Six Released - New Contracts for the Young Uns

I believe we have no place for people who treat the club as part of their 'party' lifestyle - who take everything they can and fail to honour the debt they owe to the club and its supporters. Supporting weak-minded, self-indulgent players simply fuels this.

Yes, clubs owe a duty of care to their staff - but there are lines that can not be crossed and breaking the law is one of them. If a player abuses his position then he has acted in gross misconduct of his contract - the club should have had the balls to take the PFA head-on on this matter.

Interestingly enough (well I thought so anyway) that about the time that Elvis was on the comeback trail and them strangely got injured again and again (without actually playing a game or getting any proper explanation from the club) radio five did report on a player beleived to be from a championship club who had failed a drugs test for recreational drugs...however they were unable to name him as an injunction had been taken out by either the club or football authorities as there was a genuine fear for the players safety as it intimated that due to the depression that the player was suddenly feeling that he could possibly harm himself..... . surley this couldnt have been our Elvis??...allegedly!

We're not an addicts charity Thracian! but what he does outside the team doesn't matter if he's still good enough to get in the team, & anyone who thinks that most footballers are not off there tits on cocaine most saturday nights are quite wrong!

We sign the players and as such incur a responsibility for those decisions.

Many's the time I've said on here that we should be more diligent in our homework.

But I know nothing about the Hammond rumours.

Only that the last time I saw the guy play was in a 15 minute comeback for the reserves when he scored once, almost got another and looked like he'd tear most Division One defences to pieces IF we could get him fully match fit.

I'm almost a lone voice on the subject but, purely in terms of abilioty, I'd love him in any Division One squad of mine and, had he been fit and available, I seriously doubt we'd have been relegated from the Championship assuming, of course, that Hollloway had chosen to use him.

I've heard another completely different rumour about Elvis that makes the obvious one seem completely normal!

Yes, I've heard another rumour too. If they're all true he should write a book! :D

Out of interest Thrac, who is it you have managed and at what level? I'm not looking to mock I've just seen you mention your record a couple of times and am curious.

It all seems a long time ago and becomes more inconsequential as time passes. :D

Neh of course not he's not old enough or "proven".

Yes, I've been watching our "old enough" and "proven" wingers for some time now!

Don't you mean old enough & "proven" strikers on the wing? :) I'm sure he'd play Peter Beagrie over Gradel or Laczko if given an option! :D
