Do we all expect DJ to still be here next season?

Yes, you can criticise his performances on the pitch last season and he has completely failed to live up to his high price tag.

However, for me, there were many occasions last season when he looked like he couldn't give a monkeys. Do you honestly want to keep a player on who does not give you 100%?

People can argue the toss as to whether or not he is a liability on the pitch, but I would suggest he is much more of a liability off it, than he is on it.

He needs the proverbial kick up the backside well 'ard next season if you ask me.

He didn't look commited enough.

One major obstacles for DJ is his problems with the offside rule.

What is it with our fast strikers and the offside rule?! You're supposed to be quick, you don't need to shoot your load quite so early (so to speak). Assuming League 1 defenders are even slower than Championship ones, DJ should be able to give them a head start and get offside less. In theory...!

DJ Campbell will come good next season,

If played consistantly.

Possible, but only if he improves on the things Joe mentioned.

I'd like to keep DJ in the hope that he could produce the goods in League One.

However I've been very disappointed with two things mainly, firstly his inability to finish a chance and secondly his inability to stay onside. Whether he can improve over the summer is anybody's guess.

Personally I don't think the problem with DJ is that he is not good enough to play at a higher level than League 1.

I think he could score plenty of goals in both League 1 and the Championship if we played to his strengths e.g played the ball on the floor, through balls etc instead of hoofing it up to him in the air or playing it too long over the top.

He may continue to look shit for us but if he does I expect that to be more because we are playing shit football as a team than because he is not good enough.

He did look pretty rubbish last year but I think he will deliver the goods if we knock it around on the floor, which is something we should be looking to do regardless of whether DJ is in the 11 or not to be honest.

I think we should get rid, he's probably one of our highest earners. It's all well and good saying he'll be good in League One, but the goals don't get any bigger and offsides still get given.

Waste of money.

He's on a par with Akinbiyi really... when we were in the Premier League and were looking for some good firepower, we turned to Akinbiyi, splashing the cash on him and yet he achieved NOTHING for us... Campbell's just the same... the only differences being that we were in the Championship looking for firepower... we still spent loads on him and he's achieved nothing.

I think though that in this division, he could be a good asset because of his pace and under good management will come good for us. :)

We don't need DJ and Hume and in my opinion DJ is by far the inferior player. He's a very limited one trick pony with doubts over his effort and injury proneness. Hume as well as a proven goalscorer is committed and offers more of an all round game. Get rid, overated, very overpriced, just another 'pup' that Mandaric bought!

That can go for alot of players in the squad.

both Campbell and hume will score goals in league 1, whther they are here to do so depends on who is appointed.

I'd love to see DJ play with the Sappletiser, together I think they complement each other well enough to get goals in league one...

... Sadly I don't think DJ will be here...

I think if Campbell can can sort his finishing out, then him and Hume could be a good partnership. Campbell has got pace and could really worry defenders in league 1, Hume's not as quick, but could still give the run around to the majority of defenders in this division.

If they're still here :S

He'll be gone in the summer. It hasn't worked out for him here and he only came here because of Allen anyway. He's not even that good, but League One is about his level, like Fryatt I suppose.

Everyone seems to think he'll be off, but looking at things from the perspective buyers point of view. Why would you buy DJ Campbell?

A season with a lack of goals, injuries affecting his main asset pace for some time (although he will no doubt be fully fit for next season) and his in-ability to stay onside. This alongside the fact that Milan will want to re-coup at least a fair size of the price we paid for around (around 2mill i believe), meaning clubs are going to have to hit the seven figure mark to sign a striker who hasn't really be effective for the last couple of season's at least. Doesn't exactly make DJ a prime target number one for any club at Championship level or above, and if he's going to hang around at League One level, he will stay here as no doubt he will be getting the best wages he can get here.

So i'd like to know where people think DJ will be off. It intrigues me.....

spot on, like most of our players he showed me he had something good to offer but just wasnt consistant enough! somebody like billy davies who has good man management skills could hopefully bring some of the players off of their overpaid arses and want to get on that pitch and do well! but it makes me wonder, if billy does come here, will howard go??

Him and Fryatt should both score over 20 in this division they've both proven themselves capable.

Wouldn't be distraught to see one of em leave though.

I don't know why everyone has Fryatt so far up our strikers list, he missed more sitters than anyone last season.

I think DJ would be awesome next season .

Fryatt would be a golden boy to some if he never scored. I don't know aboutnext season but feel certain he'll do well if we drop down to the Conference. ;):D

Has anybody been watching DJ Campbell this season? or at any time?

He doesn't score. He can't finish. He loves being offside. I haven't seen him stay on the ball for more than a few seconds - it's like watching an under-12 player at times. His pace? Is he really that fast? Seems reasonably average most of the time.

But you could forgive all of the above flaws, if he was at least good at the other basics: passing, tackling. Nope.

DJ = vastly overated

25+ goals? No chance.

He's shown he can do it at League One level, sort of.

I'd rather he go than Fryatt, because we'd get more money for DJ than Matty. Fryatt scored 15 goals in half a season for a crap Walsall team in League One when we signed him, if there is any way of getting his confidence back here, then he'll be lethal at this level. But we may have missed the boat with him.

Just been doing some research - let's DJ the credit he is due:

Chesham United - 2000-2002 - 16 goals

Stevenage - 2002-2003 - 3 goals

Yeading - 2003-2005 - 65 goals (?!?!)

Brentford - 2005-2006 - 12 goals

Birmingham- 2005-2007 - 12 goals

All of the above from LCFC site
