I imagine Burns will look a lot better with Riis in the middle. Looks like an old fashioned winger, one touch to create space and get the cross in. If I’m Riis I’m happier with him on the wing than Howell, but let’s see how it works and out on the pitch!

I’ve got more respect for Martin for dropping him than maybe taking the easier option and putting him on the bench. Balls in Cullen’s court now as to how he responds.

All in I’ve no real complaints. Thomas has done very well at CB. One of the wingers needed a rest so I’m glad it wasn’t Alves. Bobby starting at 10 makes the Cullen signing look odd but with Chaplin unfit he’s not the worst option there. That team and bench looks strong to me.

Really pleased for him, been one of the surprises of the season really. Plus it shows the benefit of a good loan for a younger player. I was definitely expecting Aluko to be first choice but feel like Joseph just has an edge on composure.

Feels like quite a significant game in terms of our broader season. There’s something about the meeting with Khun Top, McCarron, Martin and Rudkin where Top decided to decline the offer that I find fascinating. I imagine them all sitting at a big board table, Rudkin’s got his laptop open, Tops pacing at the back, James is sat there grinning and taking notes while Martin draws where Page fits into the team at a flipchart. Then Top says “enough, he stays and we promote” they all hug and backslap and Rudkin hits Send on an email back to Man Utd. It’s beautiful.

If he was here last night you'd have 100% bought him on for the last 15-20 and probably avoided the nervy last 10mins when our players were blowing and maybe lacking a little bit of experience. No idea if he'll start, but that and overall leadership is what he's here for.

Not even taking into account his mazy RW dribble, that was comfortably his best game for us. Dominant in the air, won his physical battles and didn't have any brainfarts with the ball. Kind of want him to play with a little bit of arrogance and use his size to just dominate the defence and opposition. Must be easier not playing next to Okoli. Good to have the window now shut and hopefully he can buckle down, stay fit and build on last night.
