 12 months to show what they can do, but if you don't show any signs of improvement, you can have 12 years and won't do anything, bye Ollie x x.
Tilley Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Howard is rubbish to be fair, the only reason he has been praised and stuck in the first team is because of his lucky hat-trick. Which was against 10 men, one goal was a penalty. He's shit.
Fox You Forest Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Naive idiots.Think we can just go & get our own Jose Mourinho. Were in Division 3 now. Not as attractive as the Championship. Your having a coversation with the most fickle person on this forum (maddog)
davieG Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 In a previous poll 62% wanted Ollie in charge if we went down. Now we have a lot of fans have shown how fickle they really are. Like you then first you want him out now you want him to stay - Who were you calling fickle? By the way I've never wanted him, I've supported him but ever since I saw him manage that QPR team that were the instigators of the worst game of football I've ever seen he was never going to be my choice.
Tilley Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Your having a coversation with the most fickle person on this forum (maddog) I'm just trying to get my point across. We cannot get in a Allardyce, A Davies. Dowie will be in if/when Ollie goes, Is that what you all want?
wurmer Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 I can't believe that people still want Ollie around the club... Did people not just see what happened over the last 3 months? Maybe I'm in another reality or something...
Fox You Forest Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 I'm just trying to get my point across. We cannot get in a Allardyce, A Davies. Dowie will be in if/when Ollie goes, Is that what you all want? I agree with you, infact i may turn to self harm if Dowie is appointed.
gosfox Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 It has always interested me as to why MM seems to have a fixation about Dowie..... Does he really? or is it just an urban myth that seems to have developed..... can anyone shed any light on what Dowie has ever done to make him so desireable to Milan
Bluenose76 Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Despite some of you wanting Ollie to stay the simple facts are is that he has failed and not for the first time either. How can honestly expect him to be the same manager now? He freely admits that everything he tried hasn't worked, is that what we want? To be linked with a manager that has basically told us he isn't up to the task? (like we didn't know it anyway) What good will it serve to have him next season? For sure it would split the fan base further still. Whilst I agree we need stability, we need a fresh stability, to start from scratch, wipe the slate clean etc. Holloway is a piece of our history best forgotten. When he told us that he would get us out of this league he wasn't wrong was he?
