Finchy Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 Anyone going to see them at the Charlotte next month? Incredible band, don't know if any of you saw them on Jools Holland but they were immense and if you're not going to see them i reckon you'll regret not going in a year or two
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 I like Glasvegas but fear that they are in danger of becoming over-hyped NME darlings.
Finchy Posted 22 May 2008 Author Posted 22 May 2008 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NcBVhZKZqfg http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=scHAGj1PXOM Very, Mary Chain. They won't be another one of these NME hyped bands, you can see straight through those bands as soon as you see them, these guys have something about them, and the music means so much to them.
Flynny Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NcBVhZKZqfghttp://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=scHAGj1PXOM Very, Mary Chain. Exactly. Distinctly considering this one.
Flynny Posted 5 September 2008 Posted 5 September 2008 Just started on listening to their new album. I have to say the opening track is really hokey. Hoping the rest's good.
Rodderz Posted 5 September 2008 Posted 5 September 2008 Anyone going to see them at the Charlotte next month? Incredible band, don't know if any of you saw them on Jools Holland but they were immense and if you're not going to see them i reckon you'll regret not going in a year or two Great Band pal i myte have to attend the charlotte gig
Matt Posted 5 September 2008 Posted 5 September 2008 Saw abit of them at the Godiva Festival they were ok. Didn't actually know who they were at the time but straight after couldn't go anywhere without hearing about them. Daddy's Gone is a good song, not heard any other songs, might give the album a try.
Finchy Posted 5 September 2008 Author Posted 5 September 2008 I have to say the album is incredible, they have lived up to the hype and i'm glad i saw them at the charlotte and at godiva because they wont be playing small venues after this album. One word EPIC HERE WE, HERE WE, HERE FUCKIN GO! HERE WE, HERE WE, HERE WE FUCKIN GO!
Babylon Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Can't wait for the album, what I've heard so far is quality.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Downloaded it this morning, it sounds gigantic. It's not remotely my sort of thing but I can imagine them headlining T in the Park next year and all the Jocks going crazy to it.
General Smuts Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 Downloaded it this morning, it sounds gigantic. It's not remotely my sort of thing but I can imagine them headlining T in the Park next year and all the Jocks going crazy to it. My thoughts exactly. I just can't like this.
grth2004 Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 My thoughts exactly. grth2004 Posted 6 September 2008 Posted 6 September 2008 You've put me off now. nothing wrong with the doves
Finchy Posted 6 September 2008 Author Posted 6 September 2008 nothing wrong with the doves Quite right. Although I don't really think they sound like Doves. A lot like Jesus & Mary Chain.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 September 2008 Posted 7 September 2008 Lead singer reminds me of Joe strummer. He lives! Bring back The Clash Justin Lee Collins!
Joe. Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I like Glasvegas but fear that they are in danger of becoming over-hyped NME darlings. Think this comment has been proved true. Taken me a while to make my mind up on these but I'm quite into them at the moment.
Finchy Posted 24 March 2009 Author Posted 24 March 2009 I like Glasvegas but fear that they are in danger of becoming over-hyped NME darlings. I think this is right now yeah. I hate how this happens to bands, because I think Glasvegas are better than this and these days if you're bummed by the NME a lot of people see this as a reason to not listen to you, or atleast not to admit they like you. I do think however that Glasvegas are getting more and more pretentious which is also annoying. Still, I absolutely love the tunes
Darkzzz_ Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Not a bad album at all, one that grew on me over time. The NME and Jo Whiley are enough to destroy music all together. I could quite happily murder Whiley and laugh whilst doing it.
