Father Ted Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Just been doing some research - let's DJ the credit he is due: Chesham United - 2000-2002 - 16 goals Stevenage - 2002-2003 - 3 goals Yeading - 2003-2005 - 65 goals (?!?!) Brentford - 2005-2006 - 12 goals Birmingham- 2005-2007 - 12 goals Leicester - 5 goals All of the above from LCFC site 12 goals for Brentford. 3 for Stevenage in a season and 16 in 2 seasons for Chesham. I really can't see him getting even near to the 15 goal mark nevermind bloody 25!
Daggers Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I'd rather he go than Fryatt, because we'd get more money for DJ than Matty. Fryatt scored 15 goals in half a season for a crap Walsall team in League One when we signed him, if there is any way of getting his confidence back here, then he'll be lethal at this level. But we may have missed the boat with him. Please no - not either/or - they are both shit.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Exactly - there are players at LCFC who have somehow managed to create a fanbase and admiration that has no basis in reality. Everyday you hear people talking up Fryatt. He simply does not score goals - he isn't prolific and is severely lacking in other aspects of play. Fryatt's Record: Walsall - 2003-2004 - 1 goal Carlisle - 2003-2004 - 1 goal Walsall - 2004-2005 - 15 goals Walsall - 2005-2006 - 14 goals Leicester - 2005-2008 - 12 goals 12 goals is 3 seasons? that is bad. Simple as. But all the time Fryatt this and Fryatt that. This is a big problem with LCFC. Just about everyone connected with the club thinks we've got a good squad "on paper". Well football isn't played on paper. It's played on a pitch. And regardless of how good we are on paper - we all know how bad we've been on the pitch. And anyways - surely how good we are on paper relates to the stats? Well evidently they arent too good for Fryatt and DJ are they?

Stats for both players look worse than they are, 2005-2006 Fryatt scored 20 goals, and the 12 DJ got at Brentford were from 23 starts and 9 sub apperances. They'll both score in this division.
Ric Flair Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Please no - not either/or - they are both shit. I'd happily get rid of both, but if one were to stay i'd rather it be Fryatt. Reason being, is that, DJ doesn't want to be here and therefore he'll perform below his best and also we'd get more money for him than Fryatt. Fryatt has been garbage for us other than for his first 15 games for us. However, his record for Walsall at this level is commendable and although he's not improved since he's been here, I think a confident and composed Fryatt, could score 20 goals a season at this level easily. The problem is, has the damage been done on him in his time at Leicester, could he actually re-find his form at this level here? I have my doubts, which is a shame as a 20 goal a season player would help us massively next season.
Daggers Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I think a confident and composed Fryatt, could score 20 goals a season at this level easily. But this is all I've heard since he's been here...and in front of me I see a player on a downward spiral with no apparent awareness in front of goal nor where he should target his runs. I'm sorry mate - but he is the first I'd like to see out of the door. DJ, out of the two, is the only one I see being able to bring it back under a new manager. Given someone strong to sort him out and point out that either he invests in the team or kisses goodbye to any future career outside of the Conference. DJ has an ability to use his pace and to make intelligent runs, Fryatt doesn't have either of those. It's irrelevant anyway; Sappleton is going to command the position and net fifty next season.

I agree with you on that part. The stuff you've wrote about DJ is absolute gaff though, just like I wrote about Fryatt. We're both kidding ourselves. They are both shitters and they need scooped up and disposed of.
Joe. Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 It would pain me to see both Fryatt and DJ leave this summer. Fryatt's so overrrated by a large part of our fanbase it's embarassing. He's just had a terrible season and from what I saw I can't see him being able to score more than 10 goals next season. I doubt he'll be sold to be honest though. As for DJ, like I said earlier in the thread, I've got a bit of faith that he might come good but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he went either. As long as we got money for both of these two we could comfortably find suitable replacements for League One.
